I absolutely love the contrast of the intro with the performance and then again with the Wendy & Madame outro. Together they capture something authentic about the early 80s for me, a time when TV was polite yet at the same time people were very open to all forms of alternative and kick-ass art music on mainstream TV when there were only a few channels and no Internet. Wendy you are missed.

I saw this in 1981 in 7th grade and it freaked me the fuck out. Watching it now it's even more over-the-top than I remembered. Visually it's crazy but her VOCALS are completely anti-music. Solid Gold was mostly top-40 and on occasion they would show you something wild.

Wendy showed up for this performance in her stage "clothes" which featured her breasts exposed in a leather top. Solid Gold refused to let her perform that way, and she refused to change. The makeup dept came to the rescue with a solution that satisfied both sides. They painted Wendy's breasts black! No one noticed. LOL. So in 1981 she became the first women to appear on US TV topless! LOL.

Yep, I can rest assure that no woman in Rock/pop or any other Genre will make a lasting impression that Wendy left on me. She, to me is the Queen of Heavy Metal & Queen of Punk & Not Marylin Manson nore Lady Gaga or any other artists can top it imo because not only did she do what she did, the stunts etc & breaking boundaries & taboos, but she did them when American was still Chips & Love Boat & Disco Dancing .The timeframe in those days makes everything she did then much more extreme than anything going on nowadays that bands do.

If I remember right Philo is the lead guitarist for Lee Ving & Fear! I love fear. Remember punk solos can't make too much sense or be too technically accomplished or they wouldn't be punk solos right?? 😂😂😂 I was always fascinated still am by Richie Stotts I met him at Perkins palace saw their sound check on his side of the stage it was without Wendy they were rehearsing songs and it was better than the show for me just seeing the band Jam Soundchecks rule! He was wearing Levi's and a t-shirt just a blue Mohawk No TuTu / French Maid outfit/ S+M mask etc.😆 tall guy nice guy - polite. he gave me one of his guitar picks and told me it's from the place he likes to go guitar shopping in New York Manny's! Also saw Wendy after the plasmatics at the Reseda Country Club with Michael Ray on Lead guitar he's he's a badass and that was a blistering set I enjoyed it I didn't know if it was going to be good or not without Stotts.
