HoT is on about the level of season 1 living story, the reason you felt silverwaste was a bit easier. Season 1 was modernized, so thats its more on the level of the current content, meaning its just a tiny bit harder than HoT (though HoT does have certain things where multiple players are required, like certain hero point challenges and story parts/map events)

as you may already be finding out now as you’re probably in the middle of HoT, mastery points will be vital to your game play. master as much as you can. also you should be more aware by this point that gw2 is going to introduce to you a lot of different currencies to buy things with vendors. a lot of this stuff will be key to how much you can play and replay to get gear or things you will want. also after HoT you’ll also notice portal scrolls will be key to expansions and living worlds moving forward. i would highly recommend investing in portal scrolls as the end game content will require a lot of traveling

Scarlet is one of the best joker archetype in media. Seemingly chaotic, very twisted, yet very driven and extremly effective in achieving goal that are beyond understanding common folk, creepy death grim, tricks and pranks, and of course- massive destruction

These are really good and fun summarizations of your experience! Excited to see your impressions of HoT (and hopefully more), I personally played it when it was new so there was an abundance of people helping each other, but even then some challenges and hero points required me to go out of my way and use the LFG for help so don't be afraid to do that 😄 Sometimes you can find squads of meta trains etc. where people go through the most important things in the area. Lastly, not to set too many expectations but in my opinion the maps and environments of HoT were a huge step up from the previous content both visually and exploration/movement wise so I hope you enjoy taking it all in.

Thank you! ^^ I'm definitely looking forward to hopping into HoT. It'll be my first expansion experience in GW2 so I not only get to experience something new in the game, but I get to see how ArenaNet differs in their approach to expansion content from other MMOs. It's pretty exciting lol I kinda used the end of this video as an LFG xDDD

Just discovering your content. It's always neat to hear a new players take on a game I've been playing for a decade. Couple things I would like to pass down- if you love the lore, you must check out Wooden Potatoes' channel, especially his Lore and Mysteries series. As great a job as Guild Wars 2 does with it's worldbuilding, the first game went WAY harder, so his videos which draw on the perspective of both games are a tempting rabbit hole. Secondly, I would take your time with Heart of Thorns. The maps are a bit tough, but the story kinda rushes through them. I'd try to do the big map event chain at least once in each map when the story brings you there. As much as we like to complain about the maps being hard to navigate, they did do some really great things with them, and you'll miss out if you just burn through the story. That goes for most future content too; they do a good job of making most of the maps really interesting.

I do enjoy falling into KZread rabbit holes lol I'll definitely have to look them up for sure! Thanks for the recommendation ^^ From what people have said, it sounds like the difficulty of HoT might be slowing the progress I make on it. Thankfully GW2 really thrives on exploration lol

@@MegaMadVladMMO and god bless it for that, not nearly enough games, mmo or not, take exploration seriously. as a huge fan of lore myself, im really glad gw2 has done so much with it, though there are some interesting points where things were retconned, forgotten, or otherwise painted over. just trying to piece together the origin of humanity alone is a headache, because they either contradict themselves, or theres massive chunks of the puzzle that havent been revealed yet. as a teaser, gw2 plainly states that the gods first brought humans to Orr, but Orr is a younger nation than both Elona and Cantha. the gods also brought the Forgotten, who youll hear about in the HoT story and beyond, who were active during the previous dragon cycle. if thats true, it means its very possible humans were ALSO active during the previous dragon cycle, and that means were looking at at least ten thousand years of possible human history. Cantha, the oldest known human civilization, has only been around for about 1000 years.

  • @MegaMadVladMMO

@@Anubis1101 Things getting retconned is definitely something that tends to happen with ongoing stories. It's very rare to have anything in media that's ongoing to not have some sort of plot holes or retcons. Those stories are out there, but very hard to find. Most of my experience with the story is through the main questline and some of the meta events. The exploration focus, and lack of side quests in the base game, tend to lead toward a more open and less story gripping focus. A lot of the time, those hearts on the map are people needing you to kill something, or grabbing up items in their very self contained location. They may have an explanation as to why, but it typically only affects them. The experience has still been very fun and every time I see a Skyscale I get more excited for the future of the game lol

@@MegaMadVladMMO i love the quest system. the hearts give you many different ways to approach it, and let you group up organically without having to actually talk to people or organize a party. its genius design that can support different kinds of players. season 2 and onward makes them repeatable too, which gives you more reason to come back to maps or reward you for helping friends. the flavor text when you complete each heart really makes you feel like youre helping them out. they used even have those messages as actual mail that was sent to your inbox, giving it a personal touch. they scrapped that, unfortunately, but i still like to read them on new characters.

Gz on finishing season 2 :D One definite recommendation, given your character is human, is to replay HoT at some point with a Sylvari character instead (having finished S2, you know why) :D Major tip to make HoT easier for you, ALWAYS have a ranged weapon in your second weaponset. Heart of Thorns is a step up from the core game which was not very much of a challange when it came to mobs and such. But it is more about learning the mobs and understand what they will do so that you can adjust your playstyle to work with it. It means tha you can not run in and pull half of the map as you can in the core game, you need to figure the mobs out and go for the real baddie first and work your way through. We all died a lot when we first entered HoT. At the start it was insanely upscaled and to many mobs too close, they nerfed it down and today i think it is really comfortable to run through it. But i do know that some mobs will knock me down and i have to interrrupt them or have a stunbreak with me. Some mobs murder me with conditions so i have to have condi cleanse with me. And then there is the mini raptors. They are mean littel creatures but when you get to know them aoe will be your friend. So don't be scared of the Hot story. As soon as you get to know the mobs you can deal with them and some of them will feel comfortable. But also remember if you go low and dont have anything left, move away and loose by using your skills that fast move you off. Or jump off the cliff and glide away, have saved me many times =)

One reason for Season 1 being harder than Season 2 is when they came out. When season 1 was re-released leading up to the steam launch / 10th anniversary, the mission / encounters were adapted to a game with three powerful elite specializations for each profession, like for example Bladesworn. Season 2 on the other hand, was the last bit of content before elite specializations were added to the game. Just a wild guess without data to back it up though.
