    Adam Smasher is a very important person in the Cyberpunk universe. He's been around since the 80's and 90's when Mike Pondsmith first created the first Cyberpunk Tabletop RPG or TRPG. The story of Edgerunners and the video game Cyberpunk 2077 take place in this universe. Adam Smasher plays in an important role in the narrative of Cyberpunk and is definitely one of the Legends of the Cyberpunk universe. He is indeed built different and there aren't many people that even come close to what he is capable of. A few Night City legends have gone toe to toe with him and a few have survived. Even tho the 2077 game has its own story and narrative within the Cyberpunk universe, Adam Smasher still is a part of it and the player encounters him several times. I can personally recommend playing Cyberpunk 2077 at least once to experience more of what this amazing story has to offer if you have a Play Station 5 or a decently powerful PC. Tho since the final patch and DLC is coming out within less than a month, it might be better to wait until they release. Thank you for this series.

  • @ShinigamiKenReacts
    @ShinigamiKenReacts11 ай бұрын

    In my opinion, the saddest thing about the ending (sadder than all the deaths) is the fact that Lucy is alone and probably feels guilty as hell. She was trying so hard to save David that she ironically ended up being the the biggest factor in arasaka being able to lure him out. She distanced herself, got captured, got David wrapped up in a whole mess without ever being able to talk to him and clear her name. Imagine having to live with that guilt. I really felt for her in that ending scene on the moon, where she realizes that David is no longer there. You can tell she blames herself for everything. In the end, David failed to realize that her dream wasn't the moon anymore, it was a life of peace with him. Be it on the moon, or wherever. She just wanted him to be there. Imagine how she felt when falco said "if I turn around now David will have died for nothing" and when falco told her David apologized for not being able to go to the moon with her. Her entire being probably broke in that moment and the guilt probably started to kick in as she was fully taking in what was being said to her. I feel like if she communicated with David, and talked to him sooner, she could've gotten him off the cyberware that ultimately ended up giving him cyberpsychosis and they could've laid low, got enough money and potentially left. Truly one of the most tragic stories.

  • @CypressDahlia

    Yeah it's something she's not gonna recover from for a while. But I guess we can take solace in the fact that this all happened within a year. The pain 😭 I remember getting a headache from crying a lot during the ending. If it makes you feel any better, David died a legend and is now immortalized in the Afterlife bar in the game with his own drink, and you only get your own drink there if you're a Night City legend. Lucy migrated to the Moon and while living conditions there are aren't perfect, she has more chance of having a better life there than in Night City, especially if she gets into a good colony.

It's in the official Cyberpunk 2077 Channel, and the title of the video is: Cyberpunk: Edgerunners - Ending Theme | Let You Down by Dawid Podsiadło | Netflix As a trivia fact, the whole direction and animation on this MV was done by the same artist who made the new design/art of Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell: SAC 2045 ; Ilya Kuvshinov.

Everyone who played the game before the show knows he was about to die in the end. The signs were all there since episode one. I felt really sorry for Lucy. For first time in her life she opens up to anyone, for the first time she doesn't feel alone and all of a sudden all of that is lost. She loses not only the person closest to her, but all of her friends as well. David died for his friends, supported by them till the very last moment. Lucy at the end had no one. Arguably she had the worst fate of them all.

    Scariest thing is that, even as lethal and psychotic as Adam Smasher is, he still wouldn't have survived Night City if he didn't have the vast, far reaching arm of the Arasaka Corporation to retreat under after every mission. It would take the lives of hundreds, but even Smasher can't survive Night City by himself.

    well the fact is that Smasher isn't like David, David just thought of being "special" when in reality he was not, Smasher instead is really special

  • @Ssecave

    Actually David IS special. His tolerance with implants/chrome is almost as good as Smasher. The difference is that Smasher is a psycho to begin with. David isn't, He's actually on the opposite part of the spectrum.

  • @TresTrefusis

    @TresTrefusis

    David was special in the beginning but he lost what made him special. His humanity. His mother loved and cared for him, sacrificed for him. When he did go edgerunner he didn't kill, not until the cyberpsycho and even then he killed goons defending his friends but bit by bit he started to lose his compassion and heart. That's what causes cyberpsychosis. The amount of chrome someone has and the disassociation that can result is a factor and can exacerbate it, but what cyberpsychosis really is is the loss of your humanity, your compassion, your empathy. Once you start killing it's a slippery slope and in Night City killing is all too common. Adam is special because he's a psychopath. He had zero empathy, zero compassion to begin with, so there is nothing to lose, nothing to slip away from.

    The reason why Kiwi betrayed the gang was because she was getting old, wanted as much of money as she could get from this last job and then just quit. Because in a place like Night City, you don't tend to live long, especially while doing jobs like she did. But I think the major reason why she did what she did was because she saw the same symptoms of cyberpsycosis happening on David, as Maine had, and she didn't want the same thing happen with David or even worse - get killed. Unfortunately things didn't go as she planned...

    We also can't forget that when she was hired to catch the netrunner for Arasaka, Kiwi nor Faraday had any idea that the person was Lucy. And by the time Lucy stepped in the trap Kiwi had set up, well, too late to back out now. Lucy would still be caught, she'd get no money, and she'd have Faraday and Arasaka after her ass.

    If you play games, I suggest that you should play CD Projekt Red's "CyberPunk 2077" video game that takes place 1 year after David Martinez Story. I fully recommend that you play this if you want to start your story in the CyberPunk Universe. Basically CyberPunk Edgerunners is a spin off prequal to the game CyberPunk 2077.

    There's this side character you can stumble across in the game this show is based on; he's a BD director chilling at a bar and he's talking to his groupies about how mainstream BDs can cause the viewer to experience very simple, clean emotions like sadness or joy, but that the industry's editing habits of making the experience super clean and clear like that doesn't allow viewers to experience the Real, Messy emotions you get in real life, like for example combined sadness and joy, or bittersweetness. I'm absolutely convinced that conversation you can overhear in the game is a metatextual comment on the writing in this anime. Except for the pure tragedy of the first couple episodes, every single emotion the show throws at you is messy. And how goddamn bittersweet is that ending, with Lucy on the moon remembering David's joy when she first showed him her dream?

    The real game comparison is looking at this as a bunch of PCs having a GM drop Adam on everyone because they started poking where they shouldn't. These circumstances play out often in the tabletop where Adam will fuck up about half or more of the party and the game is now to retreat.

     @farohreacts Hi there. Just discovered you today after checking to see if there were any new videos of people reacting to a new easter egg they added with the version 2.0 that came out yesterday. The DLC is still a week out but definitely worth starting it now as the major changes to gameplay that you mentioned are added in now and the DLC takes place midway through the game. So no need to wait to get started as of now. They had already put some great connections between the show and the game back when it came out, andthe newest addition hits like a truck but is sooo touching. Loved your reactions to the series and think you'll enjoy the game a lot.

    Also highly recommend checking out the official music videos of "Let You Down" and "I Really Want To Stay At Your House" for more cathartic emotional roller coasters. The first is actually a mini-prequel to Edgerunners, but both are very beautiful. Honestly both of them are probably worth doing a reaction video to add the the playlist if you wanted.
