@Skylar Phoenix frrr I somehow felt like when Selena made her brand, it was like everything after that by singers would just be flops for some reason. As if it was the last straw and anything else would not be original.

Honestly it’s kind of helpful to see a “failed” eye look. Sometimes it seems like makeup influencers are able to get their makeup to look better than mine because maybe they just have better skin or something. It’s nice to be able to see the difference a bad formulation can make! I can’t imagine you want to do this same look again with these products, but it would be cool to see you do something where you use really good products on one eye and really bad products (or ones that just don’t work for you) on the other eye. Actually a full face of makeup like that would be really cool to see.

@@palestar828 What, how and talent STILL shows through this look but the quality of the products IMO, are crappy. We know she’s a wizardess and has phenomenal skills but I don’t know. The textures? I wouldn’t purchase anything from that line.

@@baileydubs I totally recommend nabla's arrows They've extended the line, I got a black one like a year or two ago and it's THE CREAMIEST I've ever used, although I mostly use it as a base for black shadow when I'm doing a smokey eye

It’s crazy to see a makeup expert “fail” an attempted look , you’re incredibly talented and anyone whose watched you even once would know that so this speaks volumes on the quality of the product

Farzeen Mirza NikkieTutorials says very positive things about some of the products, and less positive about some as well. It’s the only review I’ve watched and I’ve yet to buy anything though lmao but it did get me hooked on lip gloss in general

You can see the crusty area you were referring to & see the eyeliner pulling & they weren’t creamy whatsoever. @@GB-vw6kr Well for me Fenty is very overrated, I don't know for rare beauty as I've never tried them. Fentys eyeshadows are not that great and the foundation on me was by far the worst foundation I've ever tried, it made my skin look super dry and flaky and I don't even have dry skin lol. And to make matters worse I picked a very light shade and I looked like a ghost but thats on me.Their mascara is bomb though. The worst part is that because people idolize Rihanna, when her line came out it was very hard to find an honest review and I got caught up in the hype. All and all fenty is decent for me but nothing life changing like people pretend it to be

For no fault of your own, the eye look was ‘no bueno’. Prime example that artist talent will only go so far. Product quality does matter and as a grown woman, I am not buying makeup just because Ariana’s name is on it.

I had low expectations for this brand, and I’m not surprised it went how it did. Maybe the eyeliners need to be warmed up to use? I’ve known some kohl eyeliners need that, especially when you first open them.

I feel like this was just a cash grab honestly. It doesn’t seem like Ariana at all,when I think of her I think of fun and excitement and the brand just seems so bland. I’m not sure maybe my expectations are just higher because we’ve been so blessed with what we’ve seen from fenty and rare beauty.

Every time I see the REM Eyeshadow palette, It reminds me straight away of the Almay palettes. Like they just look so similar: the size, the layout...I immediately think it's Almay, from the 1st time I saw it. I'm not impressed at all with REM Beauty.

@@just2lovable I think it’s fairly decent. I’m sure it’s not the best, but pixie has the worst pigment. So L’Oréal has been the only one with enough for me to not have to use regular eyeshadow with it.

I have to say I loved the lighting. It gave us a great insight on how things ACTUALLY look like. Even if you don't use filters in a room, natural lighting is much more realistic and also I found the changes of it quite aesthetically pleasing:)

something that might help with the lighting is if you put a white cloth over your window as a diffuser so that there isnt any direct sunlight but you still get the natural lighing effect. also super excited to see you try and recreate the makeup look with other products, hopefully it turns out more successful than this one lol

I just watched an in depth video from a smaller YTer (Sarah Jo) who HATED the line and it was so bad she brought a friend in to verify that she wasn’t being over the top. This stuff not only looks like Claire’a makeup, I guess it performs like it, too. I haven’t seen this epic of a product fail in a looong time! Those eyeliners…it reminds me of when we used to buy the Wet N Wild 99 cent eyeliners back in junior high and had to flick the flame from a lighter over it to get it to perform. Ouch.

It can go really right when it's well done and there's real care and a purpose behind it (Fenty and inclusivity or Rare with disability friendliness), but it can also go really wrong when it's just clear that it's nothing but a cashgrab and a way to take advantage of an industry that moves a lot of money but is also already very saturated.

I'm so glad you posted this as these are the kind of reviews that are invaluable, if a talented artist can't get it to work then I would never stand a chance. Super helpful Alex 💜

It’s crazy because she’s the first person I’ve seen do a somewhat “negative” review.

My fav thing to do with mascaras I can’t return but enjoy the wand is to clean the top component and dip into a drugstore waterproof formula. Honestly sometimes I will even leave them screwed on the mismatched bottle if it fits 🤷🏼‍♀️ Not the cutest but that way I can participate in the cool wand variations of normal mascaras!

Whew!!!! The amount of anxiety this gave me is astronomical!!! Makeup shouldn't be painful!! Those eyeliners remind me of the waxy ass, old school, circa 1980, CoverGirl liners. When I was in high school, I melted the end of it with a lighter to be able to use it😂😂😂

The kohl liner absolutely sucks but the Eyeliner Marker is AMAZING honestly and my new holy grail. The formula is the first I’ve tried that doesn’t budge all day even with my oily and sweaty lids but comes off easily with cleansing balm and the super fine tip of the felt tip makes precision really nice. HOWEVER, it does skip a lot. I hope she comes out with a different tip. Just FYI lol.

The lipstick looks so streaky, maybe the colour, but I can see it bulking up in certain spots. And those liquid shadows, when you put the light one over the copper toned one, it was picking up the copper one and was mixing in and made it so patchy. It almost looks scaly in texture. I couldn’t watch you put the liner in your water line, I was cringing so hard at how rough you had to be to put it on and it still didn’t work great. Also I like the natural light!

How does a make up company mess up a brown eyeliner? Sorry but that tells me enough about the brand and the quality. Thanks for the review I won’t waste my money;)

i really like the natural lighting! it’s more realistic since that’s how i do my makeup, most of us don’t have ring lights to get ready for the day or play around with makeup

The products do seem difficult to work with, so it definitely wasn't you. But, even with difficult products you managed to create a gorgeous eye look. I think it's stunning. It speaks volumes about your inherent talent, that you can make products that aren't easy to use work, and create a fabulous look with them.

I loved how up close, real time this review felt ❤ instantly subscribed! We could see the actual product while applying to your skin, haven’t really seen a review done like this.

Hi! She called it bad because the make-up products were hard to use. She said herself that it looked good, it was just very difficult. She is a skilled make-up artist and she's clearly been doing this for a long time!! Don't beat yourself up, love. You're not doing anything wrong! If it means that much to you to have very lovely looking make-up, then practise!! I believe in you. Don't feel bad 😌

The only thing you're doing it wrong is comparing yourself to a pro make up artist.

That was stressful 😂 Definitely not just you, the products let you down. The lashes rescued the eye look. Makes me wonder what they had to do to achieve the look in the source photo…

idk i got a bunch of products from r.e.m beauty and they were all fantastic lol but it was just an initial launch so maybe that’s why there’s some inconsistency in the products.

She has the best quality and most successful celebrity fragrance line ever overtaking all other celebrity lines combined (who all started their lines years before she did) so it would be silly and unfair for anyone to assume that her makeup brand would be bad. It is not. Many reviewers are saying that some of the products are excellent (lipsticks, highlighters, eye liner pen, lashes, lip glosses, eyeshadow palettes etc). Let's watch this space to see what she does in the future with this line, before dismissing this new enterprise altogether.

The natural light was really beautiful-I wonder, could you film w natural light and a lower intensity light(for a consistent light source)? Would that work at all? Bc the sunlight was sooo flattering on you

I love that you filmed this, very close up - I was able to see exactly how the product behaves. I always get annoyed when beautubers film make up reviews from far away - I can never see whats happening! Also, youre gorgeous, love your videos :)

So, you have a celebrity name, and you want to make some extra bucks. You find a cheap lab, create ? a product out of the cheapest stock, and push it on the market with a high price. The only trouble is: the quality will show immediately.

Seriously thought I was some kind of stupid with my eyeliner application. For the life of me I couldn’t apply to my waterline much less pull off a wing. Your face when the white eyeliner broke off…I’m still laughing. You have it such a great shot…I would have thrown it all in the garbage can! Your Vision was so amazing, what a bummer that the products sucked so hard. You are a rockstar for getting through it! I think maybe Ariana should stick to singing. I like lashes too. If I wear lashes now it’s just the singles/triples. Still, those lashes really are beautiful.

This brand was floppy, I understand she has more chapters but that doesn’t mean her first chapter was like a ‘trial’. It’s an official part of the brand, and so will the rest of the products be. With her influence and the hype she got her fans and buyers deserved better. It’s a rip off of Claire’s tbh. I see some similarities in Almay’s products. Didn’t even know that brand before but now that I do it rlly does make sense.

Huge Arianator, currently waiting on my order, and now have a reference on the do’s and don’t’s - so thank you. BUT brands aside, all I know is that the white liner on the bottom inner lower lash line with the brown under it looks sick and sultry af…I can’t stop staring at the effect it has on your eyes. Def gonna try that soon! (Lid liner is fire too, but I don’t have the coordination to even think about trying it 😅)

Well, this is what I expected from REM Beauty. If you want to show us some looks with the About-Face Fractal Eye Paints, though…I would not be mad. I have a bunch of them (and I have all of the matte ones) and I haven’t really figured out how to incorporate the fractals into my looks yet. You’re the only person I’ve really seen use the AF eye paints WELL. It just brings me joy.
