Soaring pilot extraordinaire Dan Rihn does a Tech Review of the new LXNav - HAWK Vario. Why is this newest vario so special and should you open you wallet and add this to your glider panel?

Thank you for the presentation. I’m also a Gen 3 LX9000 owner with limited panel space. I’m looking at total replacement, standalone S10/100 and the Stefly Larus system; so this talk was extremely useful. BTW, a new LX9000 Powerflarm Hawk here in the U.K. is £8100. That’s $10,205 US! 😢
My understanding is that you need the later generation LXs have additional hardware; several IMUs and temperature sensors. Has anyone tried or considered the Larus? The Larus, particularly the two GPS antenna version, theoretically should be more accurate and reliable. It definitely worked for Stefan Langer in the WSGP final. There are issues with carbon glider installation for the two vario machines. The two antenna version should be better on the final glide.
In the U.K. we are now inundated with windmills. I wonder if it is possible to upload a live windmill wind feed? 🤔
Excellent presentation Dan! Very well done!
