These are the real trip smith videos. I think we all love the feeling of being there for the progression of the journey and fun camp sites. Love the dory but losing the aspect of always needing to find a cool campsite is sad. Plenty of channels doing the living on a boat thing. I got a kayak and eventually a skiff from this channel. Moving to the bigger boat is great for family camping but we lose some of the nature moments from it. Just an opinion.
That was really cool and fun to watch. Thank you for going to all the trouble it takes to produce such a great video. Keep em coming!

lol, when I asked 'what do you do' I was asking as for those who ask us "what we do' when we are out kayaking - but your day job definitely explains the arms, and pulling through that shallow upper Pea! Hey you also have to get in on the Santa Fe if you're hitting North FL! Amazing clear brown like Suwanee, with huge cypress, what made it stand out are the white fossil shell lined beaches, these are fossilized snail shells by the ton and when you take a handful to dry and say bring home they turn to powder but are so beautiful on it's shore. I didn't get to paddle much of it sway.com/7P76NCVgQe6ukxrT this is the trip I took this summer which includes the sante Fe.

Great vid Trip. Love watching these. Loved all the little water falls off the river. s you were looking for the phat lighter, you passed a river birch. It also is good for fire starting. I was going to tell ya that when on the river look for areas the fish can get away from the flow of the water, then use your lure to catch a few. If it's cold, just move the lure very little. The fish get very slow and lazy in cold water..... put a worm on there. That should at least catch ya some pan fish. I want to make one of the gear hangers you made. That's very handy. Thanks for another great vid man. Looking forward to seeing more. If you get a chance, look up the Edisto River in South Carolina. That might be the first river I do. Great fossil finds as you make your way. I've found some nice shark teeth. maybe we can plan a group trip once I get all my gear sorted. I will have to message you on your FB. I ordered some stuff from your Amazon. I also have the Olympia TG 860 now. The Kelty 12X12 tarp and a pretty good start on my sleep system. I plan on ordering a couple more items from your Amazon store. I'm looking forward to making some vids like these. I have no clue how to edit or build a channel. Just starting to research that.

It might be worth carrying a toilet scrubber brush with you to help clean the mud off your shoes. If you're fishing on the river, grubs and stick baits are amazing. Little crank baits will catch some fish, too. The smaller the better.

Thanks for the tips! Hope to get out next week and do some kayak fishing ;)
Always pay attention to how the locals a fishing where and the bait if they will tell you. That way you can catch some! In alabama brim and crappie are your best eating. Or even catfish. Bass if you have to. But small red worms or crickets are the way to go. If you want to catch bass the a Texas rig with a u-tail is great all around lower!

The Mississippi coast is filled with tons of attractions to suit any tourist desires that you have. Beautiful beaches and rivers. Hiking and biking trails. Desoto National Forest. Numerous casinos. Museums. Tons of quality restaurants. We even have a brand new minor league baseball stadium and team (Biloxi Shuckers) if you like baseball. You name it, we probably have it. If not, we are only an hour drive away from New Orleans, LA. They will certainly have what you are looking for.

+Kevin Fayard I forgot to mention that we have islands and bayous as well. One of the islands (Dear Island) is only a ten minute paddle from the beach in Biloxi. Much like the island you visited in Panama City, FL. Several others are located a few miles out into the Gulf of Mexico, but are even more beautiful. One named Ship Island even has a brick fortification (Fort Massachusetts) on it that was built in the 1850s and saw action in a single engagement with a US Navy warship during the War between the States. Between the multitude of fresh water rivers and bayous, and the open gulf, I guarantee you will land those fish that have thus far been so elusive. LOL. And yes, we have tons of those Blue Claw Crabs that you love to eat.

Oh wow, sounds like a good spot huh? That brick fort would be pretty neat. Blue crabs are definitely a plus I'd say. Thanks for all of the great info! I hope to get over there one day. I imagine I will ;) If you Like the Facebook Page you can probably catch me whenever I do get over that way. I typically post where I'm headed on there. Thanks again!
Love the videos. I'm looking for a new river to hit up here in the southeast and the Pea river may be it. Which did you like better, the upper or lower? The camp sites that you pick, are they pre arraigned on management lands, or just an opportune site along the way? As a suggestion, you should try the Suwannee river some time (upper is more scenic). Florida has several river camps along the length of the river and lots of river management land that you can camp on. Keep them coming.

+Brett Frye Hey thanks Brett! It's a good one. Upper vs Lower? I think the upper had a little more action and rapids. Lower had more waterfalls..... If the water level was higher compared to when I did the upper the upper would be my choice. Just be prepared for the portage around the dam. Campsites are just opportune :) I've had a few people suggest the Suwannee. I think it's definitely on my list of rivers to paddle. Thanks for suggesting the upper! I'm working on tailoring my schedule to provide for a good bit more time devoted to KZread so the future should be bright! Thanks for watching and hope you get some paddling time soon!
It's finally here yaaaay

Awesome to hear, can't wait to watch it. I've gotten into Kayak fishing, for adventure and to lose weight. Lost 24LBS in 3 months, still got 100lbs more to go lol. But its been fun and wondering. River at 5am is beautiful. Wanting to do the hydrating thing, may also see about doing my own bars. Thinking about doing some of the 3-day trips like you as well. Not sure i will, to be honest camping at night anywhere by myself, expecially in middle of nowhere is frighten a little. But maybe work up to it:) Anyways thanks for the reply. And awesome videos

Congrats on loosing the weight! That's pretty good! The dehydrating is good for kayaking and eating healthy as well. Nothing like eating apple chips.... I haven't tried bars but I have made my own granola in the over. Really simple... Google it. You'll get there. Really nothing to it. You just have to get it into your head that there is really nothing much out there that is wanting to hurt you. You're welcome! I try to respond to most all of my comments.
I enjoy all of the videos that you do but after watching the lower pea river trip I noticed you talking about how you wanted a kayak with a day hatch and also a skeg versus the rudder setup also you were talking about a WS tempest I saw a great KZread video comparing Chatham 17 and tempest 17 basically here's the break down lots of gear and slow flat water tempest high currents high wind high energy in the water Chatham but both hold value extremely well I know of a yellow Chatham 17 in Pensacola Craigslist for $700 just to let you know

+David Wagner Thanks David! You know, I've seen that exact same video and it's really a good one. If it were not for that video I probably would have already snatched up that Necky kayak you are talking about lol. I saw it but I'm holding out for what I'd like to use for long term. I know if I got that one I'd probably end up looking for another. In the video he talks about how the Necky has a smaller hull and not as much internal storage which is fairly important to me. They both seemed to be about the same speed to.... Thanks for mentioning it though, I really appreciate that.
Bath and body works has a candle that is sunblock scent. It’s called like coastal or something like that. They have changed the name a couple times over the years but the ladies in the store alway know which one I’m talking about. Lol

Great videos! I was just wondering what your average speed was on the kayak
@TripSmith
8 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jack! I appreciate that! I really haven't measured it... I believe about 3 mph. Then you have to take into account the speed of the current. Tough to do when rivers vary in speed....
Great video! I see myself in this....it looks good in edited video but the reality is something diffrent... Keep it up! =)
