    the top will look like soda ash if u leave it uncovered, i put a towel over my loafs to set up b4 unloafing. the crack in top is merely the soap went thru gel phase and got a bit too hot to the point it almost volcano'd. that soap didnt look like heavy to me.

    Yes that works great to prevent soda ash, I don't mind a bit of soda ash at all.I'm so use to my formula and how it should turn out even though things vary sometimes! Correct! Cracks are normal as i stated but let me tell you this batch was ABSOLUTELY lye heavy...Im glad it was a flop its so much better now..thanks so much for your insight
