But no; I guess we need to still complain about Mima not being in the very next game because it's not like there are better characters than her in the Pc-98 games (sarcasm).

The game is not developed or published by Team Shanghai Alice, but is indeed licensed by TSA. As a gacha game, Touhou characters are periodically introduced. In last couple of day, community was thrilled to find traces of Mima character inside game files, although no official confirmation at the moment. Woohoo, does this mean the initial objective of this comment has been reached, and MIMA has returned?? Well, let's discuss it a bit. This comment of mine is to keep track of official Touhou titles and forecast the Touhou game with next major revision to be "Return of Mima". On side, the comment also explore any possible indication of Mima's return on official Touhou literary works (including manga and novel alike). For a work to be qualified, ZUN must personally involved in the creative direction of the work, and the work included in Touhou canon lore. This is where I draw the line. The objective is sole and simple - to witness, in Touhou canon lore, Return of Mima. So back to topic, I'm not aware of any possible Touhou LostWord establishment in canon lore, nor did ZUN is involved in creative direction as far as I know. SURELY this title will also bring someone from PC-98? And who else but dear Mima deserves to be brought over? As pointed out by @superplushtiman 7ti07, the roster has an astonishing number of 19 playable character to choose from! 5 were revealed, 12 more remains undetermined... Statistically speaking, by now Touhou series have ~200 characters (personal estimation, feel free to correct). If we assume everyone has a chance to appear in the roster, going off from there, we can estimate there is a ~0.06% chance one of the 12 characters to be Mima... The odds are not optimistic. Time of absence: Mima:1998(2002 if you count DiPP) Half-Life 3:2007 We're waiting longer.

Reasons why people loved Mima and want her back in the series: 1. She was truly the definition of a great super villain 2. Has a badass boss theme (two in fact) 3. OP character that has the potential to be buffed to modern touhou game standards and become a very interesting and hard boss

1. Eh... I mean, she kinda gave up on killing Reimu after Touhou 2, but she just becomes a jerkass in her last appearance (Touhou 5), which doesn't make it a whole lot better. 2. Three if you count her theme in HRtP... but it's shared with YuugenMagan anyways. Imo, I don't like Reincarnation that much, and Rika technically also has two boss themes, so it's not really something exclusive to Mima. 3. OP? Power levels in Touhou are pretty vague, but we know little about the Pc-98 characters to even consider how strong they are (with the exception of Shinki, who did create Makai, so I'd argue she's even more powerful). She did teach Marisa magic, though, so I guess she's somewhat strong (but once again, we don't really know). If she was in modern Touhou, I guess she could have an interesting boss, but imo I'm not too excited for her return (for various reasons). Let's just hope her character isn't as bad as she was in her last appearance, though (looking at you, Mima's dialogue in Mystic Square).

I don't think she'll be making an appearance soon... I read in the wiki (supposedly) that Zun doesn't have the rights to PC-98 characters anymore (excluding Marisa, Reimu & Alice to whom he successfully secured the rights to). I hope that this isn't true, as I wish to see PC-98 era characters in newer entries.

I've listened to the song again, and it's BPM is ridiculously fast at a range from 200-215BPM. This means this is one of the fastest songs ZUN made, ever.

Mima is the ultimate PC-98 character, Yuuka and Skinki may also be famous. But no one can top Mima.

ZUN obviously can't put Mima in touhou anymore because her sprite is obviously too complicated to re-create. I mean just look at that staff, it'd take an artist to sprite that, and her spellcards? forget about it. Yuka was lucky she was able to have even one spellcard in PoFV.

just put her in a sidegame or something. let alphes handle that shit. characters with complex designs like kokoro are only in sidegames and the sidegame designs for everyone else (see: miko, mamizou, ichirin) are more detailed. clearly zun is training them for the inevitable mima.

A few nice deeds does not make a person completely good. I mean this could've been a smug taunt of "giving Reimu a chance" and dragging out the fight's length so it'd be quite fun to her. That's not confirmed though, that's just my speculation.

This song combined with the art in the video makes for a rather somber impression mixed with sadness for someone in the story of the game's setting, As towards the likeness of a witch in this instance having to confront her Mentor for some perceived evil.

In her profiles, she is described as being a "deity-like existence" of the shrine. Though in her Mystic Square good ending, she acknowledges that she is a ghost when alone. Being in spirit form, Mima's magic is most powerful during the night. She claims to want revenge against the entire human race, but it's not known what her motivations for that are. By the present day, most of the evil in her evil spirit has faded off. Apparently, she is quite knowledgeable about the past of the Hakurei Shrine, even down to knowing exactly what the function of the Yin-Yang Orbs' true power is. Presumably, there is a reason and a story for this, but she's so old that she's forgotten what it was. (from TouhouWiki) ZUN's comment about the track: "Mima's theme. There are a few points that I think are promised to last boss themes. Needless to say, it can't be too light, it can't be too simple, and it has to be mysterious, among other things. Of course, that's my opinion, so others may not agree."

Let’s be real. Everyone here has that glimmer of hope, when a new Touhou game is announced, that Mima will return SOMEHOW.

I wasn't expecting those little pitch bends it's a little detail but it's so nice i wish i could figure out how to emulate these games on the switch

Mima, Yuuka, and Alice are all ZUN's original characters. Both Alice and Yuuka came back in Windows games, but there's nothing stopping ZUN from doing the same for Mima. Who knows, maybe there will be a future Touhou game that brings Mima back.

I think the only reason ZUN ditched the 98 characters was so he could kick some newer ones into the spotlight and not just have Mima there every single time. Because if he hadn't, she'd be the staple player 3 in ALL the games, or a boss, or whatever.

Mima is actually in Touhou 15 . But to unlock her stage you have to beat the game in Point Device mode 100 times with Marisa without dying or bombing . If you don't shoot at all , you unlock her as a playable character !

There are some incredible Touhou arrangements out there, some that perhaps even surpass their originals, but I've never found a single one that quite reach the same level of the original choruses for Complete Darkness or the first Eternal Shrine Maiden. How ZUN crafted such masterpieces with such limited tools is truly one of a kind.

There are only three truly evil characters in Touhou: Mima, Yukari, and Marisa.
