Highly disagree. Evo 8/9 is the best. Evo x is perfect daily driver. I have both in my garage and I daily the x. Autocross/track is definitely my Evo 8

@@G30_Jay The 4B11t is a much better engine in every single way, except its ability to hold more than 1200hp for drag racing scenarios. The Evo X 5 speed is much stronger than the Evo 9 5 speed. The Evo X AWD system is much more advanced with a stronger rear diff than the Evo 9. The chassis is much stiffer, safer, and more aerodynamic on the Evo X. Parts availability and support are also more and going to exist for longer as there were more X's made and more recently, the X will never die. The Evolution stayed true to its name, every generation was better than the previous. I have a Evo X built for Group N rally, and I wouldnt consider another car as the Evo X is stupid reliable around 350hp, you cant break it, also daily drive it in the Canadian winter and after relocating the AYC pump the Evo X is unbreakable, and the chassis refuses to rust since it was made of top tier steel, it is literally the best vehicle ever made in my eyes.

Videos like this makes me want to keep my Evo even more !

I have a 2011 300 SST which has been turned to 385bhp (UK rolling road tune), 3 port boost controller and 200 cel sports cat. I have 3 kids and use it for work. Amazing car. Only weakness is the sst trans which was rebuilt with uprated clutch pack and shift fork 4 upgrade.

I might be a little new to the Evo world and all, but I wouldn't mind seeing a video on the major failing points on these cars and what to look for and be aware of when owning one. Great work as always, keep grinding my friends!

@@LeaningGumby probably from the repeateded cases of people who don't know how to launch the car or just launchign the car itself. I beat the shit out of my car the last 7 years in -40c weather and tcase doesn't whine.

The hardest part for me, is that good performance shops like these are considered international for me. I wish there were more Shops like this in Trinidad.

*cough* AYC PUMP! :P Ive replaced that thing a few times before it ran out it's extra warranty. I installed a new pump in my trunk after the last one died. MAP, consider selling relocation kits if you don't already. The process to relocate it is pretty easy and us fans up north here really need them if we want to drive on our cars in the winter :)

I currently drive a 2021 STI. Previous car was a 2019 STI. But back in 2006 I bought a brand new EVO IX GSR. It was full bolt-ons plus tuned. Owned it for several years then sold it.

would you buy a evo x over a 2021 STI?

I worked for a Mistu dealership for a while. After about 4 months there, a dude came in with his 03 Evo 8 looking to trade in for a brand new 12 Evo X. So after some obsessed pestering, I got my boss to sell me the car for about 2k over his trade value. I did a little work on the car, got it tuned, and was able to have a DD Evo 8 making around 330whp on stock internals. As much as I loved that car, we came on some hard times in the next year and I ended up selling it since it was a second vehicle that my wife never drove. Unfortunately, it was only about 2 months later before I began making good money and the dude that bought it wasn't keen on selling it back (which I totally understand.) Fast forward about 12 years later and suddenly I'm looking for another manual, turbo, AWD car. And since the STI is hard to find in decent condition without needing an engine rebuild, I'm right back to looking at another Evo. I've got my fingers crossed and prayer beads ready...

Nice video! As for modding, I've already bought a few parts from MAPerformance and love them! Open dump downpipe screams down the road when wide open throttle, lol. Aiming for 500whp right now.

As a former Ralliart X owner, I am surprised you didn't talk about the infamous TC-SST and its shortcomings.

The Evo X isn’t 400lbs heavier than the Evo IX. The Evo X GSR 5spd manual is 1565kg or 3450lbs. The Evo IX is 1470kg or 3240lbs. 200 pound difference, you guys are way off.

AYC pump, And the clutch job are huge cons. Other than that my X has been awesome. Making almost 400whp and it makes me smile all the time.

Evo 8/9 = go-kart, more racecar like . Evo x = livable performance

Would love to see one of your MA EVO 8/9/10 long blocks built and installed into a car! More of a serious build not just simple everyday bolt on stuff. That probably most of us here watching have done on multiple cars We’ve owned. Something more technical and immersive. Pull the motor, trans, Tcase, everything show how it’s done with so what basic tools then build the new block swap over everything then put it all back together! Some real deal getting your hands dirty, busting knuckles kinds build!! There’s so many channels that just do bolt on’s then call it a day. What happens when your big turbo bolt on, blows a hole 🕳 in the side of your block and you need to figure out how to change your motor! Let me see the real magic happen!!

I had an Evo X and two 8s (RS &MR) and now a 9! I prefer the 8/9 because it's lighter and more nimble!

I Have only owned Subarus and Have loved them No problems Except little stuff (Yet) have popped up. But always loved the Evo's and the X's were always my "If I want a Evo" Kinda Car. Mitsubishi makes amazing cars and It seems with great reliability and tons of Aftermarket support.! I love the Evos and Hope to have one, One day next to my 14 STi!

Good luck buying a nice evo 8 or 9 without paying 45 grand, I’ll never sell mine I’m glad I bought it 5 years ago the value has gone up almost exponentially. What a dream smasher no wonder why the kids are driving subarus (grenade on wheels) ;)

Our secondary family car is a Evo X 2011. We absolute love it. We drive it all year around in northern Scandinavia. I just wish it could fit 17" or even 16" wheels for the winter season. Great video!

It's not the horse power you have to worry about. That would be a torque related question. Plenty of built, high whp X's running stock 5sp's. A huge part of if it will last or not is the tune. If your tuner is ramping in peak torque early in the RPM range than your trans won't last. The X 5sp is pretty well built from the factory.

@@q2subzero Kozmic Motorsports is the go to for built SST's. I mean I'd say it's worth it. Way pricier than building the 5sp though. Check out their site.

@@q2subzero there are a few quirks with the SST. Once built they are awesome. 350wtq is the max on the stock SST.

What do you see the future value of the Evo 5/X And JDM turbo sports cars? Seems like everything is skyrocketing

Imagine making evo content and not having the tomei exhaust in stock 😩

If you have ever been in an evo x specifically the cloth seats like 2013 year is they are EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE like softest seats ever like I would rather sit in evo seats than a 100k BMW. Big race car too with like doors being very light and performance oriented.

Evos... discontinued due to... what exactly? Official answer: As efficiency and versatility became increasingly important to consumers, Mitsubishi decided to focus their efforts on crossover vehicles and electric or hybrid cars in order to meet customer demand. which in my book is BS....

Evo lancer forever.

I’m in the market for a Evo X right now but I’m pulled to both side the GSR because it’s manual but it’s has a 5spd and it comes very basic but the MR especially the SSL or the Sunroof Sound and leather trim only comes in the MR and it’s automatic but it is a 6spd so idk which one I want especially because I just got my wife a 2022 outlander S-AWD SEL Special Edition I want to feel the leather seat in my interior too on the Evo I get .

The manuals are much more robust than the sst equipped cars, but if you want leather bad enough you can go for it!

We would recommend a tune with those mods, but it isn't absolutely necessary to drive the car.

modify all you will but my 2015 Evo MR will forever be stock so it's value keeps going up like is has been. over 10k more then what i payed so far :) hope they never make another evo

I'm running a stock block at the moment what's the best stock frame turbo to replace the stock turbo with? Garret turbo preferred thanks. I have a hyper tune manifold and tomei down pipe and an invidia N1 dual exit cat back system with a hyperflow race pipe at the moment running flex fuel with walbro 460 pump and ID 1300x injectors. Currently on Premium it's making 308HP and 348HP on E85 Any suggestions would be appreciated thanks.

While a great platform for cheap power and handling, we don't have much experience with those cars! There is a ton of aftermarket support for them and we have a fair amount of parts for them on our website!

Another Con you forgot is the Clutch master cylinder is cheap plastic and breaks alot with aftermarket clutches.

I daily a lancer and I really want an evo. Unfortunately I can’t afford it.

@@merf500 I had a 2011 lancer. My mom was the original owner and he had it for years until she gave the car to me around 2017. The car had no problem what so ever. She took good care of it
