Soft Switching Hard Switching vs Resonance | Resonant Converters | Power Electronics

This power electronics video presents an introduction to hard switching and soft switching and how resonant converters and circuits can be utilized to minimize such power loss . Inadequate switching is the main contributor to power losses in power converters. As the switching frequency increases, the average power loss in the device increases as well.

Thank you for this explanation. Just a small remark, i think that you had to emphasize that the resonance occurs (inductors and capacitors cancel each other) at certain frequency (resonant frequency)

Above the resonant frequency, rectifier diodes or transistors (whatever used) can not achive ZCS means not soft switched and it will increase switching loss. What do you think sir ?

please sir,i was wondering if you can tell me how we can achieve ZVS in LLC converter with GaN half bridge topology and GaN don't have a body diode,so where does current flow to make voltage across the device zero before turn it on.thank you

Why would we want to completely filter the higher harmonics? Dont thier energy transfer to the output as well?
