social media wants to annihilate me. i won't let it.
My podcast is back!! (Ish.) Missed my voice? Wondered what's been on my mind ever since I contemplated being a failed influencer? In this episode, I delve into social media's algorithmic imperative towards complete personal annihilation through public consumption and how that has been hindering me creatively. I share one of my biggest regrets from social media and my plan for countering these negatives going forward, including why I'm doubling down on Substack.

I love your content so much. The "how I'm doing this" content is incredibly relatable to those of us struggling to make life happen after also leaving more traditional jobs. I remember once getting into a discussion with others about wanting to be creative but not having a stereotypical 'creative' job. They didn't really get what I was talking about, but I feel like there is more room for creativity outside of the arts now - and it is very much so work! Thank you for continuing to create community and share your process.
Sharing your creative ideas can definitely feel vulnerable. Also, anyone who doesn't consider creative work as work has clearly never done it before.

definitely--it's a lot of hidden labor, as with many artistic endeavors
You got this Cece. Thanks for your vulnerability.

This is only the 2nd video I watched from your channel. Thank you for being raw and authentic. Sometimes, I wonder how wonderful the whole world could become if everyone doesn't have to worry about basic necessities and could just pursue what they love.
Thanks for sharing. You're so off the charts successful by any measure that I realized that negative self-talk is a (universal) disease that is never cured by achievement. Just gotta love yourself and better early than late.
Just commenting to say I really enjoy watching how your mind works when you speak about things you are clearly so passionate about and determined to accomplish!

wow, thank you!
Always remember its more important to know who you are than to listen to some random crazy person's response that is trying to chop you down. Your videos come across very genuine and helpful in nature.
Hi Cece, I’m in the process of applying to law schools right now and I just want to let you know that your videos about big law/law school gave me pause but it eventually helped me think of better and more personalized reasons for why I want to pursue a career in law. thank you! Keep up the good work!

CeCe, love your content. social media sucks, it's an echo chamber. people don't know your growth . social media also has the ability to freeze time , so internet judgment hurts way more than irl interactions simply because there is no context and there is no information on the dynamics

Yeah. Despite the fact that if we were peers in school, we may have had different working styles, the Internet sees a persona of you suspended in time. In reality we are pretty much all messy humans who have had our own journey. Your content inspires me a lot as a recovering people-pleaser, burnout oriented Chinese American young professional. @@CeceXie

Creativity paired with a profit-driven model is like trying to juxtapose apples and oranges and making it sell. It's a juggle between PR and being your authentic self. Definitely you have a different personality and communication style than me at times, as a short-term fan hopefully long term fan I want you to understand that as a Chinese-American person, as a professional, this juxtaposition and juggle is resonated by a lot of people. You are not alone in feeling this way @@CeceXie

hello! :)
My nephew just interviewed you at Yale. He said very nice things about you, 😉
ur very informative . luv it. i will visit your substack.
If you're an artist create art. Lawyer practice law. You seem to explain yourself often. It's not so complicated, unless it's viral view counts you really want. Take care

@CeceXie all I meant is you can do both. I was taught u can write the deepest things and stick it in a drawer and thats art. Doesn't have to be a big social or paid thing. Sorry edited. Take care cece the lawyer writer
