Thanks for the video. Having PV on a roof and in my field I agree with your idea of putting them on the house sides. In snow shed areas you just don't want panels on the roof, you'll lose a couple of months of energy production. With long summer days we always generate enough to run everything and keep the batteries charged but not in the winter with its short days.

Great video and great ideas. I'm in Northern Ontario with same snow challenges. Curious how the panels are mounted on the house. Do you mount a railing to the house or are panels mounted directly to the house? If you have a video on install, can you point me to which one. Many thanks.

8-17KW depending the amount of charging needed. I have 16 6V lead acid batts.

I'm looking into building a similar system in Michigan, how Does it handle during High wend storms like tornados, what should i look for in the design regarding that? Also have u thought about adding some sort of salt prine on the top of the panel to spray and melt ice? Just an idea

Could adding a cooling system to that back of the panels help during summer months

The first couple videos discuss cost. Was it worth it, yes absolutely, but that has little to do with Return on Investment and more to do with power independence. It cost about 40K but that includes lots of appliances like a generator and propane installs.

Is it possible for your solar panels to drain your battery bank if there's no incoming sun, given that the panels themselves are 2 types of metal put together with some positive and negative charge together?

Does ice reflect better than snow? I'm wondering if the angle of the surface of the snow or ice under then panels affect the reflection efficiency. Have you tried moving snow or ice from other areas on your property under the panels to increase the number of days with reflection?

Snow reflects better than ice, the angle of the light matters a lot but is not as important as cloud cover or other blocks like trees and such.

Ok, let me be the critical one. It clearly once was a beautiful house. Is there no way to do what you do and keep it looking nice ? Maybe smaller panels that make an aestetic symmetrical pattern on the walls. Sorry, brutal honesty here, but right now it really does not look at all attractive any more.

Building from scratch, the panels could be incorporated into the design. Based on the design of the house, I think he added panels to an existing building, and given he is off grid and rather far north, he, had to maximize the area of the panels.
