Calling the Free State "British-backed" when the Anglos had Michael Collins assassinated is a bit weird. The treaty was the less worst alternative, and Collins was already supplying the IRA in the North. Dev and Fianna Fail abandoned them.

^^^^ I agree. This channel and this song are great, but I do find it consistently ignorant to see so many people blindly take up arms and hold grunge towards their Irish brothers, who they fought with so long for freedom. (Both treaty and anti-treaty forces). It's truly unbelievable to me that the Irish Civil War happened. It disgusts me that the brave men who fought so dearly for their land would so quickly demonise each other. A tragedy indeed, and may Michael Collins, and men from both sides of the treaty, rest well.

This sounds like ass to me. Churchill and Loyd George knew Collins was supplying the IRA in Ulster. Dev may not have had an active part in it, but the remorse he showed later in his life shows, to me, that he definitely knew something was up.

@@zacharieelfali3401 this needs some unpacking, but I don’t think Dev Ordered Collins death either. I just simply think that it happened due conditions on the battlefield at that moment. Collins fended off attempts on his life before, so to say that the Anti-Treaty forces, wether or not they came from higher up in the command or not, were after him. Anti-Treaty forces deliberately ambushed Collins party. What other target could there be other than Collins? Many Prominent figures on both sides of the civil had previous training or Service with the British Army. Remember the Irish volunteer split in 1914? The vast majority became the National Volunteers, who were Irish nationalists but served in the BA in ww1. Only a minority stayed behind and Launched the Easter rising. One of Collins’ Party on that day was former British Army, Emmet Dalton. O’Neill being in the RIC and British Army isn’t very unique. He was not on the British Side during the war for Independence and was Firmly Anti-Treaty by the time or the civil war. Anyone claiming to know a whole lot more about the guy is false, we barely know anything about Denis, only what I’ve laid out here, and him being “a great sniper” It’s an Anti-Treaty, “Republican Legitimatist” cope that they killed one of Ireland’s mos beloved and respected Leaders. And they try anything to deflect the blame. But what do I know?

I actually studied this. Part of it is probably down to your own sympathies, but if you are the type to listen to this particular genre of music, it will become quite apparent that folk music is very much a Republican genre. Not to say that Loyalist don't play any of it, but in Ireland folk music is closely tied to nationalism (as it is most places I'd reckon). And if you have a stronger folk tradition, your music just tend to be better, because there's more of it and collectively the musicians have more experience

In honor of around 5,000 fallen Irish warriors who fought side by side with the Serbs against the Bulgarians, near Dojran there is still a Celtic Cross on which it is written: "In memory of those from the Tenth Irish Division who gave their lives in the defense of Serbia". The 10th Irish division with 8,000 fighters stopped the entire Bulgarian army of 99,497 soldiers at the Serbian border for a few days. When the time comes, the Serbians will be with the Irish brothers until the end. Serbia never forgets kzread.info/dash/bejne/l35pldClhM_HgtY.html

Lorsque des groupes importants de population ont subi la conversion linguistique au XIXe siècle, de nombreuses caractéristiques de la langue gaélique ont été transférées à l'anglais, ce qui a conduit à une maternalisation continue de l'anglais en Irlande.

England was in no position to do anything to Ireland they were negotiating debt restructuring and payments with the Americans after most of their debtors on continental Europe had defaulted the integrity of the imperial market was at stake so it would be unreasonable for them to start a genocide Ireland as they threatened, when the entire British empire was at stake and on top of that its how we got our current gang of goons who run the country for their personal gain in power. The Dail should have called Britain's bluff basically.
