@@user-zk5ps5ms1s they are bargains for the performance. No Lift Shift, Factory Boost Gauge, Brembo Brakes and some even had Recaro seats all for under 25k new. Now you can get them for under 10k. They are seriously fast and can push lots of power easily

It’s an underrated car. The 2.0 turbo ecotec is a really good motor. I have a 2008 HHR SS with some bolt ons (getting a tune soon). It has the same engine and runs like a champ.

Own a few. None are race cars but they all put lenghts on cars with 2 more cylinders so its fun. Because of that a sleeper is probably my favorite kind of build.

Someday I'm going to buy an SS and slap proper Holden and Commodore badges on it to make my family in Australia proud 😂

Sleepers are awesome, and my family has one as a DD...2018 Ford Flex Limited, AWD, 3.5L EcoBoost (which replaced the 2011 Flex EB we had before it). These cars are a Taurus SHO with a wagon body, and are surprisingly pretty quick and nimble for their size and weight. With good aftermarket tires and a couple of other upgrades, our lunchbox on wheels is able to embarrass other crossovers, without breaking the bank...

Love that you brought up the 94-96 Impala as a sleeper. You should do a video on just them. Cuz I'm a fan of that year of the first muscle car

I had an '87 ( that's in the 1900's ) Buick Regal T type LC. It was a GNX except, it was Blue and had a big chrome grille with all the chrome badges and sim/con top. It was great fun to beat down pretty much anything... as long as I could keep the tires from burning down to the rims!

I've got one for ya! Just stay with me for 2 seconds here. Factory supercharged v6 that you could own for like under 3k. Your grandma's bubble buick from the late 90s early 2000s. The buick park Avenue. Arguably one of the best sleepers out there. The 3800 is a more than proven v6 while it is front wheel drive you can also find this same engine (not supercharged) in some of the Camaros in the same time period. Those can be supercharged with junkyard heads and a modified supercharger or have one shipped up from the buys down under cause their holdens 3.8 had a supercharger. There is also a lot of aftermarket support for these engines where you can get performance cams and upgraded springs and lifters. I've even seen turbo kits for the non supercharged variant if that's your thing. These engines are also plentiful. At my local large pick n pull place I can easily find 20+ cars with the 3800 in it and occasionally the supercharged one so there's no worries about blowing it up. Literally this was in almost every gm car in the late 90s

Older Australian commodore cop cars (bt1) are perfect examples, they were the entry level body and styling but with the performance of the top model, with the v8, bigger breaks, stiffer suspension etc. etc. very sought after down under!!

😂 I’m so glad u covered the Houston beltway, I drive on that all the time and there’s so much road rage. 😂 love you fitment industries.

Love the car but I hate to say this. Most definitely not a sleeper for almost all car guys/gals. Not only are they mildly aggressive but most know what lies beneath the hood of that small sized sedan and the tuning possibilities of the stock motor/setup. You could fool some cocky stock 5.0 or camaro owner but if they’re a real car person they’l know wassup

@@slumygoat Yep, my dad says his looks just like any other regular Chevy sedan but it’s bright red and the hood has some aggressive lines and there are mildly sporty design cues across the car. Definitely not a sleeper IMO. Fun? Oh yeah, definitely!

The G8 (its older brother) looks more aggressive imo. Id rather get the rare GXP LS3 than a Malibu.

Just bought a 2018 Fusion Sport. love it but it needs a few tweaks to be perfect

I currently own a 2004 Volvo S60 2.5t that I'm looking to make into a sleeper, and I can tell you personally that a big problem of trying to build a sleeper is a lack of aftermarket support as your vehicle isn't normally modified like you're trying to do so the money isn't there for the big aftermarket companies.

All the Rs just suck money from the owners pockets. I’ve got 13k in my 98 v70R in just the last 8 months

Wish I never sold it but I used to own a 1983 E28 BMW which had a 500hp RB30 setup with all the goodies, looked stock apart from the wheels. Much fun was had :)

I'm glad that MAZDASPEED 6 was there. Yes they have speed in the name, but no one really notices that anyways. Plus debadge very common

A sleeper is worth it especially if you live in a country like Australia that has strict car modification laws. my 96 integra is a sleeper and cops don't bat an eye because I never fixed the faded paint and scratches as well as the dents.

I would like to to think my S60 is a sleeper, but could have more power though. I guess I will eventually have to “stage 4 it”. I would love to get my hands on a 2.4 T5 (B5244T5) top for it with VVT on both cams and a bigger turbo and some bigger injectors. I once had a Porsche Macan S pull up next to me a stop light, he engaged launch control (i heard it) and i was like great let’s see how my (at the time stock low pressure turbo, with a manual M56 stacks up), it was 340Hk, PDK and AWD against 200Hk, 5 speed manual, FWD with 3 people in the car, in the wet, he had only a car length on me. The Porsche guy looked shocked that my 20 year old Volvo managed to keep up, as he let of and looked over to switch in to my lane, i braked lightly as i had just prior ran out of 2nd gear and banning the red limiter. Wonder who close I could get now that the S60 is tuned 250Hk with 410Nm (stock it had 200Hk 285Nm), I’m considering down badging it just to Mess with people....

My 97 accord will soon be ready. I'll definitely pick up a few things from fitment industries, can't wait.

Im making my awd 2002 s60 a sleeper. Its all beat up and ima drift stich the bumper, hiddden black fmic, big turbo with stock exhaust and cutout

I found a ratty 05legacy with about 1100hp keeping a top mount. It rides under the radar but the heat soak is crazy you got maybe 2 passes if it's cool outside.

I want to but an H6 motor in my Baja. That would probably be very sleeper

Is it possible to make a 97 tercel a sleeper? Its my first car with 67k on her. She's really mint on the outside, but I feel she deserves some hp. And does anyone know if there is a place that will help me find out if I can engine swap said car? Or ideas to increase hp? Any help is appreciated, I'm trying to get into doing things on cars and learn. Thank you!

Hahah I loved my little sleeper Saturn! It had 305HP to the front wheels and a super charger😂 Now I got a sleeper 335i four door making 600HP

All I drive sleepers. My supercharged Lexus is250 with 450hp. MY Chevy SS with 1400hp. All my other care are fun decently fast daily. Next is a Durango Hellcat or Ram TRX Hellcat or CT5V blackwing

I bought a Fit in 2008. Great car. Modified the shit out of it aesthetically and the usual coilovers, wheels, intake, exhaust...I miss that car. The first-gen Fits are fucking SICK, especially with K20 swaps.

Ford Taurus sho is hands down the best American sleeper. I say this because the new caddy’s with twin turbo v6 and awd still cost to much used for under a 15k sleeper budget. Like slap a 1000$ fuel pump on there and you will be maxing them turbos out!
