I feel you there with the intuition, Frankie. :/ I’m autistic and I feel like throughout my whole life, my intuition has been squished down by other people telling me that I’m wrong, or overthinking something, or… you know. It’s been my biggest and most constant struggle in my practice; to recognize it, and especially to not talk myself away from it. Thank you for this video ❤

Yes I relate to this so much, especially when it comes to my intuition about people I always second guess it because I assume that I read a social cue wrong or didn't understand something (I'm autistic too). History has taught me that my intuition about people is really spot on and I've been trying to accept it quicker - its a process for sure

There are sooo many autistic witches, and I wish I saw more discussion on how it (society's response to autistism, or the way we were raised) has affected our intuition, and so our practice. So thank you for your comment.

I feel this so much 🩷 I’m only now (in my late 20s) starting to trust my emotions and intuition again. It’s such a struggle because I used to rely on them so much but was forced to ignore them and default to others. It’s freeing to connect with this part of myself again.

My personal "thing" is I always push, really hard, when people ask my advice that having a Sacred Space and a journal is where you should start. Because you are the magic and you sacred space is your charging station. You can have many, but to start you need just one. And the rule is, you have to be nice to yourself there. Use the journal to jot down what you're interested in learning about, thoughts as you go, dreams, divination readings, etc etc. Just to start.

OMG, Frankie, you articulated everything I feel is missing from most occult/pagan/witchcraft communities, while saying exactly how to change that. I have been on various related paths for a quarter of a century now, my path changed at least 6 times since I first started at 20 years old (I did grow up practicing French Canadian Folk Catholicism, so, really 7 times or more?). A lot of groups require you to follow things to the letter, my former coven even did not even allow questioning the book of shadows, so much for critical thinking, huh? It's not just Tik Tok witches that pull info out of their asses, without really giving it a second thought, I have been seeing people do this since at least the late 1990s, at least, I'm realizing this by looking back on it. Thank you for this video, I actually took notes! 😅🥰

Although I don’t really consider myself a beginner (within my own version of practice, others may feel differently~) I was curious to hear your views on this subject and how they might’ve changed. I’m glad I did! I really like how you formatted this so far and how it takes into account other people will have different beliefs! When I got into witchcraft and spell work I was confronted with a lot of people saying that beginners should absolutely not work with spirits, should have nothing to do with them, etc. Yet I had been very spiritual and had worked with/worshipped spirits for years already as for me it was closer to a religious practice than a witchy subject, and to an extent because of my family and their experiences I had grown up with it. I had communed with spirits, read messages and signs, had out of body experiences and was decent at lucid dreaming, etc etc for years previous to witchcraft. Yet when I learned more about it from the community it was difficult not to be swayed by other peoples opinions, and my spirit work took a back burner as I felt pressure to fit into the same journey as other people had experienced, for a while, which I greatly regret. Thankfully I connected more with myself coming into adulthood and though I’m still trying to regain some of my personal skills and beliefs, I’m starting to get back into the right flow. Technically I no longer even call myself a witch. For me it’s a practice, so I am a practitioner🤷🏼😊

I think before starting any new thing, that one should ask themselves why they want to start this new thing. I always say "Ooh, I would like to try that someday" or "I want to do this" rather nonchalantly and never actually put effort into researching it or doing it. So if you ask yourself why, and it's more of a fleeting reason then I would not start it. This question is rather worded badly, but "Does this add value to your life?" "Does it drain you, energize you, or neither?" Edit: Meanwhile I put rosemary in everything because it's very supportive of female energy. So it's purpose for me is when I smell it, "Oh, I made this for me." If you ever read the book, Howl's Moving Castle, Sophie's sister learned from a witch that used honey in all her spells. I know another lady that makes products for empaths, and more often than not there is yarrow in her oils/sprays.

I love the style of this and talking about skill based needs. I never see these things being talked about on large scale. On cross referencing, especially if from a place like tiktok - I suggest using a different type of source like a book, paper, herbalist, etc to verify. Too often I see people latch onto something they see on social media and just start repeating it everywhere, creating a lot of people saying something on social media that may be dangerous/ not right. I'm not one to say how one should practice, but I also don't think it's a free for all some are making it. I think there are rules in nature and those rules also apply to our practice (ie how energy works - how water works, and so forth). Of course that is my opinion. Great video and information!

I started learning witchcraft over 25 years ago and it was so difficult to get any information about it that was real. I live in Derbyshire in England and there was only a handful of good books, but they were so heavy going and when you cross-referenced them as you mentioned nothing matched up! So for years I was a non-practicing Wiccan due to not being able to get any resources or any of the tools or ingredients that the books told me I had to have !!! Now with the Internet we have this information at the touch of a button and we can order the tools or Magickal ingredients from all around the world. So now I am finally able to practice my craft and thanks to you Frankie I am starting to learn folk witchcraft from all different countries before I settle down and learn my own. I have even come out of the broom closet and told everyone about what I practice, and it feels so good to tell people about the real me. I even have my own KZread channel opening Magickal subscription boxes and I'm just starting a shorts series to help new or beginner Witches with hints or tips that I wish I had known when I was starting out. as I want to give back to the Witchcraft community that I love so much. Thank You Frankie for your amazing channel, podcast and your book is absolutely perfect and I eagerly await the next one !!! Blessings from Helen in Derbyshire in England 🌛🌕🌜

I listened to your tips very seriously. There's another way where some strange spell power can come to a person without the person even wanting it. It can be because of years of trauma and suffering where it's almost like compensation that the universe gives him or her for giving a raw deal when it was no fault of theirs. It's very, very scary and its misuse can be traumatic. One has to be restrained in the anger and rage we give out. Because once the wolf is let out there's no point in regretting why one has unlocked the chain. Anger can wait for a month because it has a growling wolf with it, ready to chase. And by then the anger is most likely gone. I prefer peace to restless rage. And the wolf is happy too when I ruffle it and say, "Good doggie wolf! Growl, growl !!".

Hey Frankie! IYou mentioned studying ancient Roman sources, specifically Pliny, and I wanted to pop in and give a bit of guidance on the pronunciation. I'm working on a degree in Classics and Latin is my primary focus (language wise). Obvisouly, there are many different ways to pronounce Latin (and they will vary on which country you travel too) but in the U.S, we typically go with it being pronounced like pl-in-y. This is because his full Latin name was Gaius Plinius Secundus, and it's thought that it would be pronounced plee-ni-us. Hope this helps!

I loved and agree with every point you made! 🙌 I definitely made the mistake in the beginning of my practice to not question some of the information I found enough and now I'm always cross-referencing like crazy and try to find as many different sources on one and the same topic as possible to compare them and find the best and truest answers as well as trying to find their origins. I also had to learn and accept over the years that it's okay if your path and practice change. I also started out with Wicca and in the beginning I thought: This is it! I found my thing! ...only to learn a few years later that Wicca is in fact not the right path in witchcraft (and religion) for me. When I realized this and wanted to change my practice I felt really bad about it and had a bad conscience. It took me a while to learn that it's okay and since then my practice completely changed. I'm still experimenting, even though I've been practicing for quite a few years now and I still don't use a label, because I haven't found one that fits, except perhaps Eclectic Witch. But maybe I also don't need to find a label, because my practice is valid without one. Also the point about making mistakes was just... 💯! I definitely made some mistakes when I was completely new to the craft and just started out. I didn't do enough research and used some herbs and plants that were recommended everywhere I looked, but that are part of a closed practice and I only learned later, after I already bought and used them, that I was culturally appropriating. I then used up what I had left of it, in order to not throw it away and waste it, did better and more extensive research, never bought these things again and found amazing substitutes that are also native to the part of the world where I live and that are okay for anyone to use. You never stop learning. 🙏 Thank you for talking about these things and for sharing these tips, I especially liked the questions in the Critical Thinking category! They are really helpful! Hope you have an amazing day! ✨ (Also sidenote: Like somebody else already mentioned, the audio is sooo much easier on the ears now that you use the little mic, that's really great! 😊)

This was great, especially not putting yourself in a box. I'm currently exploring Celtic and Norse paganism since those are from my ancestry, but I'm not committing yet. And 100% on using common sense and your intuition!

Thank you so so so much for explaining how to use critical thinking and intuition together as well as individually. They are absolutely vital for most witchcraft practices, and life in general. As someone who primarily works with rocks and crystals, it saddens me to see so much misinformation taken as fact regarding basic real-world safety, and I imagine it’s the same with plants, etc. Research takes time, but I know from experience that it can help people connect to their practices and the world around them in ways they never previously considered :)

Funny that you mentioned Rosemary, since I’ve been feeling pulled to it lately. That said, I’ve mostly been looking for protection, yes, but especially healing and cleansing. I’ve also been finding myself drawn to working with incense and fragrances. I’ve never done a spell before in my life, and going straight into deity work because I was pulled into this because I was being pulled by a deity. Even though that’s only recommended for advanced practitioners.

Hi Frankie! So, watching this video I saw you mention Raven Grimassi (who was a person I haven't heard of before). Upon looking him up, I saw that he has a lot of ties to like? Aradia-based witchcraft, which I'm super interested in. If it isn't a bother, I was wondering if it would be possible to point me in the direction of why he's an unreputable source? I'm doing my own digging and while I can't find a ton, he does seem kind of sketchy. This video is super helpful, also! I'm finally settling down and getting into my craft, and these are honestly skills that are really important but I just skipped over the first time. Thanks for sharing :)

Thank you so much for this video, I've always felt drawn to all things magickal and it's really great to have this video to help me. Though, I'm still having trouble finding what types of witchcraft would be right for me. I know that I feel drawn to energies and I've always heavily relied on my intuition. I've also been very interested in spell magicks, though I'm not sure what types of practices these align with. Does anyone have any starting points to research these different practices?

I was doing witch craft before I even knew what it was and I was really good at what I did. Rosemary is one of the best seasonings. The way Christianity makes it as if evoking a demon is so easy like uh? Confusion demons are mostly made up of hierarchy and have roles in that hierarchy meaning some of them lead legions of other demons. Like what demon has the time to be easily randomy summoned just by doing a basic movement? Without a proper offering of some sort not having to do with your soul. Ain't nobody got the time. 21:01 They used fear to get people to respect a deity but it was all olden way like your pathetic if you can't do X, Y, and Z in addition they said if you don't have it don't invoke him this wasn't even a closed deity. I knew something was off about them (they felt icky, vibes way off) so I asked my spirit team to show me why and come to find out they did what I described in the paragraph.

Thanks for your video. To me most of what you said is extreme sometimes but its just all common sense. I don't nor ever will go by what someone said nor do i have too. Different strokes for different folks. To ne the word craft in witchcraft is just that a craft and i am a student not and never will an expert no do i ever want to be. Your video is really good but wanted to mention thow that if you have hurt anyone with some words or actions and you made a mistake don't just ignore it or own up to it and apologize or take responsibility for it (if possible) but try to quickly nake admens. Its really to me extremely important to the person or people your hurt and let someone if they want to make the admends. My experience people don't allow someone to make admends and apology and taking responsibility isnt enuff and doesn't help thows you've hurt. Again commen sense. And its should always be used. And be careful and try hard not to hurt anyone then if this to me is practice you would not hurt anyone or there will be less you've hurt. Preferably hurt no one if course when ever possible obviously. Thats just my own experience but no one in my life has done that for me nor gave me the chance to make admends if i hurt them. Thats hard for me to live with if i wasn't given that chance but oh well ya can't force anything on someone one One other thing. Again my experience some may accused you of hurting them when you didn't but will blame you any way and try to use you as an escape goat or doormat. My life is filled with thows type and was destroyed because of such people and others took their side even thow they were wrong and most knew that person was wrong. I was the only one who got hurt by it and my life was destroyed by then as well because of it and its not something you can recover from if at all. I never did but obviously still had to go on anyway. Thows type love to play games and love to use and abuse others and most just believe them without finding out if they were at all truthful. Just like alot of people just believe everything someone says im a video but don't use commen sense and question that video. They just accept it. And as far as labels go again different strokes for different folks but why use any label too me it stupid and silly because we change all the time and theres no one path any how. When there is so many to choose from and try. Again i am a student not an expert nor do i want to be. Have fum. Witchcraft is an personal explanation and no one person has the answers no one path is perfect fitting. I suggest try different things, different paths. Bring out the child in yourself and look threw their eyes and with wonder and just have fun and learn also make mistakes and grow and allow others to do the same. None of us is more important then another nor perfect and never will be. Just have fun and live and alllow others too. do the same.Otherwise whats the point???? We are way too conditioned and non bending towards others more then are self and that too me is just wrong. Thats not how i want too be at lease otherwise what is the point??? There is more i wanted to comment on but i think i probably said too much. These are only my opinions but not just only my opinions but comes from my personal, very painful experience's. Take it or leave. As i said and will say again different strokes for different folks. Great health, love and peace toy you and too all a good day or nite where ever you are. I hope all is well. Peace. P. S.( Owner if this video, thanks for being you and not repeating what others keep saying.)

this doesnt have to do anything w the video but imma still ask anyway. Im a 100% finnish person, i have witches/shamans/healers in my family tree (closest of all my granmas dad who was a loitsun lukija (spell spoker) and my whole life ive been surrounded with random spell and traditions from the finnish pagans. Ive been doing subtle witchcraft for the past 6 months without rlly thinking what i was doing and now i wanna start getting more into my roots. So, is it okay to make spell or manifest in some forms that i know work and are okay even tho it isnt mentioned in finnish paganism? i hope you get what i mean T-T

Wikipedia, even though not a reliable source itself, can be a nice starting point because many articles have a bibliography with a link or print details. This is pretty much the same method as zzzprinky recommends next to me - using the books' bibliography section. Start with a reliable book you have, brace yourself and dive into that rabbit hole :D

For very hardcore academic resources: google scholar, though I find it hard to get good results on paganism and witchcraft. If you just use google, try to filter your results. For example, by adding "-pinterest" in the search bar, it will not include Pinterest. There are more symbols like this for better results :)
