So Harrowing It Made Me Upset | Jamaican watches All Quiet On The Western Front | Netflix | Reaction

Ойын-сауық

Hey all,
This video is a reaction to the 2022 Oscar-nominated film which is a remake of the 1930 Oscar-winning version based on the 1929 novel of the same name by Erich Maria Remarque.
War breaks out in Germany in 1914. Paul Bäumer and his classmates (Ludwig Behm, Albert Kropp, Franz Müller) quickly enlist in the army to serve their fatherland. No sooner are they drafted than the first images from the battlefield show them the reality of war. They're in league with Stanislaus "Kat" Katczinsky and Tjaden Stackfleet.
Join me on this watch. This has spoilers so if you haven't finished watching it yet, please do not watch this video. I'll be talking about the movie and my reaction in spoiler detail. As always, let me know what you think in the comments!
Enjoy.

From the original book: "He fell in October, 1918, on a day that was so quiet and so still on the whole front, that the Army report confined itself to a single sentence: "All quiet on the western front". He had fallen forward and lay on the earth as though sleeping. Turning him over, one saw that he couldn't have suffered long; he had an expression of calm, as though almost glad the end had come."

Hello Xavier, many thanks for your good and objective assessment of this film. As a german man, I'm very proud and thankful that so many people like this film and that they share their german soldats fate. They are fates that all warring nations of this world share and have experienced and are experiencing. Bad enough that a soldier dies in a war no matter which nation he belongs to. It is always the same. It does not matter where he comes. I read the novel by Erich Maria Remarque and this novel made a deep impression on me. He lived in Berlin I think. He himself was a soldier in the first world war and reported authentically about it. Later the german nazis burned the book because they knew exactly how explosive it was. The novel is against the war, not for the war. That is the most important message for all nations. We germans have learned from it and know very well what war means. No german wants more wars, anywhere. Best regards from Berlin / Germany...Oliver

German soldiers would sharpen the edges of their shovels and use it over the bayonet because their bayonets would often get stuck in the first person they stabbed with it and generally it was easier to swing around in the trenches.

Information: Erich Marie Remarque (22.6.1889 as Erich Paul Remarque in my hometown osnabrück) was in 1 worldwar. He wrote about His experiences as soldier and from Others. The book ist best sold German book. A serbian Guy Shot austria-hungary Prince. They started war and called theire Allies. Thats how war began. Germany was very succesful but then had to Fight against many enemies on many fronts and Situation was getting worse so decided to search for Peace. The Last Attack was six hours before end by USA. Last soldier died under Special circumstances two minutes before end. On real Videos you can hear firing slowly ending at the end Like Thunderstrom. Germany paid a high price. Country was in Bad conditions after war so people wanted New Leaders and to make country great again. Nationalism grow and there was a New Leader called Adolf Hitler in 1933

Thank you for your real react…✨🌺 and glad that you watch it in original German sound, it gives the movie a special note in my opinion. this is an truly anti war movie. I hope it helps to understand that war is not the way for a future as a human being for all of us. We have so many wars in this world. When will this horror ends. We do this stuff to our self’s till this days. 😢

Heinrich had the trench shovel because, in the book, it is mentioned that it was sharper than a bayonet and sometimes more effective as bayonets would sometimes get stuck and it would be hard to pull them back out again. It was a nod to the book.

I recommend reading the book, because in this film they took some liberties and changed some things. Because they could.

tbf remarque also took some liberties and changed things in his book, basically also because he could. so, at the end of the day the movie might not be an exact retelling of the book, but it's pretty close to what remarque did himself.
