As usual, You and Your team and Your son always come up with something new and so very COOL!!! Very Very useful. I will be glad when You have one for both solar and wind turbine with a lot more ac wattage. Congratulations and keep up the great work. I retired to Central America ( Panama ) and we have some land way off grid and something like this would be very beneficial. We will have to look at solar and wind turbine power again. The cost of the correct batteries down here is completely out of the question. a decent battery bank would be around $2600. Eventually You will have what I need. Come on Santa help them out.

I love what you’ve done with this! I remember asking your opinion of the “Buck Boosters” about 6 months back. It’s a transformer type. I am so pleased that you’ve done research and shown innovation. MW&S is the absolute best company in the industry. I will always continue to use your products. Note to first time viewers…. Subscribe to this channel and dive deep into it if you know what’s good for you. You will not find a more compressive site anywhere on the Internet for wind and solar energy generation, application, and innovation. Good job as always Jeff…. Couple of weeks and we should have the first one done. We also have a scaled up version to. We could havve run that pump with just a 55 watt panel.

HI. I have two large koi ponds with that almost identical aeration pump that I use. I realized the panels aren't strong enough to power the actual koi pond/pump that goes to the filter. But sometimes in the summer we lose power. It would be nice to have your set up for the aeration, as well as during the day to cut back on my bill somewhat. Don't know how much these guys cost to run 24 hrs a day. My electric bill averages 450 a month tho. So question is, how much for everything you are showing here? Also, is there a way it can automatically switch over to the grid when the sun goes down, or do I have to physically be there to switch it over? Cause that would be impractical. Thanks!

Hey Jeff and Wyatt, been doing some research into passive solar water heating and realized this would be a great way to circulate the water thru the collection coils when the sun is on both the collector and the solar panel. Thus circulating the water when the sun has the most heating potential... When ya gonna sell these puppies? Be nice as a kit too as I like to build my own stuff. Cheers

Great too for septic tanks I have a pump running 7/11 90watts. It does not have to be on 24hrs so your system would be perfect. There is probably 400,000 homes in Ireland with septic pumps like mine. Yes the sun shines in Ireland.

Could someone add a pack of super capacitors to the power input side of the charge controller? This way if a few clouds pass by quickly there would be no interruption of power delivery. +MissouriWindandSolar the Danner Pondmaster AP-100 pump has the following specs from their website: Air Volume: 9150 cu.in/min Max. Water Depth: 11.5' Noise Level: 45 dba Watts: 100 Weight: 16.5 lbs Tubing (Not Included): 3⁄4" I.D. Pressure: 6.53 psi Cord Length: 6' Dimensions (L x W x H): 12.25" x 8.5" x 8.75" Amps: 1.5 I want to use this pump in a solar powered pond aerator setup. I calculated turning over a 45000gal pond at least once per 24hrs requires approx 4.3cfm. Presuming the pump draws 100 watts constant, would your solar setup supply enough power to safely run the pump so as not to harm it? What pump are you using in your demonstration in this video? It looks like a Danner Pondmaster AP-40 (40watt) pump. Here is Danner's link to the AP-100: www.dannermfg.com/Store/Products/Danner/PID-04580.aspx If anyone has a correction to my math on daily pond turnover calcs, please feel free to correct. Thank you VERY much for any helpful information.

For those of us who have 12 volt pumps already installed.....is the inverter meant to be hardwired in, or can you go directly from panel>controller>pump?

  • @MissouriWindandSolar

Yes it can be used with or without the ac inverter. DC pumps like stable voltage too and the problem is there are some DC equipment that is junk and costly. AC stuff is much easier to find and a lot of times less expensive. Wyatt

Can you explain why the Solar panel can't be hooked directly to the inverter..

+targabill if you hook the solar panel directly to the inverter, you would have reset the inverter each time the sun is blocked or goes down

Curious how big of a pond can this setup aerate?? We just had a Fish Kill(over 300)on a local pond due to low oxygen levels, happened last year as well and I want to avoid if possible in the future.

+MissouriWindandSolar An acre seems manageable ..unfortunately my pond is 15acres(maybe its a lake) ...and a recent housing development site has robbed the pond the natural run off spring in to the pond, hence almost zero water movement. Sad really. The damage has been done.

I think an electric chainsaw will draw more current that a 400w inverter can provide - startup could draw quite a lot.

Yes that's ok. Look at the back of your solar panel. You can put up to 5 amps worth of solar panels to the charge controller.

what are the power limitations, maximum solar panel, 12 vs 24 inverter, maximum inverter wattage?

  • @MissouriWindandSolar

We haven't decided that yet. Right now just 400 or 800 watt inverter and a 55 or 100 watt panel.

MissouriWindandSolar Jeff I received the system and have been operating it over the last month. cleared algea on the pond and has worked well. it stopped working a week ago but the pump was running. I pulled the diffusor and it was pushing out water. I believe as the system shuts down, water advances back the diffusor and may airlock as the pump is not real strong. I am going to add a one way valve to see if that fixes the problem. Great product Jeff
