i watched asmonds video, there were parts he liked and parts he didnt like, he gave it a fair judgement at least, and he said the shot on the moon was badass, i dont mind people giving fair opinion, but to hate an entire video and then foam at the mouth because of the logistics of a fountain is just something that i cant fathom

@@Andy_val you've got to remember for the music there's like 6 diffrent styles to the song here(storm of blood varient ,dragonsong war varient,,sharlyan varient,,shadowbringers varient, endwalker start and end bit.) So many that's its alright to not like some of them,especially if for the fanbase the love is that respect it plays to all prior expansions.something asmon wouldn't be aware of.

Aside from that it's a Final Fantasy game. Literally every FF game has magic. Even if there wasn't a logical real world explanation for the fountain, another reason could also just be "cause magic". WoW has a literal flowing city "because magic" among plenty of other things.

A dude literally walking on the moon with nothing to assist breathing. Kids shooting multi-blast of magic while jumping 20 feet in the air. Kid has lasers shooting from floating devices and magically healing ppl with green energy. Dude jumping off the back of a dragon and slammed down with insane magic power from 100's of feet in the air. But the fountain ⛲... that's unbelievable. That's too much.. I'm annoyed now. Where is the hose?

It's an aquaduct, the answer is as simple as there is a dip below the statue causing the water to gain the momentum needed to reach the top of the jug to pour out

These are worlds where magic exists within them so I wouldn't be too distraught about any architectural mechanics.

The Endwalker expansion is the end to the current storyline, so the music is a mix of all the previous expansion's themes. Each time a new melody kicks in, its because a different expansion is being mentioned on screen. Also, if you hate the statue at the port of Old Sharlyan, you'll be really pissed when you find out that water fountains are a thing in real life...

I, too, played the game, and it’s pretty good, it was the community that made me not want to play. But yeah, when I heard what happened with Soken, I was crying along with Yoshida.

There's literally a giant statue in Darnassus, one of the starting Warcraft cities since its first launched, that is a giant night elf priestess holding a bowl above her head and water continuously falling from the bowl. He's seriously annoyed by something in the trailer that is also in World of Warcraft...

Yeah, look at ff14's start. The dev's literally gave a public apology over how bad it was and then rebuilt said game into something that now rivals wow. Meanwhile, when Blizz puts out literal dogshit, they're convinced that it's the players problem and not theirs. God forbid a company admit that it sucks and redo it. American companies seemingly have zero pride in their work and the consumers reception of it. It's all about that bottom dollar.

@@SavantUncensored I think this is a thing with western companies, they all seem to be "souless" companies that will do anything to get the most money they can from their products, they don't care at all about their image as a company or brand. SE is also a big company and is listed in the stock market, but they do care a lot about their image and that is one of the big reasons FFXIV was remade, Yoshida told them that the state of 1.0 could damage the Final Fantasy franchise forever and the SE executives took the risk and allowed him and the team to remake the game while still updating the 1.0 version to a more playable game. Look at Amazon with the New World situation, they don't give a fuck about how the public sees their new franchise, they just want to milk the customer do maximize the profits no matter what. It feels like there is no hope in wester big companies anymore, if the company gets big enough to be listed in the stock market they will do anything to max the profit to make the stock price rise, even if it is in the expense of their games.

Yeah I played WoW for a good 12 yrs and finally called it quits with Shadowlands. The only thing worse than the game at this point are the people playing it. Moved over to FF14 and my god the raiding and dungeons are a million times better. Sure the PvP could use a lot of work, but PvP was always more of a time killer for me. Something fun to do when you're having a drinking night on discord with your mates. Most importantly, aside from a few bad apple servers that largely keep to themselves, the community is great.

WoW lost all of the high ground the moment the Pandaren were added, let alone the Vulpera. WoW players just have Stockholm syndrome from being molested by Blizzard for years. WoW is just as high fantasy as FFXIV is, with Dalaran being a floating city, or crystal spaceships and magic portals to other planets.. WoW elitists just have their brains fried.

Endwalker is the forth expansion pack. There are hundreds of hours and countless plot points you need to experience before anything in the trailer makes sense. The Endwalker trailer is really meant for those who have already spent time adventuring the world and story of FFXIV. It seems totally reasonable you wouldn't understand or appreciate what's going on. Would you start Game of Thrones in season 4? If you're willing to take the plunge the FFXIV story line is some of the best I've ever experienced.

I've played WoW since Vanilla, over 15 years now. I didn't really care for what I've seen of FF14 until I actually tried it. Shadowlands was the final straw for me and I finally gave up on Blizzard, a company that completely spits on its fans on a consistent basis. I picked up FF14 and after playing it for awhile now and learning the story, I must say the game is fantastic. Once you learn the story/characters you understand what's going on in these trailers a hell of alot more. I don't understand the constant hate for the races in FF14 either. WoW trolls sit there and scream about furries because they see a cat or bunny girl, but they play Taurens, Worgens, Pandas, Vulperas etc. Do you even realize how stupid you sound? Probably not since most of them are pretty ignorant and are just trolling out of boredom. I mean hell.. you play a COW who shapeshifts into ANIMALS and you call other people furries? Ok good talk. The WoW community is toxic trash. I'm glad I left it, and gave 14 a try. The community is crazy awesome. I've put hundreds of hours into it and got nothing but love from everyone I meet. Ya'll can have your shitty servers on retail with a company milking you for money, I'm good.

I remember one year at blizzcon during a lore panel, blizz answered several questions with 'it's magic'. And he has a hard time understanding water coming out of a statue? I CAN'T EVEN.

Wow, this guy...this WOW guy. You know people give Asmongold shit for his takes, but at least Asmongold's takes have like, articulated reasons behind them and boil down to, "I don't like certain aesthetics". He also thought a lot of parts were cool or badass, and never babyraged over a goddamn location set piece.

Honestly? I think the argument sucks after so long. Like You watch Superhero fights and they use the same writing and hype building techniques anime used, a genre which also used stuff like Blade Runner and LOTR to inspire their stuff. You can argue art style sure, because the west just refuses to accept different shit as much as the east does (ATLA is/is not anime arguments, everyone screaming bout CalArts memes, Anime same face af, Lolis everywhere) Eventually, people are just arguing preference as a veneer to their prejudice against something new and frightening. It's not just anime to some people, it's a culture that favors The Rule of Cool over superficial tells of substance in a high fantasy genre... and it's as absolutely devolved as it sounds.

I kind of dislike watching these big WoW streamers reacting to FF14 trailers. FF14 being a story-based MMO, they lack so much context and story behind these trailers because they haven't played the game, that I can definitely see how this could negatively skew their views of the trailers. I also don't get the hate for the Miqo'te race (humans with cat ears and tails) that I see coming from a lot of WoW players. I get not being into it, but I don't get being repulsed by it. It reminds me a lot of how some men feel like they have to "prove their manhood" at the slightest hint that something that may have done could potentially be seen as "gay". You're protesting way too much over something so unimportant. Same goes for anything "weeb" or whatever.

I kinda want to say there's an underlaying racism in these reaction but most people are not ready for this conversation. They're not just having different tastes, they're *looking down* on anything that has Japanese vibe to it as if being "anime"-ish is an insult, which is a problem. They're looking down on anyone who enjoys japanese products and act like it's repulsive. They bicker about supposed kinks and fetishes towards cat characters but never question their own playable races as if a sexy female orc or elf is morally more accepted than a Miqo'te and less questionnable (the number of people drooling over Sylvanas, Tyrande, Alexstrasza or Draka is not small and we could argue about which one is more about fetishizing). @@alanrendonmejia2603 The best part about female Miqo'te being super common is that it aligns perfectly with FFXIV lore. Well, aside than the fact that Miqo players severely outnumber Hyuran players, it's pretty on point. There are more females than males in a Miqo tribe.

Watching videos like this makes me hate some wow players cuz of how they think wow is the hottest shit out there, and then ppl who never played ff14 watches a trailer saying it's bad cuz they dont even know wuts happening.

I know there are a ton of WoW lore enthusiasts, and as someone who doesn't even play the game, I think it's neat... But like, the WoW fans have a LOT of nerve talking shit about someone playing their mmo of choice "for the story" when WoW seems to not really show new fans the story, or make it optional.

@@ZeroShot13 I’ve played all the WoW xpacs except for Shadowlands. For me personally, the only two stories that were interesting to me were The Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King. But that’s only for the stories themselves, the way they tell them is still pretty bad. That’s pretty much the game in a nutshell from a story perspective: very intriguing lore but awful execution when it comes to actually telling the stories.

I love how we can appreciate WoW trailers for their cinematic worth, but WoW players can't seem to handle fountains and cat ears 😅

If anyone goes out on a exploration hike with him don’t ever pull a compass out cause he’ll probably take it, throw it on the ground and call it witchcraft.

I think here's the problem though. Unless you know the significance of the music and have played the expansions up to this point, you will find it a fair bit jarring. But that's exactly the point, Endwalker is catering towards its current playerbase who have played the game up until this point.

@@BlitzAce987 but he’s not wrong when he says that the type of music they use in the trailer wouldn’t really appeal to anyone except fans of FF14 where yes, it makes sense because you want to appeal to your core audience, but the reason why WOW players don’t like the music choice IS because they don’t understand the significance of the lyrics nor the different music used from previous expansions. Hence why Asmongold hated the music in the Endwalker trailer. Ultimately it comes down to taste too. I feel like I would enjoy the music even if I wasn’t a fan of FFXIV.

I'm not even playing FFXIV nor WoW but I find WoW streamers react extremely childish towards the only real competition that WoW ever had. SE is clearly telling a story here but he seems to be unable to grasp that a trailer of an upcoming expansion might not provide context for everyone ... and then that fountain scene .... while there was a giant turning/floating crystal thing right after - is he serious here?! Of all the stuff that he saw is is "annoyed" by the only thing that could actually be explained with physics?! :-D This reaction is 110% cringe to watch.

Soda's chat literally consists of thousands of his clones and every time a new one was created they lost a good amount of braincells...

Is it me or i have not seen any single WoW player who had any positive remarks about the expansion trailer at all. Asmongold seemed neutral but his chat was spewing toxicity. almost as if half of the WoW playerbase hates FFXIV because its so "weeb" and also a competitor to their game.

The ones who're left on WoW have dug themselves deep. The ones who were open minded (me included) have already shipped sail from WoW, stopped playing WoW or play WoW as a secondary MMO. That said getting anykind of honest intelligence or meaning out of a big twitch streamer's chat is like trying to analyze what a parrot says. All they do is echo eachother, their streamer or what stereotypes they've heard, and likely if you isolated one you'd get a different opinion.

Asmongold actually had a few positive things to say about it, he just didn't like the aesthetic. He liked the part with Estinien, Old Sharleyan (before Graha TIa), and he enjoyed the WOL fighting on the moon at the end. His main problem was just that he didn't like the cutesy feeling too much.

Your right about the music, they switch themes for each character acording to the expansion they are related to, and it is done in order, so "A Realm Reborn" - "Heavenward" - "Stormblood" - "Shadowbringers", to a FF XIV player it is a sound clue to what is going on, to a new player it loses some meaning and becomes a puzzle. For people that have affinity with sound can be even unpleasant, I played FF for 8 years and even I got cringed with the way the sound was running, not until a second review I could really understand and appreciate what was going on. If you like wow theres certanlly something for you in FF XIV, give it a long shot theres a Free Unlimited Trial for base game + 1st expansion, it is the same has Blizzard allowing Vanilla WoW + TBC Free forever until you wanna sub and play WoTK and beyond.

It's hilarious how he and his chat hates on the game. Meanwhile on metacritic, WoW Shadowlands has a user score of 5.1 while Shadowbringers have 9.0 Not to mention previous expansions. Battle for Azeroth has a whopping 3.1 and Stormblood, which is considered the worst expansion, has 8.2.

WoW fans expect the whole story to be told by one non in game cinematic. They get spoon fed by one cinematic in the story. They can't handle following a story. They can't fathom not having played a game and just not being able to jump in on a cinematic. They need to stay in their shallow lane.

The FF14 devs listen to their fans and try their best to give them what they request. The last fan fest for Final Fantasy XIV was a testament to how much love and respect the fans have for the director and the dev team. Popular wow streamers and fans have been criticizing blizz for not listening to their player base. Instead blizz chooses to do what they want. They ignore their fan bases pleas to help their game succeed. A lot of WoW players show disdain for blizz/activision decisions in current expac and the new TBC release. I gave up on WoW a long time ago and have not looked back since switching over to FFXIV.

I have only watched 2 wow players, this and asmon, asmon may not like things but he still acknowledge the things he likes. Especially that liking anything is subjective. This guy tho feels like hating for no good reason. I mean out of all things, A fountain pisses him off.

How to tell people you've never played a FF game without playing an FF game...

You have to realise guys, these big wow streamers, where 90% of their content is reaction videos, most of their chat don't play wow either. I currently play 14, but I've played plenty of wow and most regular people you meet in both games are just mmo players in general and have played both games and generally like and dislike things about both games. The ones in chat going "gay", "weeb", "furry" etc don't play their own game because I'm gonna pre-apologize for this and act as if they would act to show how it doesn't make any sense: "Blood-elf, pretty gay", "Panderen, Furry Weeb", "Vulpera, Super Furry Weeb!". A wow players reply to this would be "Well, we don't like those things either". No, you mean you don't like them, I see plenty of those races running around in wow, there is a player base for them, it's the same in 14. I last played wow extensively in legion, but their story (of what there is). Is waaaaaaaay more anime than anything I've seen in 14. It's dragonball Z levels. The most anime thing in 14 I've seen is that power of friendship ending in ARR. But that was a long time ago and we all know ARR's story is a little weird. A thing I like to say to 14 players though is, stop it with the blind praise(stop deifying everything the dev team does, because it isn't all good), if we're not careful we're those wow "players" in 10 years. Final thought, their career as streamers outweighs their love (or hate in this case) for world of warcraft. They're stuck, they can't change focus, half of the time held hostage by their own chat. If you're over the age of 25, do you really think you're the type of person to be in a chat like that spamming KEKW? Probably not, and the majority of people aren't. So don't worry about it. Wow refugee is a term in 14 for a reason. Let nature takes it's course.

People watch this guy over asmon? Really? I have never touched WoW but asmon is generally a reasonable guy with respectable takes. He’s by no means unintelligent or intellectually dishonest, and while he has things about this trailer and FF in general he does not like, he still respects the game and it’s fanbase.
