Sodom gelten neben Kreator als die Urväter der deutschen Thrash-Metal-Szene. 1981 gründete sich die Band um Frontmann Thomas "Tom Angelripper" Such in Gelsenkirchen.
Während in den ersten Jahren eher das Zusammensein und der Spaß als die Musik im Mittelpunkt standen, entwickelten sich Sodom schnell zu einer international anerkannten Metal-Band. Sodom war die erste Thrash-Metal-Band überhaupt, der der Sprung in die Charts gelang. Sowohl ihr musikalischer Stil als auch die Form ihres Auftretens brachten Sodom gleichzeitig den Ruf ein, die mit Abstand aggressivste Band ihrer Zunft zu sein.
Nach einigen Vorstößen in punkigere Gefilde Anfang der Neunziger, kehrten Sodom zurück zu ihrem ursprünglichen Sound, der im Laufe der folgenden Alben noch eine Spur aggressiver wurde. Die Musik vieler aktueller Death- , Black- und Thrash-Metal-Bands ist nach wie vor stark vom extremen Spielstil Sodoms beeinflusst. Sodom selbst betrachten die englischen Metal-Pioniere Venom als ihren größten Einfluss, sowohl musikalisch als auch optisch.

My favourite SODOM album. It always hurt me that this album was kinda forgotten...not many fans were talking about it, All you could hear on SODOM sets was Wachturm and One Step...I am so happy that this album is getting it's recognition now. And Andy was a beast on that album - those guitar parts, and he was only 20 years old!!! long live "Tapping the Vein"!

Hammer! Mit body parts am anfang hätt ich nicht gerechnet einer meiner lieblings tracks
So geil .. „Tapping the Vein“ & „Get what you deserve“ meine beiden absoluten Faves von Sodom, da thrashig, roh, brutal & ehrlich. Leider nach dem Ausscheiden von Andy Brings nie mehr so richtig „gecatched“ worden.

Sodom macht Spass. Seit ich 1988 das erst mal Bombemhagel gehört habe (im Romford YMCA, London!) hör ich da immer wieder gerne rein. Ich finde, Angelripper hat schon was von Lemmy. Wär mal geil, wenn Sodom einfavh mal ein Motörhead-Set live spielen würden

That was fucking cool man... heavy metal rulz!
War bestimmt cool für die Leute vor Ort, auf dem Kopfhörer ist die Gitarre leider ziemlich neben der Spur. Man hört bei den Leads, dass er eigentlich spielen kann, aber klingt als hätte er ewig keine Metal-Rhythmusgitarre gespielt.

Du hörst an seinem unterirdischen, schmutzigen, ungenauen 1-Saiten-Schrubbel-Geklimper, dass er Gitarre spielen kann. So so.
Ich bin sehr beeindruckt. Besonders, das Tom das Gerippe von Andi Brings ausgraben konnte um an eine populärere, punkige Zeit zu Beginn der 90iger zu erinnern, ist fantastisch. „Get what you Deserve aber bitte mit viel Sahne“ :)

Seltsam...ich habe diesen Gig schon mal (Album-bezogen positiv) kommentiert, die meisten anderen Reaktionen waren Performance-bezogen eher negativ. Nach ein paar Tagen wurde das Vid auf privat gestellt, ich konnte einem Kollegen nicht mehr antworten. Here we go again ;) bis jetzt sieht es ähnlich aus...
Um dos albuns mais brutais que o Sodom fez. As vezes mais parece um álbum de death/trash tamanha a brutalidade das músicas! Junto com Get what you deserve é o meu favorito dos anos 90. Hail the teutonic trash master 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

this is anniversary of the "Tapping the Vein" album which was recorded with guitarist Andy Brings (who plays here) in 1992, Frank Blackfire left Sodom for Kreator in 1989 and did not participate in this album

Slightly sloppy start to begin with and the tone needs to be heavier when playing stuff off TTV ... in my honest opinion. However that being said it’s one of the greatest thrash albums of all time and it was awesome to see Andy up there playing these bad ass songs... and enjoying it with a smile on his face. Awesome player. Tom killing it always and forever. Now please bring us a vinyl repress!! 💀💉

This band now only lives in the past, they only perform to celebrate anniversaries of old albums and invite completely forgotten musicians, so Tom doesn't have to share the fee with anyone.

Continuing the spirit of all these legendary albums and great musicians just feels so right - and is much better in my opinion than to leave all them behind and be in hatred or sth

The Guitar Sound is terrible. The guitar solos are not so clean 😢
Oh my god... this is horrible..... okay.... Witchhunter (RIP) was no god on drums.... That's for sure! But this guy here is a "little" bit overwhelmed with this actually easy stuff... Weird.... And Andy isn't a Thrash guitarist at all.... "Body parts" was very sloppy.... But on the nostalgic Side an very entertaining Thing 😎!
