Wow! Great material. I only half way through but plan to view it all. Just want to comment on the airbrushes. I run x2. A badger 155 for grime, and primer and a 150 with narrow needle/nosel for paint. I agree about the primer but the fu-up is not permanent. I take it apart like a rifle and use Mr Tool cleaner or some other harsh solvent and it is as good as new. Cheers from Winnipeg

I’m only half way through and this is already one of my favourite videos on KZread ever. An absolute treasure trove of painting technique theory, even if you’re not bothered about grimdark. The filtering point is something that I’ve been mulling over as an alternative to a straight zenithal highlight because I want to use complementary colour shading in addition to the zenithal highlight, add the primary colour with inks and then wash the enamel over the top. Excited to watch the rest of this.

@@thesaucepainting I am taking my first swing at grim dark and tried the chipping medium last night. I have mixed feelings on it. I don’t feel like I have control of how much paint is being removed which I don’t like. But it does add texture which I do like. Will have to try the sponge

Do you know if any companies sell a purple streaking grime? I'd like my Deathwatch to look like they've waded through the blood of thousands of xenos during each mission.

I'm sure you could create your own purple oil wash in whatever shade you want. It should have a similar effect to an enamel wash. I've not seen anyone create an enamel wash from enamel paints, but that might be worth a bit of experimentation if you prefer the behaviour of enamels to oils.

@@jamesdenison7773 I have some purple oils I was planning to try on Tyranids. I’ll try a test mini to see what it looks like over black. Might work if I add a little white or silver to brighten it up.
