Ear Training Quiz Playlist: www.youtube.co....
SOLFEGE EAR TRAINING LEVELS: eartrainingtcc.....
There are over 50 questions to answer in this 10 minute ear training quiz.
Each time the scale plays through quickly and then you hear Do (C in this case...) then it's Do to ... ??? ... you hear the note and then you should try to sing the correct answer (Do, Re, Mi, Fa, So, La, or Ti) before it appears (and the note is played again.)
You could also try finding the correct note on your instrument (before the answer is shown.)
The whole thing is in the key of C, I wanted to keep it simple for this one. I may try something similar in the future but moving from key to key.
Another idea I have is to reverse the process - instead of having the note come up and you try to figure out what it is ... I tell you what it is and then you sing it and then the note is there to check. That will probably be the next one.
As always if you have any suggestions leave 'em in the comments.
If you're looking for a good microphone (for recording voice or instruments) check out the mics I use myself over on my Amazon page (full disclosure: I earn commissions on any sales! but it doesn't change the price of the product for you at all.) Check it out: www.amazon.com...

It's great they have things like this on KZread. I play piano by ear, and my choir likes how I can differentiate and name the solfege without looking at it, and only hearing it. I want to improve though, cause sometimes she has to repeat. Makes me happy to try it on my own time.

That's an interesting idea. I am considering other methods ... like playing a major I chord (ie C major in the key of C) instead of going through the scale. I do think it's important to set the key .. but you're right that going through it every single time is probably not necessary. Although I think some people like singing through the major scale each time. But yeah.. I should keep making variations, different people will find the one that works for them.

Your video is excellent. I learned to play piano as a child using the solfege method. At the time I had no idea of the name. i just learned using the do, re me, etc keys. I hit teenage years, and gave up on the piano. Now as an adult I feel the desire to start again. To my surprise everything I found had letters or numbers. Nobody seemed to know about do re me. By sheer accident I found I had been taught using the solfege method. I have been practicing, identifying the notes using your video. Not sure where to find sheet music to read and start playing the piano again. Thank you for shedding some light in my confusion. I wish I had not stopped playing. I actually gave one public concert. I will remember how o play and read music again. El

This has been on my to do list for a long time. I am going to finally get to it soon. Maybe even today. My main question is whether I want to use the extended Solfege system (ie: "Di" for the note between "Do" and "Re") which can be a bit confusing or a numeral system (1, 2b, 2, 3b, 3..) I am leaning towards the latter.
