When I was a kid, I'd find my hairbrush before going to bed and look at the sky while making my wish, hoping that it'll become the magic paintbrush that'll take me to the place I want to be. Constant as the Stars Above feels so hopeful. I miss my pure innocent and sweet thinking.

I'm so sad right now. Crying silently in my room. And whenever I'm in this state, I always listen to Barbie songs (in piano) and cry harder. It encourages me to just let all the feelings out and be calm after. I just wanna go back to the time when I was a child. 💔 No broken family, no huge problems, no deep-rooted pain.

u wanna know why they're underrated? bcs it's "girls movies", and therefore they're associated with bimbo girl-stereotypes. Barbie is for many an icon for "bimbos", "stupid blonde" and "whores". This is DESPITE her kindness, cleverness and braveness that is obvious to anyone who watched the movies. Simply bcs she's a feminine girl, who isn't ashamed of her femininity, she is proud of it, wearing glittery pink shoes and pink lipstick, and therefore she ("she" referring to Barbie as the character) has to take this shit. For me, she isn't an icon for a bimbo or a slut, she is an icon for a strong woman and a hero

@@herman5302 Could not have said this any better. Barbie is an icon for many of us in her movies because of her kindness and her willingness to help others in their time of need. She is always brave in her adventures and uses her femininity and the fact that she is underestimated to her advantage (e.g. in magic of pegasus where she literally uses her hair ribbon to save herself from death). She is beautiful physically yes, but it is her beautiful spirit that makes her an amazing woman for us all. Also women who have blonde hair, take care of themselves or appear feminine are often undermined for these things but Barbie NEVER let that stop her. Barbie is the reason I've grown out of a pink-hating child to a woman who always wears sparkly pink nail polish and has barbie stickers on her laptop haha. She gave me the confidence to do these things and not feel undermined by others for it. We can all learn something from barbie no matter who we are.

Old Barbie movies are just so magical!

We miss the old Barbie movies. The were pure and magical. Now there are nothing like that. I’m so glad that I met these movies.

The Barbie as Rapunzel movie was one of my absolute favourites as a kid, bring me back to being a little kid in the early 2000's without a care in the world

You know what's great about this? We can all enjoy it around the world. We may know these songs with different lyrics and translations, but the melody is still memorable and the same

This takes me back to my childhood when my older sister still alive. We watched every barbie movie, and our younger sister was born obsessed with mermaidia and fairtopia. Just something about hearing this music again makes me feel like a kid again and nothing bad ever happened yet. Like theres still a future ahead of us just waiting to be lived.

I want to learn ‘Right here in my arms’ and ‘If you love me for me’💗

This is beautiful. Let's all thank Arnie Roth for providing us some masterpieces in those old Barbie movies. Princess and the Pauper hits different. The vocal lines are actually quite difficult, to sustain a concentrated sound while keeping the text clear. It's a lovely challenge and earworm. 💯

i always find it fascinating how nostalgia can give people such unique insights and interpretations of the simplest pieces of media. in a more critical lens, all of the barbie movies were probably just a way for mattel to sell some extra DVDs and toys, but people still took that and made something beautiful with it

At times like this, I wish I had friends to listen to this music with them in the quiet of my room. I always denied that I liked Barbie, because "I'm not like other girls", but deep down I always wanted friends to hang out with, without being seen as an object. I'm 23, and I listen to this music while writing or coding I wish all of you the best ❤️

i feel so blessed to be able to grow up with these barbie movies and having them as part of my childhood memories ❤❤

Barbie is what made my whole childhood enjoyable , & I'm not from a really wealthy family at all. So thinking back, it's amazing how much joy & energy the movies would transmit to my little self although lots around me was low states. I wish something had the same affect on me now as an adult.

Crying 😭😭😭

I suffer from anxiety and other anxiety disorders and I getsick easily (like vomiting). So on the subway to college I put on this melody nonstop and it calms down so quickly. Im thankful from the bottom of my heart.

It was already decided that Barbie’s songs would be included in my wedding and sister’s wedding music list 🥺 but why do i feel at peace and recall all those beautiful childhood memories 😭 someone stop me from crying …

My mama introduced us to barbie when we re young. Im happy that I always remember her and our childhood with her. She listens to the barbie songs and write the lyrics for us to sing. 💓💓

I really miss those movies. I still can't believe it's been so long since they came out, I remember watching them like it were yesterday but I guess been over 15 years for some of them, WOW!!! Αnd I love how most pieces are from the princess and the pauper. It did have the best music out of all those movies.

When she first heard the repunzel song, I really really believed the painting in the portrait to be the most beautiful and calming places to be and wanted to live there. I really really wanted what she had🥹 the nostalgia hurts but it brings so much good times🥹

That Rapunzel theme oh my god...brings back so many memories! My little sister would watch these old school barbie movies and I would watch them with her to keep her company but also because I low key adored how charming they are. Such great memories!

As silly as it might sound to some people, these songs are and will always be one of the best things from my childhood. Constant as the Stars Above is one of the first songs I remember ever singing, there is actually an old voice recording (thanks dad) where I sing it terribly off key but straight from my little 5-year old heart 😂 I loved the storyline of Rapunzel and it always made me cry (in secret, had to act tough) when she was reunited with her father in the movie. That and Princess and the Pauper - especially Erika's character - were probably one of the biggest reasons why I grew to love singing and music in general. These movies have given me so so SO much and I will cherish these memories forever. ☺️ Thank you for these beautiful piano versions, they help me to calm down when I'm feeling anxious!
