I took the Metro from the airport to the center of Sofia for $1. Trip was smooth and only 30 minutes. The money I saved by not taking a taxi was enough for an excellent first-night dinner

Right , Sofia metro is not very fast but cheap

The 3rd line (more modern than this one) will be inaugurated next week :) Hopefully you manage to shot a new video.

If they ordered 81-765 trains then it's ideal for the station designs. Such a shame that stupid sanctions against Russia making not order the new Metrowagonmash trains and just getting a stupid modernization on 81-717 trains. I don't think newest 81-775 will look ideal on Sofia Metro. Newest Metrowagonmash models have air disinfection system which kills 99.9% bacteria and virus is installed before the COVID-19 pandemic in the air conditioners, it's convinient even during the pandemic. 81-740.2Б doesn't even have air disinfection system.

Aint nothing about sanctions here. EU imposes 28% excise tax on powered rail transport imported to EU from other countries. This makes those new russian trains a whole lot more expensive than EU built trains. Those Siemens Inspiro are built in Poland and cost isnt high. Not to mention, that Siemens has capacity to provide warranty service after purchase in every EU country while MetrovagonMash will have to build such facilities from the ground up. In the late 2000s LiAZ basically left Chisinau, Moldova without service branch, while Chisinau bus depot ran more thant 50% of its service with Liaz buses. Basically Liaz defaulted on their own warranty. Is there a guaranty that Metrovagon wont do the same? And speaking of the sanctions... The arent stupid. Stealing a whole peninsula from your neighbor is.

Yall can call it beautiful all day long, but why those russian trains suppose to be so effing LOUD? Its everywhere in former soviet metros: Moscow, Petersburg, Kyiv, Minsk, Nizjny Novgorod, Kazan, Sofia. Budapest trains were loud before they were overhauled. Why!!!??? It's like they have Pratt&Whitney attached to them in the back for propulsion!
