I concur. Ren is simply beyond most singers, rapper, musicians, performers. One he doesn’t repeat himself even though there are connected themes. There are other who are beyond in different ways but my favorite song from Ren is the one I am currently listening to. I also like the music in REN’s spoken word. One you hear it it is just there.

Ren's rap hits hard because he uses his voice as another instrument. His voice is not just TALK or Mumble Rap, it is lyrical. Ren is a bard in the truest sense. Ren has ELELVATED rap to the next level. From this point forward all rappers will be playing catch up... Witness the RENaissance! RENegades Rise.

His lyrical use of double entendres is amazing, "’I'm heavy, I’m Mercury, I am Freddy,..." Mercury being a HEAVY metal, Freddy Mercury....😵‍💫 C'MON! Even the title is a double entendre - "Illest of our Time". He's firing warning shots in this one and making sure everyone takes notice. Nice to see him showing some attitude and confidence, being a little braggadocious. I Love it. He did a live stream right after the video dropped yesterday (on Twitch), and to see his genuine, emotional reaction to how many reaction channels had already posted videos within an hour of the songs release, was truly heartwarming. This young man deserves every bit of love , support, and success he's finally getting. I couldn't be happier for him, especially for someone so talented, so driven, and without question, someone who has been forged through fire. Love this kid! Fan for life.

"Illest of our time" unofficial lyrics.... yeah I'm that sad I spent an hour going over & over typing them out for you 1, 2 , 3, spitting bullets on the beat, I’m a sick little puppy who get’s lucky when he speaks, Blessed with a silver tongue Chest with an Iron Lung, Extra Terrestrial, Tentacles, Alien, Psychopathic tendencies, A pathologic entity, If everything is set in stone, then this is how it’s meant to be, Elementary dear Watson, you might find, Yourself inside the mind of the illest of our time, Get it boppin hot rockin, I’m Freddy Kruger, I’m choppin, I turn it up to (elle-heaven) 11, The demigorgon of oppin, The strangest thing I’m the boss when, the danger lingers, I’m plotting, Sweet like a spoonful of sugar, Because I’m Mary like Poppins, The double barrell is cocking, A shotgun shell to the noggin (head) I’m crafting catchy bronchitis, You’re in your funeral coffin/coughin, No stopping, blocking me, not when I pick the world up, I’m squatting, And when I take from the rich? I’m in your hood & I’m Robin/Robbing 4, 5, 6, Better Crucifix/Cruise a fix, 666 flow, Crucify a Catholic, Maverick, anti-hero, villain or protagonist, words are kind of muffled, when you’re sucking on my massive ughhh… Who’s the fucking illest, who’s the realist, who’s the baddest kid? call the police, on this beat before I damage it. A kiddie called Screech on the streets, I’m a masochist, so far from reach, I’m the type to kill a pacifist, Catalyst? Or Chemical Combustion? I’m the analyst, Of metaphors and similes and synonyms, An alchemist, Evangelist, Spread the words I seek, like they’re cancerous, Pragmatist, I think before I speak, Then I answer it, Pull up, pull up, pull up to the place, when I pull it bang, my bullet sang, it’s shot right into space, Music for the hooligans, let loose on the estate, Call the police & the riot vans, the people wanna play, ay.. Freedom now, has lost all meaning how, can we all be free, in the hierarchy breeding ground, The poor get poorer while, The rich get rich in style, I’ll be a heretic, kill a king, take his crown, Top of the throne, top of the kingdom I own, top of the streets that I roam, Top of the dome, spitting for Britain I’ve shown, Bars a cellular phone, Hyping, like Tyson, an Icon, roll twice and Left righting, I’m striking, like I’m biting, Like a python, Ready, I’m heavy, I’m mercury, I am Freddie, So eat my words, fill your belly, like alphabetty spaghetti, I am a rap star, don’t believe me? the facts are, I spit fast like a Nascar, Don’t believe me? Then fuck yaaah, I- -Shit… I don’t feel so well, I don’t feel so well, I don’t feel so well, call a medic for myself. I don’t feel so hot my brother, aching shaking, stop, then stutter, things go wrong, hit by King Kong, a Swanton Bomb like Hardy Brothers, I don’t feel so fresh my bro, things look blurry, speaking slow, Heading Hong Kong, Wonton Soup is, what I have for brains I know- -That I, want to spread these tattered wings- and hold them high, banished from the Heavens, but I’m knocking on the sky, Living with depression is a blessin in disguise, never second guessing intuition, getting wise, Want (one to) to sink into the pupil of my eye, Travel to the corner of my cornea & mind, Look for all the answers that I never seem to find, Till then, I guess I’m still the “Illest of our time”

Just want to drop a huge thanks for bringing such deep and superbly explained knowledge to us. A few years ago a bad strep infection did some very real damage to my vocal chords and I lost most of my range and all of my ability to do anything but sing (would hardly call it singing to be honest) in “straight lines”. I had to stop singing for a long time and it felt like I was being mentally suffocated. I’ve healed now but my voice is not the same as it used to be. I actually like my tone of voice better now, but it’s like I’m learning to play a completely different instrument. Your knowledge and way of sharing it really helps me out when exploring how to interact with these new strings I’ve acquired. I especially like when you analyse Ren because it also inspires me in my job, which includes a lot of public speaking and having to grab and keep people’s attention. Before a speaking gig I always listen to some of his songs and I get so pumped and inspired just by hearing his vocal acrobatics. Since I started applying things you discuss on this channel to my speaking, people have started giving me feedback telling me how they enjoy listening to me waffling on and my sometimes weird theatrics. So thank you again! Hopefully, I’ll be able to apply all this to my singing soon too.

@Chris Liepe what I have noticed about Ren is he paints outside the Lines, Musically Speaking! If you look at Hip Hop, Pop, or whatever Genre of Music they are all basically the same! They sing/their music is inside that box (inside the lines)! What makes Ren so great he doesn't do that, he bends the Genres and everything to do with to make his own Picture outside the lines! Nothing like Ren in the Music World today! I hope the Music Industry is taking a good look at Ren and his music! Ren is the future! People are tired and bored of their factory music!

Saw it an hour after it came out, but his stuff, like so many artists I love, truly requires multiple listens to catch all the layers. Amazed at his works, and amazed at the speed of your post with the reaction video, thanks! If I may request a tune or singer break down for the future, I am a huge fan of Cedric Bixler-Zavala, specifically his work with The Mars Volta. He blows me away with his melodies and harmonies and he just seems so different than most singers to me, and I would love to see a good breakdown on him, and for my money "Twilight as My Guide" might be my favorite performance by him. Brilliant reaction, AGAIN Chris. Yeah, it seems, to me, that Ren has every musical, lyrical and rhythmical base ( unintentional pun ) covered ... regardless of the " style " he uses to express himself. I have said it since the first few Ren video's I watched ; he uses his voice as an instrument. Whether it is a wind instrument, a stringed instrument or an electronic instrument. In this case his voice is almost synth like ( of the kind Kraftwerk, Yellow Magic Orchestra or John Foxx employed back in the late 70's / early 80's ) but, with that inimitable humanness. As if that wasn't enough, he weaves his lyrical prose into the soundscape with so much ease and musicality. His choice of words are incredible. His understanding of rhythm, syllable and inflection is nothing short of masterful. I totally " get " your reference to Michael Jackson, he did indeed have a similar approach to the " spoken word " it was never monotone. Your reaction video's are always educational Chris and your passion is addictive. Thanks brother.

I just noticed that he put a reference to "Screech's Tale" in this Track, which makes me think that we just saw a scene of Screech's life. He did this in "Hi Ren" as well with the Sea Shells from "Money Game part 2". Or was the evil Side mocking the viral Eminem - Sea Shell Meme ?! I got questions. Ren's Rabbit hole is sooo deep. ^^
