Born and raised New Yorker here! All yellow taxis will have a license plate starting with a T and all uber/lyfts or any other 'for-hire' taxi service will start with a T and end with a C. I believe it has to do with the certain requirements the state has with their inspections, but I am not 100%. For us it makes it easier to know if the car we see could be taxi or not! Also I don’t think there is a real reason for there mainly being big cars in New York other than it allows drivers to be able to accept more rides since a lot of people go out in groups (especially at night!). Unfortunately, bedbugs have always been a problem in Paris, it's just that the media started to focus on them at the end of September and then everyone got scared (including me)! But if you're careful (don't sit on the metro...), there's nothing to worry about :)😁
