Corp: didn’t get to watch till Monday morning but as always another great vid. You’re absolutely right, it is about the “reality of survival”. I’m responsible for myself but also my wife as well. We’re both 65, still getting up at 430a to go to work. Keep spreading that message-“stop whining start doing”! GOD bless you Shawn. See you in the midweek.

Being a disabled gulf War veteran I can't understand how anyone could be offended by you trying to stay in shape you should do everything you can while you can because one day you might not be able to.

Staying in shape and staying healthy are two different things. I have always strived to stay healthy over staying in shape, and in the process manage to stay in good shape. I don't exercise but live an active life with plenty of physical challenges. I have also had friends who were into weight lifting and running, a couple died from heart attacks so you figure it. Exercise does not control your health. I am 74 and enjoy the health of someone thirty years younger

From Corporal to Corporal, I follow you for about five years now and the quality of your videos and all your advice is outstanding. Intead of being offended, people should be thankfull, for the great work you're sharing every week for years now. There are few, that are this motivated like you. So thank you over and over again for your great work. If somebody is offended, it seems to be the wrong channel for you. My opinion. Wish you best of luck. Semper talis from Germany.

Your content is inspirational not offensive! At one point I was 265lbs, had to catch my breath walking upstairs in my own house. I started watching your videos 5 years ago and realized if I ever wanted to do half of what I would like to do outdoors something would have to change. It's been a process but I'm on my way to being healthier and more capable. I didn't want to become a type 2 diabetic sitting on my back porch wishing I could do things in the woods. If you're offended watching content like this and someone being motivational, I would say, maybe take a look at what is going on in your life to make you feel that way. Semper Fi

Corporal Kelly, as an 82 year old Old Schooler, I appreciate your featuring Old Schhol gear, which was common in my younger years; & your encouragement to stay physically fit, regardless of age. Although I am in better condition healthwise than many others my age, I need to be challenged & encouraged to do better, especially with my walking. I am also enjoying each new episode as you progress with your underground shelter. You are approaching fulfillment of my unfulfilled dream, as a teenager, of a perfect underground "Hide-Out!" Not only do I appreciate your service to our country, I am most grateful for your willingness to share your Woods Wisdom & military training with your viewers. Interestingly, as communicators, we share something in common: there are thin-skinned folks WHO GET OFFENDED WHEN THEY ARE TOLD THE TRUTH & CONFRONTED WITH REALITY! Your channel ranks among my favorites! Thank you, Sir, & may God bless you! The Old Preacher

I did stuff like this when I was kid. I built tree houses, underground shelters, as well above ground forts. My parents had a little creek that ran behind our house. I would go catch crawdads, build a fire and boil them suckers up!!!! Great times!!!! Now I am trying to show my grandsons how to do this in a new,and electronic world. I appreciate you fro all you have done!!!

That part about fitness is so bang on. That happens to me a couple years ago. Went on a hike with some buddies through some serious terrain and elevation gain. 21 km one way. By kilometre seven, one buddy took my pack so I could make it to the camp at kilometre 9. So he had one 40 pound pack in his back and one on his front. That was dangerous and my lack of fitness could have hurt him. Then they each took a third of my gear for the remainder. I swore that would never happen again. Fast forward to this year, when we did another hike about the same distance. I skipped last year because I wasn’t in good enough shape. This year, I’d been training to hike, ate only a carnivore based diet (which made me stronger faster and balanced my blood chemistry numbers to the point that the doctor doesn’t know what to say), and made it to the end. Even though the guys in front led us off trail through a huge area of muskeg which filled our boots with water and along the wrong side of the ridge which was steep and mossy, I made it. It was July, but it snowed on us up at the lake. It was either wet or freezing the whole time. But it was amazing because I’d accomplish what would have been impossible before. Thanks for showing that fitness is more important than people want it to be. They don’t call it survival of the fittest for nothing.

when u bring in the tools to chisel out the oven to the size u want, since the ground is so compact and solid, perhaps u could chisel out some "deep shelves" storage cubbies so that u can store some gear semi-permanently inside the hideout, maybe a drywood stash for fires, or just some canned goods or something, just to make it so that u dont have to hump out ALL the gear u need each time just in case u get stranded in the snow or something, OR u could then do a solo weekend (48 hrs) in the snow.

I for one look forward to your vids. Mid week and Sundays. I was at 254 lbs when I was 68. ( now pushing 70 )Was huffing and puffing walking to ck the Mail ( drive way in 3/10 of a mile) I had to put a knee brace on the wife before she went to work. We decided to start a exercise routine 3 time a week changed the way we eat ( went from living to eat to eat to live food is fuel and tank doesn't need to be full) long story short we both lost 40 lbs she no longer wears a brace, and I can walk to check the mail with out huffing and puffing. So yes staying in shape is important.

I went camping and tried your Chilli Mac. Pretty nice. I raise you though! My favourite is an pasta Alfredo/carbonara type packet, anything pasta and creamy, and near the end as it’s thickening chop (or rip) up some beef jerky and add. It rehydrates the meat a bit and is delicious. I still eat it on a hiking stove when glamping although I we have bbq access… few shakes of Tabasco Corps special.
