Solar Cell from Copper👍

How to make solar cell from copper plate and cuprous oxide.
newphysicist.com/make-solar-c...
It's a Diy tutorial to make Solar cell. Cuprous oxide is a semiconductor, just like doped silicon, and was one of the first materials experimented with as a solar cell. But its efficiency was found to be so low, around 1%, that researchers stopped trying, though the occasional set of experiments are still done in research labs and papers published. It was also used to make commercially sold diodes and may still be, since that's what a solar cell is - a photosensitive diode.

You forgot to prove it was a photovoltaic cell. Looks like a wet chemical cell. Sun and shade while on meter.

This type of solar cell videos circulated when youtube was first launched. Since then, there are so many others replicating this just to prove how lousy it is. Man, do some proper research, you can find FABULOUS home made solar cells. Don't be just another one flogging the internet with crappy stuff.

You have some powder in the water - so a portion of your solar cell is galvanic action and only small part of it is from red copper oxide.

Very good thanks! There is a way to get more voltage from a battery or solar cell but it takes capacitors and a power supply for a timer circuit controlling silicon-controlled switches.

It will work a lot better if you did it right... you need to lay them with the flat side down so more surface area is being hit with sunlight.. if you are smart enough to understand how to build it and how it works.. you should already know that the more surface that gets hit by light the more energy produced... have you ever seen a solar panel on a roof that looks like your contraption??
