23 too... Used to watch a lot of soaps with my late aunt back then (after school for me)... Can only remember pieces of the show, didn't yet understand English... Just remember where the dude pulled off his face to reveal another face... Where the girl who looked like an angel destroyed some creepy thing after appearing from the closet, and that the couple was trapped in a hole... 😂... It introduced me to the supernatural...

My grandma watched a bunch of soap operas and I remember hearing all the different theme songs blasting from her room, she always kept the volume near 100. I really enjoyed one, but I never remembered the name of it, I could only recall how theme song went. My Grandma would even would call me into her room so I could listen to it, when it came on. Alas, after all these years I still never managed to get the name of that show. My grandma has since passed too so I'm stuck humming this mysterious song, that nobody in my family knows the name of. I even used the damn Google song finder and still nothing. Hope was running thin...until now you beautiful son of a gun! As it turned out, it was the intro to All My Children which I found out only thanks to this video! God bless your soul!

There are many cool Soap Opera themes ....my musical faves are Passions #1 Port Charles #2 Dark Shadows #3 I loved the supernatural themed soaps ! ❤❤❤ Port Charles was awesome but I think it's mid-day time slot kept people from even knowing about it . Caleb & Livvie were an awesome soap couple ! The Passions theme was the best & sexy sounding ! Dark Shadows was the first classic supernatural soap which. Influenced so many spooky TV shows ! I miss them all .... they were fun & showed alot of imagination . All had great actors ! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I think Days of our the Lives is the most iconic. I mean, considering it has been basically unchanged for the show's entire history says a lot.

Days of our lives and the young and the restless were my ultimate favourite! I was so sad about the cancellation of as the world turns , my dad felt so bad for me he took me on vacation ♥️

Well sometimes it's not because of that. If the ratings go down and they make no money off it, there's no point in continuing. Or sometimes they have no idea where to go with the story anymore.

Was NOT expecting dark shadows first, that's the only soap opera I've voluntarily watched

Could have included Santa Barbara and full opening of The Bold and The Beautiful

Days of our Lives is what got me into soap operas. Well, not necessarily, but I like the soap opera writing/style. I only recognize some titles, but Days of our Lives and General Hospital are the soap operas I watch frequently. Port Charles is great and has a nice tune in the intro to listen to.

SoapNet used to exist but I guess it lost it's contract with DirecTV

It makes me so sad that so many of my old time classic soap operas are gone in favor of too many talk shows and cheap and tacky reality television shows! :-(

Another World for me

I miss the old days of the soaps when each network had at least 3 of them on the air in the same daytime block it felt so complete. People either loved their CBS, ABC or NBC soaps and each network felt different with their soaps. They need to bring a couple of these back.

@@hhhh-xb9py Yeah sometimes I would focus on soaps at different times but at some points, I'd manage to watch every single soap that was on the air by just channel changing to the most interesting one but I always had my top favorites. I started out watching the ABC soaps then I watched CBS and NBC. Now in days, I watch all 4 but I have to watch DAYS in binge mode because it airs at the same time as Y&R and B&B in my area. GH airs alone by itself later in the afternoon. I miss not having the morning soaps.

I worked in the Dark Shadows mansion...Carey Mansion @ Salve Regina University in Newport, RI...I was exploring the attic and found a paper from the 1920’s...

Days and yr are universally known much more so than passions. I know many people who don't watch soaps who would recognize yr, dool, and yes, even aw...but not Passions. Sorry. But, not the AW version played in this presentation.

Sunset beach huge in canada and britian...shame never caught in in states.funny how countrys tastes are diffrent in canada another world was 1!! I loved Another World

This was so nostalgic

In the 1960s, 70s and into the 80s the daytime soap operas were the primary generator of income for the Networks that paid for the Prime time programs. The daytime television was huge. However, America, women's roles of careers and family, marriages changed along with the Sexual Revolution. Given that all of the social taboos that characterized the storylines of serials are no longer stigmas I really do not see a return of this genre on a scale of 50 years ago. I will be surprised if soap operas make it through the decade given the change of traditional viewing.

So sad but so true. Save our soaps!

Thanks for posting my all time favorite was OLTL since it started on 1968-2012 and it’s short run in 2013 on the internet I muss my people really bad so I have settle with GH.

OH I remember the young and the restless soo well! One of those shows that I heard every morning in the summer while being babysat by my grandma. Cuz she didn’t have cable... Even in my young age I thought “wow...this is so 90s”

Sharon Griffin the show I grew up with till 12 when it got cancelled Passions was replaced with a 4th hour of Today like 3 isn’t enough. Then started watching OLTL and it got replaced with something called The Revolution and got cancelled after only 6 months. OLTL has the highest rating of all ABC Soaps at the time of its cancellation and higher then Days I believe. Brian Fronz Just hated soaps as a whole except for GH.

@@stefansnellgrove gh was planned to be cancelled but ABC decided agaisnt it after seeing their mistake with cancelling oltl. The Revolution was so terrible they decided to cancel it and put gh in oltl's old time slot and the Katie Couric show which was supposed to replace gh got gh's time slot. They were worried about losing millions on dollars just like they had when they took oltl off the air. They don't like gh they did it to save their asses.

I miss all of the old legendary soaps thank God 4 are still running.

Funny how the four pictured are the ones I’ve watched growing up. Born watching Days, watched Passions from its premiere when I just turned 4 till it ended on NBC, then 6th to 10th grade watched OLTL till it got cancelled in January 2012, and started watching GH in September 2011. I’m very far behind I am in February on Days and September 2018 on GH. Trying to catch up on Days now

Robin Neher Stefano has been dead for a while now, the actor died a few years ago, so he’s definitely not coming back. Roman and Victor are barely on the show, they make cameos every few weeks.

I know this is going to sound lame but when I was a kid, my family moved a lot due to my father being in the Navy. My relatives lived far away. So when my mom (who wasn't the most demonstrative with her love) would watch her 'stories' I would pretend that I was a part of the families on As the World Turns. Especially when the whole family would come together for a celebration during the 4th or Thanksgiving. I would watch all of them eat and laugh and love each other and I would pretend in my mind that I was right there with them. Kinda sad....

It’s Hard to believe that once in the 20 th century every major network had 4 or 5 daytime dramas on daily Monday to Friday . Then by the early 2000s They were cancelled one by one each year and now in 2024 there are only 3 left . NBC has none on air . Days of Our Lives is only streaming online on Peacock . CBS has its king The Young and Restless. As well as its 1987 30 minute spinoff The Bold and Beautiful. ABC has its longest running drama General Hospital since 1963. Only 3 left and it’s 2024 . My the garbage that has taken the place of the once mighty daytime dramas .

The final few openings for "Guiding Light" were atrocious. Their last good theme was the short-lived 2002-2003 update, after the iconic 1991-2002 opening, 'Hold On To Love.'

The Y&R theme was originally Cotton's Theme from the movie Bless The Beasts And Children (adaptation of novel of same title) Then Young And Restless theme. Then Nadia's Theme for the gymnastics perfect scores winner at the Olympics.
