This is the one Voiceplay song I struggle with purely due to some weird aversion I have to the original that I don’t even know where that comes from either. It’s just one of those songs I really struggle to listen to. But of course Voiceplay rock it. But “it ain’t me” with John pinto is INCREDIBLE!! Happy anniversary!

I have always loved this song but I think this is also my favourite version of this song too. John Pinto's voice is SO beautiful and he is a triple threat: Singer, dancer, Actor... he recently (2022) was in Book of Mormon the National Tour in the USA. Omigosh, happy anniversary. This was one of my mother's favorite love songs, I grew up listening to her Righteous Brothers' record daily, and when I learned piano this was one of the first "real" songs I learned, just for her. I miss her, and this song now brings smiles of my memories of her. She would have LOVED this version.

Congratulations on your anniversary! I hate to say it, but this is one of Voiceplay's covers I like less than most of them. I feel like the guys really got turned into background singers in most of it, and I don't know why. They almost never do that with their guests, everyone gets at least one line to sing. I mean, the vocals are amazing, and John's voice is excellent, but I don't know, I just get a weird vibe from it. Edit: Okay, it still gives me a weird vibe, but I like it better now. And I wish Eli and Layne had gotten a line at least, because Layne's sweet voice would be so good on this song.

Can't say I care for Pinto's highly mannered version, with quirky bits in every phrase. His slide into the very first note is irritating and we are then treated to a series of pointless pauses. He has a lovely voice so why does he need to do this stuff? I wish a capella groups would show a bit more gumption and stop all recording the same songs as all the rest. Austin Brown did a stunning version a few years back (now on 15 million views) but in less than a year Home Free did a very inferior version . Tim Foust has recently defended the band doing the same songs as members' solos but it still comes over as taking advantage of someone else's efforts. Now this one. It continues overdone. I wonder if Pinto is capable of singing a song as it was written? He seems to have fallen into the Phelps trap of decoration and squealing for the sake of it. Geoff sounds lovely.
