Anyone who lives life their way & doesn't care about anything else is an inspiration. Living free to me is doing what you want. He was damn lucky to do want he wants to do, rock on with music, instead of just the 9 to 5 ball & chain.

Saw Social Distortion at the Cains. Rocked the rafters of the historical joint like no other. Old school real deal rock STAR. If a person ever gets a chance to see live you owe it to yourself to see an American original iconic band.

He’s amazing. Though it didn’t stick, his words were part of what encouraged me to go to treatment before my life got any more out of control. I’m glad that I’m still alive to be able to listen to his voice.

The boxing, the tractor, the music. I totally respect it. I relate to all of it

First song I heard from this band was "I was wrong" I was hooked immediately! Around the same time as "born to be down"! Two of my favorite songs! 😎🙋

Hmmm...yea I'd like to see how you'd react if someone showed up at your home or work and started yelling profanities at you and flipping you off. Mike ness is something special for our generation. A reminder of how to experience life...a true giant of our time. Irreplaceable and a dying breed. Hope to see him at least one more time

This is the kind of man I aspire to be. I hope that my musical career makes it somewhere, social distortion being one of my influences, but Mike just seems so tell it as it is and down to earth. The rock n roll ego never seemed to hit him. I hope that no matter how high or low my life gets, I never lose sight of the best parts of the world, not just Hollywood parties

get well Mike you are an inspiration for many, i remember listening SD in many shit moments being young and felt like a old friend or figure talking to me, hope the best for you and your family, you are a survivor and a warrior ✊

So many negative comments. This is such a genuine human being that influenced so many people in different ways. We all got our own story to tell, but I think the beauty is everyone can relate to Ness in one way or another. Proud and honored to have someone such as Mike Ness have roots that are in MA.

Mike Ness is the reason why I fell in love with punk rock, country music, classic and late 90's-2000's diesel trucks, hard work, bull riding, and the little things out there.

Got to meet mike ness at sessions in Scott’s valley he was super nice I worked in the warehouse there I asked him to sign a piece of a box I cut off out of in the warehouse I asked him to sign it for my friend Brian in Santa Cruz he was so cool about it this video was rad

I'm picturing the charming strangeness that would be the Mike Ness we see in this video standing next to the scrawny young teenage Mike Ness we saw in the documentary 'Another State of Mind' sitting on his front steps playing an old acoustic guitar, awkwardly revealing his daily routine of watching bad TV-- and then shown later applying eyeliner whilst scrutinising himself in the mirror. Can you imagine the Mike Ness in this video, this big boxer, this serious looking masculine figure with such a calm demeanour interacting with THAT goofy kid? Imagine what young Mike would make of older Mike-- never mind how they'd react to each other. What a trip it would be. Just imagining what that footage would look like amuses me greatly.

Didnt know he had property up north. I moved to the northern sticks and have an old tractor. Sold my 53 Chevy and started fresh. Still recording music and listening to old punk. The self sufficient greaser. 🇺🇸🐓🐖
