    Could you talk about pre thaw and post thaw semen analysis results? I'm using a known donor and the initial semen analysis was sperm count of 273K. Post thaw is 10K. I did get pregnant from my first IUI but ended in miscarriage. Could the lab have messed up? Or is that normal for it to drop so much? Is the 10K rule based on pre or post thaw?

    Dr Lora - what are your thoughts on DNA frag testing? Do you recommend it when all sperm parameters are low (OAT)? We are trying to decide on IVF vs just using donor sperm.. it seems that even ICSI may not be able to overcome high DNA frag,? Tho I understand this testing is newer and debated, it seems there is some evidence dna frag affects IVF success rates, from what I have read. We are thinking it might be good to know before deciding, because if it is high, donor sperm may be the better route for us.

    Hey so my husband just got his results back. They tested something called clumping the standard range is None-1+, his results were 2+. My obgyn explained to me that his clumping level was high which means it can prevent moving forward. Also his viscosity has high which I was told that means his seman is too thick. I was wondering how can he lower his levels of both clumping & viscosity?

Urologist says there is nothing wrong, it's been an year with all these test but we have still not conceive. Things are fine at female end, my husband already have a son from an ex though that happen 21 years back. What should be do now? Should we moved to iui or ivf

    here are the general reference values for a semen analysis: Volume of ejaculate: Typically, an ejaculate volume of at least 1.5 to 5 milliliters is considered normal. Sperm concentration: A sperm count of over 15 million sperm per milliliter is generally considered normal. Sperm motility: Progressive motility of at least 32% or more of sperm is usually considered normal. Sperm morphology: A percentage of at least 4% of sperm with normal morphology is considered normal. These are general reference values, and specific laboratory ranges may vary. If you are considering parenthood and have undergone a semen analysis, it's advisable to discuss the results with a fertility specialist for a more detailed evaluation and personalized.

    Yes stop vaping. Other fertility specialists on you tube have said this. Vaping, smoking, marijuana, alcohol etc are all very bad for male fertility. My obgyn said the same thing. She had a patient who couldn’t get pregnant for over a year. The husband finally quite these habits and they fell pregnant 3 months later. Stop vaping.

    Hi, thanks for the video, how does transgender hrt affect sperm and if the doses affect it more and chances of permanent sterility or just temporary in most cases

  • @drlorashahine

    @drlorashahine

    HRT decreases and can stop sperm production in transgender patients. Preserving fertility by freezing sperm samples before transition keeps Reproductive options open in the future. There are some studies showing return of sperm production after stopping HRT in some patients. This is a relatively new field of medicine (meaning the field is paying more attention and researching more) so we’ll learn more in the future.

    History of any STI may be associated with some decreased fertility (if pelvic adhesions from an active infection) but many with a history of STI have no fertility issues. Thank you for watching!

    Insane! Watching how I blasted all over the "place" in less than a month was shocking, I used what I talked about the other day, and although it actually took about 5 weeks for my volume to double, I just go'ogled Jan Venstaker's Shooting Ropes and her reaction has been priceless!

    You’re inconsistent with your naming of men and women. You refer to women as ‘people with uteruses and ovaries’ and men you address as men in stead of people with testicles and a penis, why is that ? You might want to evaluate how many people you alienate vs win by using such terminology…
