It's white. It's a Soldano. Sold. I have an Eventide H9, a Boss DD-500 and a Torpedo CAB (Mk I) - they all are white. If I would buy this, I could do a completely white headphone rig. Call me superficial, but having a Soldano thing that even matches the color of my other all time favorite pedals would be a dream.

Hands down the best overdrive I have heard in 30 years or so.

I got this when it first came out, it's just great. I do function gigs,I have a Victory V30 and could never find a good distortion that worked, I always stacked overdrives to get a distorted tone. But this works great with a clean sound. I think Soldano got it right with the midrange, it sits perfect, I use it for ZZ top "Tush" ,"Gimme All your lovin" and "Born to be wild"

First demo I’ve seen where it doesn’t sound like crap

There's so many videos for this pedal (obviously the embargo is up) but this is by far the best because you're an actual Soldano guy as I associate you more with the Hot Rod 50 than any other amp. Chewy 80s hard rock riffs just dripping all over the place. 🤤🥵

I’m not a stomp box sort of player but that pedal is the one to carry with you when you haven’t got your own rig with you! Very wide and pro sounding indeed. One for my wish list now.

Others may contest this, but I can really hear the 'bite' from the maple fretboard. Awesome that this pedal can bring out or highlight such nuances.

Great demo. Great playing. Thought the sweet spot was with the gain around 9 o’clock as with a lot of gain pedals I use and like but thought I was done with getting any new dirt boxes. But might have to get one of these.

This pedal seems to come alive at the1or 2 o'clock position with the gain setting. Nice! Got mine last week.

I knew you'd review this eventually even though so many reviewer beat you to it this morning.

Just when I'm forgetting how much I love Soldano. Yeeeesh. That's straight from high gain heaven.

Wow. It actually sounds pretty good.

That's... amazing. Not only did they capture the sound of one of my all-time favorite amps, they expanded it. No end of possibilities. Even cat was impressed, for a short while anyway.

That sounded Awesome, it would also would have been nice to hear it on say straight through a Marshall lead 12 solid state

I love how when you hit these amp-in-a-box pedals with a boost, they actually DO behave like an amp.

I was wondering about that, want to put an Mxr micro amp in front of this pedal as a gain boost and keep a lower gain setting on the Slo as a rhythm tone thru a clean amp.

Very good demo sir. Killer tones! The LP tones were the best to me 🤟🏼 I run it through TR Studio Sig head with its matching 1/12 closed back cab for some pretty righteous tones

This pedal sounds awesome. It might find its way on my pedal board after i get my interface

Wow, you made it sound killer. I liked your low gain Schenker demo, which makes me wonder how this unit would sound stacked with a TS or K type into a Marshall.

It was nice to hear some actual useful tones around 9:37..before that I was like this is all metal... then I heard some butter after that point that really sounded awesome.

This pedal is the most addictive pedal Ive ever played! If you are on the fence about it then get off the fence because this thing is just ridiculous good and super fun to play!

I think this is just the preamp from the SLO MINI head. Sounds great.

I bought one if these immediately. I've been waiting for a Soldano in a pedal ever since I sold my Avenger. There are a few knock offs but this one sounds really great. Which makes sense since it's and actual Soldano.

The tone with the Les Paul and Eq pedal at the end is ridiculous

I run this slo pedal along with a revv g3 pedal and have them together so I can switch back and forth with one foot press, get every tone in the book along with a ts mini

Break You and a Wolfie, like whipped cream and a cherry combo for my sundae! Was the pedal in the loop as a preamp or in front of the module? I think the pedal is fantastic! 👍

A Boss SD-1 into a Marshall JCM 2000 is a match made in heaven for me.

with the eq boost hell yeah, that's the tone, because without, you know... is just like another pedal. I have the AMT S2 pedal (the Russian Soldano option) I'm very interested in trying this pedal for compare both of them. I’m thinking this pedal would be wonderful addition to get those slo sounds. They are reverb-0-Sonics 4x10 with 4x10 cabs making 8x10 stacks. Ya I have a pair of them in Mikes favorite purple. (Ya I’m an incorrigible gear whore haha) If I can get your email I’d be happy to send some pictures.

Also have a pair of Soldano original tube overdrive pedals. My initial thought was to use them to get closer to the slo sound running them through the reverb-o-Sonics. Which they agreed would get me close. Now I kick myself for not getting a couple slo’s. But what interested me more at the time was the decatone.

The reason I call them one off is because we put a solo option like a Mesa and a variable bass boost with a wag pedal converted to a 5 way selector so you can choose from 5 different frequencies for the low boost.

Sounds great but Honestly think this is pretty much the Preamp section of the mini head in a pedal . So I’d think it would probably sound even better & more like a SLO straight into a power amp or direct with a IR or cab sim. Instead of using it as a drive/dirt pedal into the front of a clean amp wich is admittedly add a little color of its own.

I'm either becoming a guitar boomer or this pedal is flat out amazing. I was seriously considering the "chug" pedal recently and this seems like I'd get a ton more mileage out of it... very interested. Awesome demo as always man!

That thing sounds good no matter the setting it seems. Sounds awesome. Really good and very close to a Soldano at times. Very boogie like as you mentioned as well. ♥️🤘♥️... Good stuff. There’s no difference between overdrive and distortion, or fuzz for that matter. These terms have been used for all sorts of tones over the years and it’s only more recently they’ve started to mean a particular type of clipping. Plus the name comes from the amp.

Will such a pedal connected to a not so gainy amp sound as good? I have a Suhr badger 18 and it can get Upto AC/DC type gain very well but I wonder if I can get high gain sounds without going for another loud amp

I would love your thoughts on this against the 5150 overdrive? I have the 5150 pedal.

Hey Leon, I just sold my SLO 30 cause to me... it sounded really flat and hard to cut through the mix... the standard complain people have about the BAD built SLO's. Listening to your Hot Rod 50 sounds way more like a Mike built SLO with a brighter high end. You think this pedal does the trick? I currently run a Lucky 13 with an EQ in front of the amp and I love it, but I sort of miss the SLO sounds... Thanks!

That's the first Clapton album i ever heard, and some of his very best! You could probably get pretty close with this into a high powered clean tube amp with the right speakers.

the stacked section with the EQ2 would be pretty similar - I'm pumping in a strong mid boost on that one.

@@LeonTodd Kind of, but actually made by Mesa and Soldano. Like a IIC+ with IR's the size of an FM3 or a Cortex. More like the new Blackstar unit you reviewed without the power. We discussed it before. I think there's room for it in the market. Dedicated micro preamp floor units. Just a 2 channel preamp with features mentioned that a player could use on a pedal board. Fluidly switching between channel using other pedals or a processor like the HX Effects for their effects. Compact and easy to fly rig like any pedal board or modeler.

@@hansgrayman4809 theres a guy in Bulgaria that makes exactly what you are describing. Arthursound preamps. I got a silver jubilee preamp last year and its amazing! Hes got a version for most of the top amps. Marshall/mesa/Soldano/Engl. And the pricing is not too bad as well

Yeah snake skin would be proper, way more Metal vibe ,great pedal although I hope to get one ,so much gear ⚙️ is popping up man it's mind boggling 😆 peace man.

Most likely it's gonna have to go through the effects loop....and used as a preamp.

Congrats! Just pop the latest fw straight in. Might be worth downloading the factory presets and reinstalling too.

It's not SLO100 but damn it sounds good! A friend of mine who is a real professional guitar player uses one on clean channel of TriAxis! 😳🙂
