Fun Fact: This was a Creepypasta that got fairly popular. Then somebody made a game out of it. Pewdiepie played that game, and that drew traction to the OG story. But, the original Creepypasta was poorly written, and was removed from the Creepypasta wiki. And the creator, JCTheHyena, instead of taking the criticism to heart, threw a fucking tantrum.

I remember, probably when I was halfway through highschool, how it was so common to imagine your favorite beloved characters just going "bad". Didn't have to make sense, the things that could have pushed you off the deep end could be so minuscule, just like it was part of our journey as fans of something to wonder "what would the crazy side of it look like?"

It's nice to see someone taking this game somewhat seriously. I feel like a lot of these creepypastas are very easy to make fun of, but people tend to forget that these projects were very much a product of their time and drastically influenced the direction of online content. Having Ryan play through Sonic.exe and trying to see its positives is a very refreshing experience.

I think what people hate most about EXE was the story behind it. Looking back it aged poorly and brought the actually decent game rendition (The only good part of the whole thing) down with it because of the hate train. I think it would have benefited with a better story.

@@ali-kun7038 It was one of the first that spawned the whole trope. I don't recall any other story/creepypasta having the exact premise. People started doing the trope because of EXE's popularity trying to recreate the same thing which ultimately is why a lot of people hated video game CP's because they all started to sound the same besides BEN Drowned or NES Godzilla. Point I was saying before was that the game version of EXE is the only good part of the whole story including all the fangames like PC port or Spirts Of Hell.

I remember being a 10 year old kid watching Markiplier's game play and legit had nightmares of Sonic.EXE coming to get me 😂 these games are definitely a product of their time since creepypastas were on the rise and you couldn't really prove/disprove the stories, but at the same time watching them is very nostalgic.

This was the biggest throwback video I’ve seen in so long, I can’t believe my favorite KZreadr is finally playing a classic creepypasta game!

It is currently 11:00 and this got uploaded, I’m definitely going to have nightmares and …Well the fist one is… not the best or OG version actually one of the worst versions I’ve seen but it’s the thought that counts, kinda knew these videos would be coming but I’ll support you no matter what Ryan! Also, the remastered version (2nd game) is assuming that you have played or seen the OG version of sonic.exe, as it’s saying things such as “some things never change” and “you’re just as slow as last time”

I hate to be THAT guy, but youre off by a long shot. Sonic.eXe is a creepypasta that follows the protagonist, Thomas Keller, getting a CD in the mail from his friend Kyle, who had been missing for two weeks. Tom plays the CD, and the events occur. Xenophanes/X is not a possessed Sonic, he is a creature that takes the form of him, due to the character being popular along media. Don't believe me? Ask ASTRA, the current owner of the .eXe story.
