I feared that Hugo was lost forever in some monster tailback reaching far beyond the edge of the map. But he's only been resting some sleepy hollow awaiting the call from Biffa so he can leap into action to cure all traffic ailments.
Loving the detail in this build! The custom recycling center was a nice touch!

This is all the reasons CS2 isn't working out. Fiddly bits. Playing with traffic, getting Hugo back to work... working on industries and growing your city in your way with your choices. Fiddly bits. That is what makes this great.

Very true. It's honestly a surprise and at the same time not. As a long term fan of Pardox I am used to most their games "faking it" when it comes to complex game mechanics and simulations. If you look to close at things like Surviving Mars it has the same fake mechanics that you quickly learn that you can ignore and don't really do anything. That CS 2 could be released and the economy and traffic not even matter was a travesty. Who cares if it looked more impressive if the basic functions of the games didn't do anything.

There's really barely any gameplay in CS2 and it's not hyperbole. It's a city painter where your decisions don't really matter. I haven't tried it yet but I wonder if there's a way to actually go bankrupt on purpose and stay in an economic downward spiral due to bad decisions... like in basically every good city builder. I am not sure it's even possible.

@@Macronaso Hmm I don't think you could really do it without trying real hard. Like Buldozing all your houses, buildings etc and only leaving things up that cost money. I am not sure no matter how high your debt gets if the game will ever do anything about it.

That is my feeling as well - what you do doesn't really seem to matter all that much, money, electricity, water... it all just sort of magically appears without any connection to what you do. Put another way: I played a very long time and then realized I couldn't tell if I was actually doing well or not. It didn't seem to matter.

When you deleted and redrew a chunk of road to fix an inconveniently placed node, I felt compelled to remind you that Network Multitool is pretty handy for that kind of thing. Probably overkill in this instance, but since you've not been playing CS1 for a while, it's easy to forget the tools you've got available.
40:16 looks like a power line disconnected from somewhere between the housing estate (old teaford) and willow square *EDIT* 40:32 you sorted it out

Not sure about the 'faded' London buses. How about a more modern single decker? Great job on the recycling centre/landfill. ♻️

Definitely a lot of British buses on the work shop that would look a million times better than these London Buses. The Optare Solo model Biffa started his last UK series is a good example.

Fantastic to see CS1. It is still an incredible game and still has far more depth and polish than CS2 (not too mention it still has the bigger playerbase).
The best series is back! great episode. I think the tree road looks far better than the bus road , considering the traffic levels, you don't even need dedicated bus lanes anyway. I hope you change it back. Also when are you going to complete that terraced estate, it's very distracting every time you pass it and see all those empty roads without the houses copied on them on them lol.

On the entrance from the highway, when you go from 3 lanes to two, split that third lane off as an entrance into the industry area before the roundabout. This will reduce traffic into the main roundabout .
This just needs to be the main series on the channel, 2-3 videos a week. 😁

Biffa you need a "Park and Ride" when the town gets bigger.
Hi Biffa, nice to have a Cities Skylines vid from you, CC1 or CC2, love them both.🙂Like this build so far, though not keen on the red buses. I think a single decker Arriva or Stagecoach buses would be better, and more fitting the size and style of the build.
You could offset the two bus stops at the shopping centre to prevent "wait forever and three come along at once" scenarios.
I am so glad you are doing a CS1. Can't beat it and your humor comes out big time!! I giggled right thru it and really enjoyed it! 🤩

The streets for the terraced houses are a bit wide! Victorian terraced house streets were narrow, and now have cars parked both sides so it's a real squeeze to get down. Yours are luxuriously spacious! 😂

For the set to height, you needed buildings AND nodes so the roads don’t deform the terrain

as always the amount of small details is amazing!!! also don't forget your network multitool has a plus and minus nodes for removing or adding nodes so you don't have to draw the entire road in again
Traffic from the motorway seems to want to do a 270° to turn left. Looks like resolving that might help a lot with traffic flow
I'm so excited to see CS1 again! You just can't beat the sheer amount of mods and content in the original. I had an idea for a tea related name for the next city or area if you like. Steep Peaks! Or if you wanted a double tea pun Steep Pique lol

CS1 looks great on the phone to watch. The graphics/colours are brighter which shows up better on a small screen
You should add some warehouses near the bus depot and have some buses parked up in a courtyard.

Nice to see that sign for entry to New Teeside, and fantastic refuse collection site you made! Why can't we have something like in the UK? 😆 Do we need parking along the main thoroughfare from the only entry point from the motorway, though? Might need to get that removed - I don't see why people would need to park along there! 🤣 Also, can we see a park put in between the shopping centre and the road running up to the new garbage collection site?

Might need a ped crossing near the last stop you placed. They have to travel all the way to the end of the street to cross otherwise.
So yeah the buildings being at terrain height works great, but before you zone the land you have to say the roads to terrain height first. It looks a load better

So also you can use the parallel tool in the multi tool to place fencing for it to follow your roads better
Thank you for fixing the number of households in the stone terraces! If I remember correctly, there was something funky about the number of households in the high rises as well, very undercounted based off how many balconies there are. But that was a long time ago, and I could be mistaken! 😊

Half of the digger drivers I work with wouldn't hesitate to move a bin/skip/fence/port-a-cabin if it's in the way, the other half will sit there all day waiting for someone else to move it.

Please play more CS1. It’s much better than CS2 at the moment, especially with British mods.
Biffa needs to install the Realtime mod, to give a true test of how well the city can handle traffic (same for New Tealand)
Regarding ploppable concrete: Maybe it's because the brush strength is set to 0?

please Biffa the connectivity between your roads is very bad add more connection to the roads it will help with the traffic especially in place like old teaford you can connect it with the service so it will be easier to serve love you keep the beautiful works

I used to play a ton of CS1, but seeing it with all these mods and DLC makes it look very intimidating... I think I'll stick to CS2 for now, vanilla CS2 still is far better than vanilla CS1 imo 😅

Hello! Loving the new series 😀 is there a Collection in steam of the assets and mods or a list somewhere. I’ve rebooted CS1 and would love to follow again and have one last CS1 city.
As someone living in same neighborhood of municipality maintenance building that include a sorting facility, HQ for trash collection and a bus depo few insights to make it more realistic: 1) the recycling center is missing trash car decals, sea of trash containers (to give out to residents,- your houses mainly single family ones); 2) all vehicle based services have a personal petrol stations and a car was for lorries. That putrid smell of their car washing... 3) They have humongous car park at the back of the building for those lorries/busses and workers. 4) they all have mechanic personal workshops around; 5) They are surrounded by unglamorous industry businesses; 6) Depot for different public transport types are usually the save administrative costs) - as SC1 public transportation is not owned by private businesses, the good ol' communist practices should still be applied 7; I was always confused why no SC game have HQ for electricians, plumbing services, road maintenance,- when they're at work they cause havoc in traffic 8) or municipality building acting as a traffic magnet (f.e. passport or driving license places; tax place; administrative building for everyday requests)

Im no CS2 hater by any means but CS1 with mods blows it out of the water.......i can only imagine how good CS2 will be after the same amount of years and hours spent by the modders and asset creators.

I was trying to figger out how I missed this post, but it's only 11 hours old. Which doesn't answer my question. I'm wondering if in CSL II, Hugo there will be possible. I hope so, The Traffic Manager only controls at the intersection, kinda kills the intent when Mr. Sim changes lanes immediately before the intersection (node), and then dives into another lane immediately after.
