Sofía Viola: "Music is Medicine"

Join us on Thursday, September 10th at 7:30pm for a performance and discussion with Sofía Viola, an artist based in Argentina whose Cedar debut was cancelled due to the pandemic. This program takes us directly into Sofía’s home in Buenos Aires for an intimate set of playful, spirited, and poignant songs that highlights the strength of her voice and the brilliance and honesty of her songwriting. Her musical set will be mixed with commentary on her own musical journey, music's connection to the healing plants and ancestors, and the role of spirituality in the modern world, based on interview questions prepared by Vladimir Garrido from local Andean musical group, Alma Andina.

As many of you know, The Cedar typically kicks off each season in September with our annual three-day Global Roots Festival. In Spanish it would be something like the strap is from a short dimension... but at the same time... that "the strap" can "cut" the spirit of the enslaved and transform him into a zombie being... depressed... apathetic... without dreams... without illusions. ..

Ella se hace amar... porque es tal cuál como es... "La correa corta"... me está pasando a mí (desde hace años ya)... En español sería algo así como que la correa es de una dimensión corta... pero a su vez... que "la correa" puede "cortar" el espíritu del esclavizado y transformarlo en un ser zombie... deprimido... apático... sin sueños... sin ilusiones...
