From a logical standpoint it makes sense that they made all the character models more 3D realistic looking as trying to blend every anime’s individual art and animation style would be hard

The competitive fanbase is the one that keeps games alive. CSGO/LOL/Street fighter...etc is kept alive by the competitive players. It is a FIGHTING game after all. People will want to beat other players and show that they are better. Just normal human nature.

Aside from fighting games being kept alive by comp play. Jump force was awesome I'm concept but the execution was awful. The graphics story multi-player balance all the core pillars of the game were a complete joke. This dosent mean you can't enjoy the game that's a completely subjective thing but you have to understand jump force as a video game that needed to make money was a abject failure. I hope this dosent discourage them in the future and they take everything they've learned to make a truly wonderful crossover game we can all enjoy for a long time.

I was playing the jump force story one time and my brother came in the room and started reading the cutscene. He changed the entire context of the fight from whatever they were actually talking about to Toguro wanting drugs from Yusuke

This game deserves better.

I wish they made an actual 2d fighting game with a roster like this

there is a 2d version and its one of the best anime games i have played, just like the first reply said "mugen jump force" has all of the famous anime characters and is really addicting, u can play it for hours, its not very hardware demanding (storage size is super big tho) and the graphics are 2d sprites that look awesome.

Rip Jumpforce, cool game but didn't last long.

My main problem was it was such a huge downgrade from J stars. J stars was far from balanced and had a lot of room to grow into a sequel but for every step forward that jump force took, it took 5 steps back. Firstly it plays like a Dragonball game. Yugi shouldn't be instant transmitting behind you to spike you during a combo, that's a Dragonball thing. J stars did a great job of making every character feel right to their series with different energy mechanics and preferred ranges, etc. The roster was a huge downgrade. It has more characters than J stars but far fewer series represented. 10% of the roster shouldn't come from Naruto and then give them more characters as dlc. I found plenty of series I'd never heard of in j stars to try out. Jump force thought piccolo was a better pick than a character from another series that people love. They made it 3v3 and pulled back on co-op mechanics. I have friends that don't like PvP fighting games, they loved coop bot games in j stars but despite being 3v3 this time, that's not an option anymore. The 3v3 was pointless anyway. In a traditional fighter like skull girls or MvC, multiple characters served as a sort of combo breaker. Once you got comboed to death, you'd get another character drop in to take your turn back. In jump force they have the same health bar. Swapping is purely just because you want to

@@blickman5090 nah the gameplay has every character act like a carbon copy of Goku. Yugi has no business teleporting behind you to smash you into the ground. There's way less depth in exchange for big flashy effects. In j stars you can have your second player converge on one enemy or split up. You can play one person forward and have one player zone to protect the lower health player. In jump force you can switch between 3 characters but they share a healthbar so it doesn't even matter. Jump force decides to cut entire series to put in more Dragonball, one piece and Naruto characters so the roster sucks. Why would you take biscuit instead of a kankichi or medaka? J stars represent shonen jump better with fewer characters. Jump force literally only has flashy effects going for it. It's all show and no substance

@@michaelm8529 lol no not every character had the same playstyle as Goku, I can assure you The Kenshin characters played very differently from Goku as did Kaiba, and of course they all have teleporting because I can guarantee that if they didn't and you just gave that to DBZ characters to be "true" to the respective series. no one would stand a chance against a good player using a DBZ character.

@@magicshruums1014 i bought it back in the day on steam, so thanks to steam i can still download it, sadly i am missing the 4 or 6 last characters, so i may have to "yarr yarr and a bottle of rum" since character pass 2 cost more then a car if you can manage to find a key, so find yourself a boat and set the sails, thats the only way to find it now without winning euro jackpot ;)

I think opinions of this game varies depending on whether or not you play among friends. I've played this game since release and I can't even tell you how to get to story mode. It has a very forgiving learning curve and really enjoyable playing with friends. Admittedly, I don't do a lot of online play so I couldn't relate to any of the gripes people had with this game. I love it though.

same, have had it for ages and played it allot when i get friends over, earlier today i realised for the first time that i am missing 3 characters, and that i can unlock them by doing some team mission stuff, games like this are best enjoyed with friends on the couch anyway ;)

What happened? Bamco was too cheap to renew the licenses for the character usage and as a result the game was delisted and all DLC is gone forever from storefronts.

This game consumed the last 4 years of my life... It was well spent no regrets

We need a better Shonen Jump crossover game.

I hope they come out with a part 2 because it was a really good game

I think some of the issue was the fact that it focused on the big 4 anime mostly when there is a whole world full of fighting anime or anime where fighting happens but isnt a main part of the series.

My friend group and I at the time loved this game, it got people in the group who never watched anime interested and watched because of this game. It will forever hold a special place in my heart and in my memories gaming for hours at each others houses like we were kids (we were 18/19 years old at the time) going at it and arguing whos the best at the game. Good times fr.

I have this game on disc and still play it regularly because regardless of how bad the story is it is still one of the few shonen jump games that had such a variety and mixture of things that just can't be found anywhere else. Love the video, you did a great job of explaining it and kept me intrigued.

@@flyghtmyleage6041 With normal hits that is. Specials can land as often as they want if they don't immediately stun the opponent. Mix that with your assist and the right character and you can pull of a lot of cool stuff.

Other things people complained about is the lack of stages/arenas based on actual series and also lack of music. Also on a personal note I think the combat could have been a bit better. I feel like some characters lack moves or a abilities.

R.I.P Jump Force man, the game honestly had a really cool concept despite already doing it before. Honestly, I never really liked the whole 3-D style of the game, I also thought it looked weird. It would’ve been cool if they did the art style like DBFZ (Dragon Ball FighterZ) and it honestly would’ve done way better if they changed the art style and other things. Overall though, Jump Force was I guess an ok game with just a really cool concept. Btw great vid and commentary!

If I had to guess why the game was shut down, my guess is that the character Dai, a character from Dragon Quest, is owned by Square Enix. And we all know how that company can be sometimes. A new Jump game is inevitable, they love to release them around anniversaries. And guess what, Jump is turning 55 this year (in fact, as I write this comment, it is the exact date of the first Jump magazine issued for the first time)

Nah they wouldn't shut the servers down just because of a character. Dead by Daylight had characters they lost license to (for whatever reason). Demigorgon, Steve and Nancy and the Stranger Things map were all simply taken out of the game (with the exception of those that already owned the characters), and the servers continued like normal. The reason they most likely shut down the JP servers is because the player base was simply too low.

i absolutely loved this game and i loved playing it w my friends and was devistated when they announced the end

Eylin: my dad and brother and me played the game we loved the game so much that we never wanna stop playing it and i wish some people still have some love on this game feels like these people put hard work to make this masterpiece so hopefully there is still a amazing light left

I think the reason I put it down and never played again was something with the battle system. I don’t remember what exactly though.

I feel they just dropped the ball with the execution, i remember literally nothing of the story its that forgetable which is ironic for having some of the greatest stories of all time in it

My guy said jumpforce 20 times in the first minute just in case we forgot what we were watching

Personally, the graphics of this game didn't bother me very much. I can even say I liked them. But the character faces were static. There's literally no eyebrow movement and hardly any blinking. Hardly any hair physics either. It gave the characters a mascot costume vibe. So the semi-realism was contradicted by the little detail in the animation.

The single shared health bar is what made me never even get the game

i actually enjoyed jump force i thought the graphics were kinda mid as you said but i really enjoyed the multiplayer

Honestly I really liked this game, it was unique and it had a large amount of character variety. I didn't really play it online though since I wasn't all the great in it but still I did very much enjoy the game and I've played it a little over 30 hours or so.

Just went back and played this on switch a few months back it was pretty interesting at best 7 out of ten would've helped if they included the dub voice actors from their respected animes the ideas are pretty cool wouldn't mind seeing this get another chance in the future 😊😊

the glitches and stiff animation was fine but my issue with the game is that they nerfed combo potential like vanilla asta was crazy with mad combo routes

The game isn’t bad, it’s the players the abuse the exploits. The exploits shouldn’t be there in the first place, but I still play it with my homies and it’s fun.

I wanted a jump force part 2 with no guard break cheese no r3 no grab ult with skins

This has GREAT potential. It just needs a little bit more work. I've only played it once but I've always wondered why it hasn't gotten big yet..

I'll say it again. There should be a Musou game set in the jump force universe. There are already 2 fist of the north star and 4 one piece musou games, simular stages appear in warriors orochi 3, and it would be really cool.

Beyond the terrible graphics and super limited gameplay with trash balancing, I think the thing that killed it for me was the character roster. It was SO heavily skewed towards the big name series, wasted slots on absolute nobody's, and locked all the most hyped characters behind DLC paywalls. Obviously it was never going to keep everyone happy and I get why all of that was done: branding, history, and money; but wow did that ruin it for me

I plan on getting this game when I get a PS4 on the first of December along with a cheap TV to play it on

Just got recommended this video. I might have a very different opinion about this game than everyone else. I am going to state the pros first: Pros: 1. This game is a really, really good game whether you play it with friends or yourself. Why? Because there are so many characters you could try out with different move set. 2. They adapt characters from the latest adaptation of them, like how ichigo is on his final form from the manga (Which already ended) or Luffy Gear 4th. 3. The gameplay is straight up 🔥🔥🔥!!!! It's a face paced battle arena which are my favourite!! 4. I also really REALLY LOVE the graphics and character model, i like the aesthetics they are going for (anime characters in a Real World). 5. Character Customization had so much potential!! You can choose your battle style (ninja, pirates, or saiyan?) and made up your own skillset. Imagine if the game actually did well, we'd have more battle style. Cons: The only problem i've had with the game was the fact that the story mode is so ass, there are no cutscene, there was just 2 character models facing each other and given a voice. There is literally a cutscene where Frieza fly in like a PNG moving bruh.. there are no animation made for story mode, 0 animation made. The trailer really fooled you that there is going to be this epic story mode cutscene, but there are none. You are forced to swallow this ass story with it's ass cutscene.

The amount of time I put into this I've probably fought everyone who has ever played this game. I cannot wait for the next addition

Never played Jump Forces, but seeing this brings me back to J Stars man. The memories.

A 2D jump force fighting game made by arc system works would be peak.

A more minor thing that annoyed me was that characters dont have alternative outfits. Especially Kurapika and Aizen

Yk jump force was actually an amazing local game to play. I had a blast with my cousin and being able to use sage of six paths Naruto against super sayin Goku is all I could ask for

I was lucky enough to buy this game and all the dlc right before the shutdown, and I do not regret it.

This was mine and my nephews favorite game to play together because it had all my childhood favorites and he just thought they looked cool!

I’m going to be honest with you , they make a jump force now it’ll bang . Demon slayer , mha , black clover , demon king of misfit, JJK, chainsaw man . A lot of players and anime lovers will love it . I also absolutely loved the CAS system . I could actually be a sword user which was mental . Use sword attacks , sword supers . It was amazing . But I can see them giving us a new jump force and it’ll bang

MHA was in the game. You had 4 MHA characters and 3 were DLC. Black clover was in the game but you only had Asta. Either way all of these animes have characters that deserved to be in the game. Its such a shame that you had only Asta from black clover...What a missed opportunity.

I hated this game as soon as I saw the cut scenes (which I skipped) followed by a lobby where you walk arround to find what should be in a menu.

I really hate that the characters dont blink or move their eyes. Makes them look like lifeless dolls

I was only wondering about jump force yesterday

might sound weird but I thought the worst part was that you had to make a team. It just takes away from the epicness of a 1v1 fight which is how battles always happen in anime. I don't want to have to pair Vegeta with someone else, he would want to fight alone every time.

I think the graphics are dope and the fighting is great honestly hope they continue it

I can hear Gut's theme around 4:20 onward. A man of culture I believe. This game was super fun to play with my friends and I never had any cons for it myself. We loved it

I feel like if they went into a different direction with the character models and made some adjustments with the gameplay it wouldn’t been perfect but I still liked it

Yeah this was a good time. Graphics were terrible but my buddy and I who I met playing online ranked in jump force actually grinded to top 100, and I also created an endless special move combo with no light or heavy attacks that could 100-death a life bar. I still believe to this day that was the reason for the white blinking combo breaker patch cuz the way it was set up you could string any variation of the sm combo as long one or two of the moves landed. Best part was it started with an unblockable. Sad it got patched tho

Sharing a health bar was a major CON

I genuinely don't see any problem with the models. Although on some characters it makes them look like action figures with how glossy they can get. Wish they toned the characters a tiny bit better toward the ninja storm cartoonish look while keeping it's own unique style.

I still have the disc , wish I have gotten a couple of dlc's when I had the chance 😢

They needed three health bars for all three characters but other than that it was really fun.

Wen I found out they were shutting down servers and that even DLC you already purchased would be impossible to re-download, I just went ahead and wiped the game off my save data, cloud included. I knew the game was gonna be dead from that point on, so there was no reason to keep it around.

I was really sad when the jump force serves went offline, so much so i traded one of my broken controllers with a friend just to get a physical copy, the graphics were whatever I was more enthralled with the flashy moves and being able to control them instead of just watching them, the story was god awful though, couldn’t tell you a single plot point whatsoever

It was a great game, I loved the 3D graphics

btw its still playable when you crack the game. it isnt online but it is something i guess
