"Your desk set up doesn't make you productive, your time management skills and discipline do." great quote thats true i think

Environment is also important. Having a focus, comfortable and clean setup actually helps in motivating which can leads to better productivity. Having a personal touch/style also doesn't hurt. Just my 2 cents :)

It's true and needed to be said. Thanks to the youtube algorithm, I 've done nothing but watch home office setups over the past few days. No one says it explicitly, but there's always the undercurrent that this is what you need to be productive and it's just bullshit. What' is being sold is the idea that if you BUY this and this and this, you will be able to achieve what you want, when achieving what you want has little to do with all the fancy setups on display. Obviously, those setups are nice to look at and that's tje reason I am watching those videos.

Absolutely! Very well said @Utsav
"Your desk set up doesn't make you productive, your time management skills and discipline do." This should be a t-shirt merch 😁 Great video as always 😊

I was hooked when he said this! Great video!!!
The environment you place yourself in has a huge impact on comfortability and therefore productivity. You have a great balance with some nice toys. Also, that Infinity War scene gives me chills every time.

Best scene ever.
That line "None of this is required for becoming a good software engineer". Its everything. One more subscriber to your list.
1:32 I really love and appreciate that you are making the difference between need and want. No one really talks about it although I think it's very important
Your each word makes pure sense....so grateful that we have some one like u in KZread... lots of love from 🇮🇳
Nice job telling your viewers about the "wants and needs" as well as productivity. You are 100% right on both
First couple of minutes in and I can tell this guy is super based and humble. Keep grinding my man!
Love the intro regarding 'want not need'. I've watched (and enjoyed) loads of 'desk tour' vids and always balk a little at the productivity claims. Plastic potted plants are nice but I'd like to see a study re: their relationship to productivity...
I'm a natural night owl. I love this setup. 😊
How politely he talks ... very humble person
First time I see someone finally saying the truth that your desk setup doesnt make you productive, but its your time management skills. Great words.
With great salary , comes great desk setup - Sun tzu (Art of war)
I really appreciate a lot your intro and how you explain how productivity is not provided by the things you use, but by yourself, I think is a concept that people who are approaching software engineering in general should consider, so thank you for your message!
Dang. This is a well produced video 😮 You’re making me want to take a second look at my own dev desk setup.
the first message that you gave in the intro ......... just won my heart .
Saw your 3 videos and 1 line common in 2 of those videos, "difference between wanting something and needing something" Very powerful sentence!!
Thank you, Utsav! We have a lot in common ;) This gave me great ideas about separating my studio and work space. And love the couch idea! Now time to shop, and come up with how to consolidate 4 32" monitors into 1 superwide........Great video!
Thank you for pointing that your setup is not what makes you productive. People need to stop the search for amazing good looking setups and start putting the work where it is needed. With that being said, I loved your setup, great work!
I really liked the fact that you started off by saying all of this is not important for software dev. That is very imp to be said and I think it should be like a template for anyone giving us their desk tour. Because ultimately 99% people watching might not have such a luxury, and it does instigate self doubt subconsciously that man, I can't have that.
Without a doubt I greatly enjoyed this video. We’re cut from the same tree in terms of style. Working in low light, the type of desk, I also use Razer, just overall a clean minimalist style. Last but not least, the philosophy and reasoning behind why you selected everything. Great job and style!

Thank you, appreciate the comment :)
Respect for talking about how this is all not completely necessary, the most important thing really is the chair as taking care of your health is a non negotiable.
Awesome ❤️❤️❤️ there's always a difference between something u need and something u want .
Love your set-up, During the first of this year I made a custom desk for the new rig I built, Im retired and decided to go back to school, gonna try to get a BS as a Software Developer.
Damn, i know this video wasn’t meant to be a flex but this video is a complete flex.
The Herman Miller Aeron is absolutely amazing. I can sit for over a day straight and not really get fatigued. Go bigger on the size though. Get the C if you fit in the B.
great video , you said it right , it's the person who is productive , not the table , but let me add , a comfortable chair or desk helps you to stay more time in focus ,
I really enjoyed the tour, it's really inspiring... and as usual great content
This is the best setup I've seen so far. great job
The best part is the dog in the video!!
Great video bro. And also a huge salute for not discussing the total cost. Because there are a lot of people like me who can't afford this setup but they still get their work done
Having a room like this is my dream, working hard each day to achieve this goal
Dang. This is a well produced video You’re making me want to take a second look at my own dev desk setup.
You are living my dream man.
Thank you for sharing, your home office looks very good and inspiring! 😎
"Time management skills..." Truth!
Currently designing my room using sketchup. This is the video that inspired me to do so. Slowly but surely I'll improve the room little by little. Maybe the only different thing is that I like the opposite of your room: very bright room lighting because it prevents me from getting sleepy
Crisp, concise, informative...couldn't agree more on the back support part...!
Great setup and room! Thanks for sharing.
Well now I can watch your videos at night. Thanks for not blowing my eyes out!
Great stuff man, your setup is awesome, also to make a note of what you said about setup doesn't make you productive it actually does. Working in a comfortable and relaxing environment actually contribute to you being productive, whereas distraction is a concern, you just need to be discipline and get task done anyway good stuff thou keep up the good work.
That's so cozy environment something truly of my liking 😎. Will work hard to achieve my dreams 🙌 Great video as always. 👍
Everything is exceptional, but If i had to choose one i would say your table. :). Mind blowing setup... Awesome video,.
This is the set up I need!! I'd never get out from there. Hopefully I'll do a setup like this once i finish my SE degree.

This is not the setup you need, it's a setup you want :) Subtle difference.
That setup is absolutely beautiful! 🤩
wow, best setup ive ever seen. also close to the most expensive, but none of it is wasted on dumb gimmicks. I am completely jealous
owwww ywaaah , Now your talking !! OMG. all that raw compute power, is just mwaaah!!
Your smile at the last part of the video made me smile 😊
Like you, I like foggy days. The office is great but I seriously love your dog. Dogs/Cats and books make a house a home.

100% agree!
Gems in this video is top tier, not even talking about the tech tips either lol 💪😅
Such a great video explaining both, the importance of mental as well as physical health❤️ But the disclaimer was the most favourite part of mine, saying " THESE THINGS FALL UNDER WANT'S, NOT NECESSITIES", absolutely love it❤️❤️
Great advice my friend.
Very well said about being productive.
He love fogy days guys. This is today new to be me.
It's not the workspace, but the work that makes you want to leave or stay. 1. A good workspace + crappy work (incompatible with you)= hours of sitting there procrastinating never getting anything done. 2. A good workspace + good work = hours of sitting there being productive, maybe more than you actually need to be 3. An average workspace + crappy work = hours of being elsewhere procrastinating. 4. A average workspace + good work = sitting there for the optimal amount of time, getting it done and moving on elsewhere. Personally, I prefer #4 above. These workspace setup videos are just eye candy. Although this one seems like much sweeter candy
Thanks for the tour, I have a somewhat similar setup in the making and will look up at Denon receiver. :)
"Wanting something and Needing something" says it all.
Loved your opening comments. Spot on!
Incredibly impressive setup and great video!
Your setup is amazing!
You got a new fan here. Thank you!
That's just awesome 😍😍
Love your setup. Very clean. 10/10
very nice and relaxing work space

This is the best one I’ve seen so far. I’m definitely copying some things from your setup.
Great Vibe Vruh , Sick Monitor ..Love it
great space, think about adding phillips hue hdmi lighting around TV. provides more of an immersive environment by extending the TV screen dynamic colors as backlights around your TV. it's pricey but a game changer if you are a big movie guy. thanks again for the vid.
I absolutely agree about back and knees.
I absolutely adore that desk. I had no idea they had motorized adjustable height desks.

i like this set up a lot, im going to be doing something similar here soon. I'm waiting on the 55" arc to come out later this year
you just gave me a purpose in this life
You are my kinda person, working (coding) in the dark is awesome.
Very beautiful setup!
How amazing this is...My dream set up
I would love to know how you go by not touching the mouse. Interested to know how you can achieve that level of coding experience. Do you use VIM? Pls share and thank you for the videos
Cool Setup. Looks like you are the type of guy who wants to collect every tech gadget that is latest and greatest innit!

Wow. Your setup is slick !!! ** Dream mode ** I am a huge gaming fan. That PS5 :-* Keep making such videos and inspiring people !! :) Even though this is off topic, this video motivates me to get into this niche role I always wanted to at MS. Thanks so much for posting such cool stuff, with a ** humane touch **
Wow that's really great vedio content i have ever seen , your environment of working space is dam good 🤩 , Btw thanks this much detailing vedios and words you say it has great impact sir.
I love that desk though lol. “To this day, to this day!” - Deontay Wilder
like your honest comments that it's not necessary to become Good software Engineer! kudos to you!
9:09 I can hear immersive audio though my SONY XM4 . First time landed over your video. Good Editing and content. Nice Setup but not minimalist. Can distract someone like me. Thanks for sharing your setup.
Awesome setup and also loved the b-roll in the intro! Just ordered a 49” ultrawide beast, coming from a 34”... we shall see how I like it!
