I'm with you. I'm a 50 year old hard ass that doesn't give a fuck about anything but Sohyang brings me to tears. She's amazing. Her story is also amazing. She is a cancer survivor. She is also a successful science fiction writer. She also survived getting hepatitis from a blood transfusion and she still wants to raise people up by singing for the glory of God. She is amazing.

I often wonder if the folks in the audience that night know how incredibly lucky they were. One of the greatest vocal performances ever, and she will likely never sing this song again. I know everyone loves the ascending run to the Bb5 and the spoken word section but my favorite moment is 7:25 with the shoutout to the audience along with that incredible smile amongst the floating confetti. The joy she conveys while sharing her gift with the audience just can't be faked and it's a throughline across all of her performances.

And I love her.

Epic!!! She took us on an emotional rollercoaster of a journey with this performance. Arguably the most technically challenging and emotional song she has ever sang. Seven minutes of intense stamina and breath control. Sohyang is next level. Thank you for a great reaction. Check out her renditions of Arirang Alone (2015) and You Raise Me Up next (make sure it's the 2018 version from Immortal Songs 2). Look forward to the next Sohyang reaction.

Nice analysis. So Hyang talks about her evolution in singing from being technically perfect to 100% feeling and giving peace to those in need. She has toured to over 50 countries singing at churches and at special charitable events. She suffered many bouts of Pneumonia in 2018 and almost quit singing. She was in the States and saw quote from Roosevelt about fear came back home and found a new direction and the rest is history. She is still technically perfect and is the most emotive real singer out there. You nailed her main goal in life. Enjoy your So Hyang journey.

Exactly man. Ur interpetation of her performance is actually pretty much 100% how I feel about her. She is absolutely amazing....

This is her masterpiece but Bridge Over Trouble Waters and Arriang Alone are some of her other amazing performances.

Apparently this song was the most difficult performance Sohyang has ever done (according to her). Some of my other favorites from her are Bridge Over Troubled Water, Breathe, Mona Lisa, Where Are You (without cuts), I Have Nothing, You Raise Me Up (this one she did while she was sick with pneumonia, look it up), and Arirang Alone (my personal favorite). Where Are You is an emotional masterpiece. I'm over 50 years old, heard many great songs, but this was the first time in my life that I cried because of a song. Her ability to connect you emotional with her voice is absolutely stunning. That's why I call her the best singer in the world.

I appreciated your willingness to be engrossed in Sohyang's art, and I can see that she moved you very much. I am not a religious person, at all; nor am I especially fond of some of the vocal traits commonly associated with the modern-day pop diva. Sohyang has the whole kit-bag of riffs, belts, mixes and whistles, and of course they are testament to her consumate skill, musicianship and dedication. But what impresses and enthralls me is the absolute sincerity of her singing, her humility as the conduit for her gifts, and the compassion that motivates her faith. Everything that comes out of her mouth, every gesture she makes on stage, is invested with those qualities, and the perfection of her technique is the means by which she achieves her purpose. She is not demanding attention for herself, but rather for what it is that she wants to tell us. I know that the tag "Korea's Mariah Carey" is intended as a compliment, but it is a lazy one. Sohyang is not a double for some other, more famous singer. She is sui generis, and the perfect embodiment of herself.

I've yet to hear a finer vocal performance... Amazing..

This simple rendition will explain why Sohyang is the greatest vocalist on this planet. No one can even try her.

Sohyang is one of the best vocalist to mix power and emotion and this song shows it perfectly in my opinion. There are only a few that hit as hard as Sohyang, Song SoHee is another that comes to mind, her traditional Pansori singing style and incredible vocals makes it a unique experience, you should listen to her song tearful duman river if you haven't already, I'm sure you'll be interested in the unique volcal techniques used in that type of singing.
