We often forget that everything amazing is very close, you just need to take a step! In nature, you feel life is real and you find peace in yourself. All problems seem very distant at this moment, and time seems to freeze! Good video.
Definitely more like this. Bit longer, too. Less immediacy than your short survival ones, the relaxed side of a day / night in the woods. 👍

The survival stuff is so good too though. Not all of us know about snares and knots. This is like college in small Bites to me sometimes. I can watch and absorb in the evening even, because his manner is fun and pleasant. I wonder if he’s married and has children? Hmmmm.
Dan, we need more videos like this one. It reminds us all that we need the simplicity, the peace and quiet of nature. Both you and Brooke Whipple (Girl in the woods) exemplify the love for the outdoors that John Muir had.
I've done a fair amount of walking in the woods and I think this is the first time I've ever seen someone walking w/an axe in one hand and a manual grinder and coffee press in the other. The Corporal turned me on to you channel. Like it, thanks.
@Dan: I'm a relatively new subscriber, so I'm still playing catch-up on all your vids! I had to pause this one to show my wife that I'm not the only guy that brings 2.8lbs of coffee oriented gear on a day trip.
Anyone else seen the twig bouncing around above head from when starts talking about coffee supplier 😂😂

not sure if anyone gives a damn but if you're bored like me during the covid times you can stream all the new series on instaflixxer. Been watching with my gf for the last few days :)
Loved this! Demonstrates that a day trip in the woods can turn into a new experience. Doesn’t have to be an overnight or weekend trip, just take a few hours to enjoy the woods. Maybe practice some knife skills while enjoying your coffee? Love it Dan! You da boss!
I share your love of coffee. I can almost tast that coffee you just made. Love your videos too. You have taught me a lot. My camping and bushcraft must be done vicariously via your videos, Sean Kelly's etc, due to my age and mobility issues. Keep up the good work.
It is fun to watch you enjoy coffee in the woods. I've always thought that we like like what we like, and if we can do it in the woods, even better.
About 20 years ago, dry & dead bracken saved my life when I flipped a canoe on an October night in Northern Minnesota. I got a fire going with my "period-correct" fire kit and the bracken.
I like the simplicity of just getting out in the nature for the day, do a little fire and taste a good cup of coffee. Good reminder from you!
Thank you Dan for showing you can have GOOD coffee in the wild!!
I've been watching for over a month now, and I really enjoy your videos! Can get out in the woods but when I'm sitting on the porch with the snow coming down on me I know that's as close as I can get for now. Have a great day! And God bless you!
It’s a gravity bong and a French press had a baby...nice coffee kit.
'coffee for days' phrases like that just rope me in
Definitely more videos like this! 🤙🏻 love just walking through the woods
Something I've started carrying is a little pocket planer or end grain planer- they're tiny and very light but they take super fine shavings off wood. You can take a piece of wood and split into quarters to make sure you've got dry wood to work with- and use the planer to shave off the points of each quarter- you'll make long, thin, dry shavings that can easily be used to make a bird's nest. Within minutes you can have a soft ball sized ball of dry, super thin shavings that ignite super easily and can easily be blown into flame. Not to mention it's really handy when working wood- I love my Stanley pocket planner. I use it for everything from making a bow drill set to making tent pegs- and it's super effective. You can turn out work that looks like it was finished in a shop with it- you just have to keep it super sharp and know how to use it properly.
I see that you bring an axe with you to ward off any coffee poachers that may be lurking nearby. 😄 cool video sir.

You absolutely have to ward off coffee poachers... THEY'RE THE WORSE!!! 😆
Nothing like a good cup of Jo when you're in the woods!
Definitely a funny kool video…. You just being you and letting us in for a while and we got to learn a little about coffee 😂 Thanks Dan👍🏻
I don’t comment a lot but watch and like your channel thanks for the longer video
Good stuff . I feel like making a cup myself . Another great day in the woods .
PLEASE make some more like this. Love it
It can never be too strong with too much flavor. 😂. Thanks for the videos. Keep them coming. You do an awesome job
Been in the Smokies for the past few days! Love it. Thanks for sharing your adventure
not a fan of the aero-press myself, but coffee is coffee and all coffee is good because it's better than NO COFFEE
Stepping outside of your comfort zone is always a little unnerving but you pushed through it for the victory fire.
The trees are a choke point for deer, they made it that way for hunting,,,anyway,Thank you for not talking about this Pandemic,we appreciate it

Jason Pettit Then why did you have to go and ruin the peaceful relaxing morning. Way to kill the chill bro
Glad I'm not the only person overly picky about coffee
"No bush drinking" had me laughing and there isn't much to laugh at lately! Yum, good coffee is good.
Definitely do more of these. Good stuff!
99.%of your videos are great. Love watching you. Always enjoy. Thanks
That is how we roll. Collapsible cups. "LOL". That definitely presents an opportunity to do things a bit differently. I roll with the exact same set up. Grinder & Aero Press. You gotta belly laugh out a me. That's part of what makes your vids so good. So engaging. I have enjoyed everything I've watched you do. Most importantly, I learn something now & then. Thank you for all of it. By the way, congratulations on your new truck.
Absolutely enjoyed this video. Would definitely enjoy more of this type where you just talk, work away and drop little knowledge bombs. Thanks Dan.
It was a great video. Learn fire starting...Learn coffee...perfect combination!
I like all your videos so yeah I'd like to see more like this. Incidentally I'm not in the woods right now but I'm sitin in the middle of my garage floor on an overturned plastic bucket.with The door is open. I'm listening to the birdsv watching you in the woods. Almost like being there.
Great video..... And yes you should do more in the woods.
Shit, a 20 minute video? I'm pleasantly surprised.
You always do this ,make me want a coffee ,beer ,steak etc Another great vid keep them coming
Black Rifle Coffee Company will send it straight to your door, and if you're an NRA member, there's a discount. Or, you can order your beans green from Sweet Maria's (they're in Oakland CA) and roast your beans bushcraft style over an open campfire...
I have the same setup. I Love my coffee. Nothing beats fresh ground, pressed coffee in the woods!!! Great channel, keep it up!!
thanks for bringing us along Dan. nice little day hike. I'm going to the woods now!
Thank you for this good and entertaining but informative content. It’s usually never time wasted to watch and try what we see you do.
Time does seem to stop when in the woods. It's quiet and peaceful. Your senses are running full on. I hike the Appalachian trail quite frequently. Almost heaven
Thanks for everything you film. Liking the longer videos.
Nothing like coffee and fire to enjoy the day!
The twig on your head was a super nice touch.
Loved the video. Every time I watch I see new things to try. Keep 'em coming.
Yeah! That was a awesome video! Sometimes just the spontaneous ones like that with a little coffee break along the scout is just perfect!
He got 6 pieces of coffee making gear..... n a collapsible cup to save space. LOL. I look to u being part of the big 4 to get my spirits up with entertainment n knowledge. Especially with the current madness. Thanks.
I liked the video. Whole new segment coffee in the woods. Learning new techniques I'm making coffee.
Thoroughly entertaining!
Love taking my grinder camping. I have a little stainless steel french press that I can also just boil water in too.
I was just thinking I wish he would just go on a hike. There it is! You’re a coffee snob!! 😂love this channel. Stay in the woods!

Truly dedicated coffee drinker
So damn good! Lesson learned in all simplicity. Thank you, Master!
Thanks for the show you was great 👍 going out in the woods tomorrow 😀
I love your videos like this! Cook, drink and eat!
I for one love these videos. I really prefer the more lengthy ones. You just seem to really enjoy what you're doing. Conrats.
No clock better than Mother Nature's clock. Thanks enjoy
I enjoy your style and enthusiasm. Not elitist. Reminds me of my dad and the way he explained practical stuff. Carry on!
Just received the grinder from your website. Looking forward to a fresh ground pot of cowboy coffee in the woods. Thanks Dan.
My god! I need a cup of coffee!!! Excellent!
Fellow hiker/coffee junkie here, thanks for the info!
Love the camp coffee walk w/ Dan!
Cool video. I don't drink as much coffee as I used to, but I too like it strong. Nice walk, Dan.
You could always add some beard clippings to your bird's nest. ;)

Coffee with Coalcracker. Fun stuff
Sounds like good coffee. Thanks for showing the fire starting. Always helpful!
You love coffee as do I. Thanks for the post!
Definitely loved this video, even if this reply is 2yrs late. More of this type of bushcrafting needs to be taught. Training others to think in terms of "fundamental requirements of the task" required rather than the type or nature of plant (because what if there are none of the particular species around, or they don't grow in that country). Keep it up 👍👍👍
Gotta love a good cup o'joe in the woods! I like the idea of setting up challenges, keeping the skills sharp.
You can easily find Ramps in them mountains to eat!
good idea, looks like fun. thanks
Just ordered some whole bean Mexico Oaxaca from Augie's coffee via trade. Looking forward to grinding like a madman in the woods. Thanks for the discount code!
Yep. Good coffee is gold. I do an ultralight pour over set up but haven’t gone grinding the beans as well. Will have to try. The crazy looks from my mates when they drink the dehydrated coffee is worth it. That instant stuff is nasty.
Perfect mindfulness practice
Nice technique with the brew. Remember no more than 90 seconds, don't over brew
Omg horrible horrible time in the woods!!! 20 min I will never get back again...sheesh!! 😉😂🤥 Please do more like it! Stay safe and God bless. 🙏🇺🇸
Great video!! You’re right. It was fun. Keep them coming.
Love the video sir. Keep the videos coming.
Yes, you should do more videos like this. The coffee stuff was good too. I love coffee, but I'm not a coffee snob, just like I love beer, but I'm not a beer snob. It all tastes good, some just taste a bit better, but I have enjoyed coffee made so many ways, weak to strong, and I don't care if it is instant or fresh ground from the bean. 23+ years in the military, though, so I learned to like everything. I even like MRE's.
Enjoyed the video. I enjoy many days just like that.
The marking of the center of your tinder searchjng area is an awesome safety tip for the toolbox. Thanks for sharing, Prof.
and the music is Fire! (as the kids say)
Cool video Dan. The outdoor buzz mixed with the caffeine buzz lol. Good combination.
I didn't see you put your fire out. The foresters from Weiser State Forest want to know who burned the woods down. 😁
Coffee snob here! Loved this type of video. Keep up the good content.
Ok now that was good fun right there !!!! Good coffee in the woods from a flint and steel fire!!! Yesss.sir!! That’s good stuff.
Learned a few things. Thanks.
ThanQ Dan 🙏 God bless you
Love the show bro!! Definitely worth watching, the demonstration is fantastic
I also carry a grinder along as well its so worth it, for anyone who don't like it they can kick mud somewhere else!
Yes please. More more more
Hey Dan, I love your videos & I’ve learned a lot from you, thank you for what you do. BTW, I love your coffee videos 👌🏼
You did great Dan.👍 I'm not one of those people who's awake when my feet hit the floor. I bounce off the walls in the hall, stumble into the kitchen and can't find the 'start' button. That's why the coffee pot's on a timer.☺️ I was momentarily doubtful you were gonna get the that fire started, though. Should not have doubted you. 😉
Love the video sir! Keep doing what you do and thanks for the website info. Definitely gonna check them out.
