One of the reasons why we love this channel is that it shows the reality- the normality- of being an artist! People who don't do art sometimes don't realize that artists work in communities everywhere; they have real lives, families, and responsibilities. There are too many people who set art-making aside thinking "someday", only to regret it later. All the artists who kept going, and all the ones who started again later in life: You guys are our heroes!

You did the right thing by turning off the power and getting everyone out of the house 🥺 so many people panic and try to put electrical fires out with water and that will not work. Let us know when there is a stove on fire sticker to fundraise for your new stove 😊

Wow that fire sounds pretty stressful. I'm glad you and your family are safe. You did some quick thinking there getting the oven off and everyone out. At the very least now you know about the circuit breaker issue so hopefully that will prevent further problems. I feel like art should be accessible to everyone. So being able to get prints and bundles and such is great. That cosy blubblefly would be adorable as an enamel pin. Happy to hear you will be able to help your mom. I love the respect and care you give for your babies’ privacy! If you ever consider more little moments of them in the future, maybe custom little baby face (or bubble flies?) pictures over their faces, that way we can tell between the two. They are getting so big! So glad everyone is okay and that things are getting fixed. If you all had been close enough my family and I would have helped some with a replacement stove that you could use. The fact the firefighters were kind enough to help remove the burnt stove is incredibly kind and helps make sure nobody else didn’t try turning it on by accident.

Omigosh, what a scare. Glad you are all safe. So glad you had the presence of mind to shut the oven off first before evacuating. Other than the scary part (!) this was a lovely, informative, and cozy vlog. Always a joy.

your art is adorable, we too had problems with our oven years ago, we were in a brand new build, our house was brand new, we put the thanksgiving food in the oven to warm, and we checked just a little bit later, and the whole dinner was ruined for everyone, it was our first holiday in our new home, however, the oven would not turn off, it just kept getting hotter and hotter, it would not turn down, we had to throw the switch in the box and luckily it turned off, but yes, very frightening, so glad you guys are okay.

That's so scary! I'm so happy you guys are OK! I totally understand that feeling. One of my kids cut his head open outside, and it was terrifying. (He was fine eventually and only needed one staple and some children's Tylenol.) I know that's different than a fire, but I imagine it's the same instinct of protect the baby (or babies). Afterwards, I shook for the rest of the day, sobbed sporadically, and was just exhausted. Again, I'm so so glad you guys are OK!

That really sucks about the stove but thank goodness you didn’t have a fire. I’ve gone through that with three kids in the house and it was terrifying. I’m so glad everything was minor considering.

I gave the green house painting I ordered to my mom and she absolutely adored it! I told her the story behind why you made it and that you loved your mom so much that I just knew I wanted to buy it for my mom. She currently has it framed and hanging in her bedroom. It's so wonderful getting to hear the behind the scenes and share in your life. I'm so glad you, your babies, and your house are safe! When I was newly married, I had a new microwave set on fire when I was home alone one day and I had to unplug it while it was on fire to save my apartment. It was such a scary moment, but it can't even compare to going through that while having babies in the house. I had my stove catch on fire a few years ago, and when you showed the stove, I was floored. Ours looked exactly like yours. I can’t remember if it was whirlpool or Frigidaire, but it looked exactly like yours. I’m wondering now if there’s something wrong With the stoves in general. it was scary and luckily my son was there to unplug it and we grabbed a fire extinguisher before it got two out of hand. The fire started in the back just like yours. That is very scary.

OMG, so scary. Glad everyone is safe! I know the anxiety! I was awoken at 5am by the smoke alarm blaring and I literally fell outta bed as my animals went nuts. I rushed around and discovered the stove top on fire! I had left some humming bird food on the stove top (something I've done many, many times) and the gas was on underneath it! The food had turned into charcoal and was merrily blazing away. I tossed the whole pot into the sink and doused it. My alarm is hard wired so the fire department came and I was so embarrassed and so confused as to how the stove turned on! It was while I was cleaning up that I noticed the telltale signs of kitty counter surfing and realized that somehow during the night, one of my cats turned on the stove! Needless to say, I got stove locks so that couldn't happen again!

For my vlog camera I was using a rode mic. The portable one. I forgot the name but it’s like micro pro or something. I can check and message you on IG lol! If I use my main mic equipment it usually picks up their cries 😅

Please mount a fire extinguisher in your kitchen. You can have it tested annually by the fire department and some of them will show you how to use it.
