I recently went on a solo trip to Europe, and I watched many of your videos before I did that. I'm in my 40's, but found so much wisdom in a 22 yr.old. I stayed in a hostel in Paris, Zermatt Switzerland, Rome and Amsterdam. I only had a handful of french phrases in my pocket when I arrived in Paris, but found the french to be very friendly and helpful if you don't talk to them in English first. Also, when you solo travel, you tend to become more observant, alert, and aware of your surroundings. I made sure not eat any of the space cakes while in Amsterdam, clung to my handbag while riding the metro in Paris, bought most of my food from a Migros or Coop supermarket in Zermatt and splurged on Lindt chocolates, brought my tripod inside St. Peter's Basilica in Rome and was approached by security twice. I set a budget of EUR100 per day for food and experiences but only spent an average of eur30 per day. And I wasn't even being frugal. I just genuinely enjoy going throught the aisle of supermarkets in foreign countries. So yeah, solo travelling has changed my life completely and am now planning another trip. Keep those videos coming. =)

I recently did my first solo trip to Paris and your video really helped me. I did the walking tour you had suggested and although I didn’t meet anyone because I was in a group full of people travelling as friends or family. But it was a good experience

I must be honest these were all of my fears and questions but through research and taking baby steps I feel more comfortable to venture out and solo travel abroad now. I first started with traveling solo places in my state I always went to eat, movies and shopping alone that wasn't a big deal wasn't awkward starting small is key then venture out to other states in US solo to see if solo traveling suits you it might not be you're thing. I agree you need to be smart be aware great tips and main thing people need to understand about solo travel is everyone's opinion on how they will like solo traveling will vary dependent on you're individual personality are you a introvert like myself you'll love solo travel embrace it fully it's what we prefer that alone time on the flip side if you're a social butterfly extrovert you might feel lonely you get you're motivation and thrive off attention crowds more so that drains a introvert like myself being alone doesn't equal loneliness that is totally based on you're personality and traits I love traveling with my close friends occasionally but I do prefer solo traveling as a introvert.

Hello Angela, im 21 and will be solo traveling (for the first time :D) in Italy for three weeks. I want to possibly see other countries but I'm not too sure how many I should limit myself especially since I will be having a 30kg suitcase to carry around and need to consider my budget. Please let me know what you think.

Hi Massa! I'm so excited for you to be solo travelling for the first time. Italy is absolutely gorgeous and you can definitely spend 3 weeks there with no problems. If you have a lot of luggage and a smaller budget, it might be best to stay in a certain place for longer, but I personally prefer staying in a particular destination for around 3-4 days to see more, but it's totally up to you. I hope you have an amazing trip!!

Hi Angela, I noticed you often book free walking tours in your vlogs! Do you have a go-to resource for free walking tours? What sites do you usually use for booking free tours? Thanks! :)
