I have a really solid collection of guitars. Several thousand dollars worth of em. Of all of them, my favorite is a 1978 Harmony VA Phantom that my pops ordered out of a J.C. Penny's or Sears catalog. It was made in the Matsumoku factory during the lawsuit era. This thing is an absolute beast of a guitar. It came with original L500 pickups wound by Bill Lawrence himself. I pretty much exclusively use that guitar for slide work since the neck has warped to the point the fretboard needs to be removed and the neck leveled. It's easily cranks out the best leads of any guitar I've heard. Sustains for long enough you could take the guitar off, make a PB&J, eat it then wash it down with a cold glass of milk, and come back to the note still ringing out. Don't sleep on Japanese made guitars. Don't believe me, I dare you to pick up a high end Yamaha!

I got a Japanese strat in 1994, it was literally a chance purchase. I didn’t look at where it was made. Same lake placid blue finish. A guy was selling it to a guitar shop in london, I heard it from the street and came in to see what it was as it sounded amazing. The shop offered him 120 pounds for it. I told him give you 150 and the shop guy said I’ll match that. So just said is 200 ok? He went yup deal done. My son plays it at the moment both of us think it is the best Strat we have ever played. Better than any custom shop. Only difference is mine has a maple neck. One the best guitars I have ever bought. Still not as good as my 1971 law suit SG with P90s bought new even though I could of had a fender or Gibson. I still have gibsons and a fender but the Strat and SG I still reach for first before the expensive stuff. Nice video thanks.

Sounds really good! Seeing how the Limb Lifter dude had basically a Partscaster, it makes me wonder if you couldn't get a Classic Vibe 60s Strat and just upgrade the electronics (and pickups if necessary) to get basically the same thing, but maybe for cheaper.

I got a cheap Squier strat and upgrading to Classic Vibe baby!!!!! let's gooooo. A local luthier (guitar guy) finds guitars and sets them up and sells them cheap. Got a Squier HSS strat for $85 with no scratches anywhere. Love it! I wish it was light basswood tho. Found a 2000 MIC Squier strat with little amp for $50 on FB!!!! It also had no scratches at all. I micro scratched it using a paper towel. That is how mint it was. It was super heavy and the serial number was on a sticker. So after sitting in a closet for 22 years. I sold it for $140 to a guy who is just starting out. So now i'm hooked on FB marketplace :)

Lucky 4 me my good friend Steve sold me his '02 american texas special strat last year for a very reasonable price(much cheaper than used market) Anyway, I removed the back trem cover because it had an aged pearloid pickguard that looked shitty and I replaced immediately lol. It seemed dumb to pay for a matching back plate when most people remove them anyway! I sold both the plates back to Steve.

I own a 2021 MIJ 60's Traditional Strat in Sonic Blue, bought from Thomann last year. It's very similar to yours, as the nut string spacing is narrower as the EU/AM models. Vintage Trem bridge 6-point, Rosewood slab, truss rod end at the base of the neck. The U-shape neck is my absolute favorite feature about this guitar, as I have relatively large hands. The pickups are louder than my Maxican Strat. The other thing i noticed right away and needs "adapting" are the vintage frets, narrow and small. I like them. I can dig in without getting the note out of tune. What I find super funny is that each and every time i pick it up, i play a John Frusciante opening riff and my GF gives me *that* look.... "it sounds like the real thing".... i giggle.

Been looking at guitars from Japan for the last couple years. The comment about being crazy for risking an online buy from Japan through Reverb is why I haven't actually ordered one yet. I think if I had a fairly wellknown KZread channel I'd take the gamble too. My other concerns were the possibility of getting stuck with a lemon I can't return, or have to pay to return.

They are about same price, trad 60s even bit cheaper, and i cant decide which one to buy, because i dont know which would be better in quality, last years guitars from mexico was awesome, maybe same with japan, or opposite, maybe 2008-2012 will be better. Particular exemplar of traditional 60s strat has a darkest fretboard that i've seen in my whole life, thats honestly the main reason why im thinking.

Nice video ! Recently got a 96 Japanese Strat 62 reissue which is great. Needed a new neck tone pot and I got the second tone pot modded to work on the bridge . Would recommend anyone to check out Japanese fenders . Big snag on Landon’s guitar for me would be the U shaped neck , not a fan . Mines is a 7-5 radius and feels like an old Strat , job done 😀
