Kyle Cope went up the hill, got totally stuck, then had to get a different truck and go around the long way South East. The wheals on that thing were spinning but it wasn’t fuck all. Like dragging 2 tons of dead weight across a lake and up a hill.

if you bring a van body addon and some fuel and repair it so when you winch it, it will also spin its tires

@@elldarion91 could be solved if he put both vehicles in high gear. But then again, going fast on those bridges isn't the brightest idea. You could argue to put both vehicles in low+, but some vehicles doesn't have that option.

I very much agree. I understand it's harder to test because driver input comes into play which can change from run to run. Still I'd love to see tests that compare a trucks stability between setups. Raised suspension vs Stock, for instance. Stock Scout 800 vs Scout 800 with roof rack and all that fuel load as another example. Either way, props to @SD1One for the work he's been doing.

an advantage of the Fleetstar is that it can mount a small Crane, a Flatbed and haul Trailers at the same Time. the WWS can't do that. i own both, mostly because i love the look of these Trucks

That must work with the Flatbed and not the Sideboard bed, because I've tried hauling trailers with crane and sideboard bed and it doesn't work. The bed hangs off the back of the truck.

@@panther-nk2hn The sideboard bed and crane is my default fit on the International, and I've pulled everything from fuel and repair trailers to log trailers with it ... across most terrains.

My father had 4 2070A Fleetstar's back in the 80's. Two red and one white tandem's with Barko pulp loaders. The fourth 2070A had an identical paint scheme to the one shown in this video, that particular truck had the third axle with a Barko loader as well. The truck at first had the loader mounted at the rear of the frame, but after awhile was switched to mounted behind the cab.

I found that the international has a bit of an issue hauling trailers because of the shape of its frame but you get it so early in the game that it's invaluable until you unlock the western star. Despite all its quirks it's earned itself a special place in my heart, But that difference in tire size really does change the game 45 versus 47 what a big difference 2 inches makes.....that's what she said.

The biggest factor that makes me choose the WWS is the stability. I've had the IS flip way too many times and rarely on the WWS.

I found the reverse - the WesternStar carrying medium logs is one of the tippiest trucks in the game, but early game it's the only truck viable for a medium log bed and medium log trailer - you have to use the winch a lot (sideways) to prevent tipping.

It's great to see you post snowrunner content just like you used to post Mudrunner content!

Fleetstar has advantage of equipping flatbed and loading crane while still being able to pull a trailer. Whitestar isn't long enough to do that.

@@radieroslaw It's that red twin steer one you can buy. Can't recall the name. Point is the the fleetstar is one of a handful of trucks that can do that. And she doesn't get recognition for it. Because honestly it might be a tad slower than others. But I've never gotten it stuck in Michigan after fully upgraded.

Considered changing from the Fleetstar to the WWS and with the stability test this confirms it...I'm just constantly tipping over with the Fleetstar, especially in the quarry. Thankyou for sharing, this video was super helpful 🤙

All tests were very thorough and well conducted, The stability test was my favorite.

I like that bridge test you did near the end to see how the centre of gravity compared for both trucks. Interesting how the Fleestar tipped over, because I've had that happen to me too many times to count and I think that might be one of it's most underrated issues. Still a good truck though, and great video by the way

Thank you for adding the stability test. This to me is one of the WWS's assets you don't see on paper. Maybe along with the bridge find a road cutout or a steep hill and drive along side it. Thanks for the video.

I love the stability test. It drives home the reason why I went Western Star, everything else would roll over. Soft shoulders and the sides of mud holes would constantly tip every other truck.

Fleetstar will always stay in my garage as it pulled me through Michigan where it did 90% of tasks, but the WWS is definitely an upgrade. Chassis on the Fleetstar is too long for Semi Trailers, but it can use crane + bed + trailer, so for certain missions it's still super useful.

I don’t know why but the horn blowing at the end cracks me up every single time 🤣. Nice video.

I have been playing SnowRunner alot lately and just had to come here to comment the White Western Star is a beast. Underrated truck. It's a heavy duty but is almost an off-road truck with its capability and good stability.

Have the same experience , WWS is my main truck and the international is my support vehicle. WWS is a very underrated truck.

I’d recommend navistar vs tayga. Also I think that the stability test is a good idea

Tayga has the best looking mud wheels and tyres in the game, i wish more had that option, I went to taymr just to rescue it and brought it back to the USA, 1 more level and i can put the crazy fucking mud tyres on it.

Yeah the tayga for me has been my go to.almost regret getting it so early as I feel it's almost superior in its class untill later on in the game

This popped up in my recommendations after I started a Hard Mode playthrough. I'm not using any mods and I'm playing the maps in order so I can't run to Taymyr for the Tayga. People tend to blow off these early trucks, but the Fleetstar has really impressed me with its' capability and the Western Star is just a brute. I've been really careful not to flip either one and I haven't gotten into anything yet where I even needed to rescue either of the trucks. (Aside from one instance where I was too busy thinking about the next contract and drove past my fuel truck in Island Lake and ran out **facepalm**) Great stuff, mate. Thanks for all your videos!

Great testing! pretty much the same result as "felt" by me during the game. The bumpyness is the reason, why i dont use high suspension on the fleet - better danger of getting stuck (you've got a winch) than flipping over

I love the stability test! A very useful test would be to chek when a Vehicle rolls over on its side. Fot that, just make a street that gets more and more tilted, and see which vehicle can get further!

The Western Star has both a wider wheelbase and longer frame (not covered), it is not just about tires. 25 year+ veteran offroad experienced driver

The Black Knight is managed to find the lift kit and I was using the 55 inch all terrain tires since those were the most advanced ones a could use at the time it probably was because of the length that kept getting me hung up and having to use my winch for the deepest muddy areas, I’ve got the whole manoeuvring with long or wide vehicles routine worked out. It’s just finding out which vehicles work best and where to use them now. Plus it’s the first spin tyres simulator I’ve played since I’m on ps4 so I’m all ears on advise.

Flips easier depending on height of body height of lift and height of wheel I flipped all over and everywhere until I put the same style just smaller tire on

I was surprised that the Fleetstar was _this_ good when I got it. AWD, lockable diff, etc. I freaking love it!

There are tons on them right around where i live in the north east, i drove a 1963 fleet star, harvesting potatoes, and a guy just up the road ownes a one he uses for a car hauler still to this day his is sick straight piped with a 6v71 twostroke Detroit diesel it screams

Nice inclusion of that stability test!

Also something worth noting: some trucks have a slightly bigger/heavier front bumper. I don't know yet if smaller tyres affect it's height, but it's possible for trucks to get stuck due to the bumper scraping against the ground. This happens most on the mud pit test. Heavy cargo seems to affect it as well.

So I accidentally came across the Royal Bm17 when I was stoned off roading in scout 800 in Alaska north port..best.truck.ever. Thing is a beast on mud tires and the stock engine has pulling power and uses very little fuel. I sold my fleetstar pretty quickly

These two trucks are my workhorses, I haven't gotten too far into the game but these two are great all rounders

I love and concurrently use both of these trucks, I feel like the "heavy duty" class of trucks is the best all arounders. But you gotta love the looks of the western star!

I used the Fleetstar for the entire Michigan campaign. Once upgraded it was quite a workhorse and I just kinda grew fond of it. It could also be used some in Alsaka since it has chains but I found it to be too painful for practical purposes.

You should do these test on all trucks and give them points 1-10, then make a list of every different class and rank the vehicles. So when you’re done it’s easy to tell what trucks have been tested and how they compare to others

The White Western Star was my main truck until I unlocked and upgraded the Tayga w/ the raised suspension and 51" specialty mud tires. The Royal BM17 is a close second though! Haven't had much time with the Freightliners yet, but they seem to be more specialized.

I started with the Fleetstar and I still use it but once I got the Western Star it became my go to truck. Love your comparisons. ... J

@@TDILMAN100 you can pull semi trailers on the high and low saddles but you cant add a flatbed with a crane and pull non semi trailers with the WWS. It's strong no matter what it pulls. I like the old girl. ... J

In favour of Fleetstar: it is shorter, so more maneuverable, upgrades are available sooner and it has no problem with connection of the the trailer when crane and cargo is on, in opposite to White Western Star. Great video in my opinion, keep it up!

im running fleetstar atm in alaska and further on because of "hard mode". its kinda fun, since its a really tough truck to use in serious conditions and it wants to tip over all the time so every line you take is important. new trucks just plow trough it all without you having to think of it.

White Star has been a good vehicle to use so far for me where others have failed its proved to be superior , still early days for me in the game but its been a good vehicle to start with once you have fished it out of the pond

It depends on what you're doing. I use the western star for semi trailers and I just have a flatbed on the international

TheCrazyOtter yep i do the same thing because the international is to light for semi trailers and the gearing on the white pisses me off some times so I usually use the international more.

Stability test is great! I kinda regret that I've sold Western Star but on second map without all unlocks it was just way worse than my maxed Fleetstar, gonna buy it back as soon as I will find all unlocks for it

In the mud pit, something that helped the western star was it’s longer wheelbase.

Out of the classic old type trucks I like the step 310e. with the best motor upgrade it is so fast, flys through early maps easy.

@SD1ONE might i suggest doing the stability test with the fuel tank add on, as it seems to make the largest difference in making a truck more top heavy, and then instead of changing the bridge angle left to right, do an increasing bridge angle to one side and see who can get the furthest down the bridge, speed is not the issue so you can go as slow as is required to stay on the bridge, and the one who gets further before tipping wins, could also do angled ground like you find at times that can tip a truck. a very stable truck would make it down the whole course, but that should be rare

did all tasks and missions in michigan with just these two trucks :) and ck1500 for scout

I pick the Western Star, had it going through wheeldeep mud, with the ramped flatbed and 4 lots of wooden planks on the trailer, due to the game annoyingly unloaded the truck first... With help of off-road tires, difflock, AWD and winch I got it through.

Looks like someone's got a bit of a preference. I've always used the Fleetstar for smaller deliveries, especially when completing the jobs in Black River. You'll get better at driving the Fleetstar with practice and start to pick up the pace while driving down familiar roads, and that's when you appreciate the fact that the center mass of the truck is a lot higher and that the body of the truck is thinner. It means you can take corners a little more sharp while at higher speeds, it's actually quite fun to rip around with a Fleetstar on tarmac. It's true that there's more chance of the truck tipping over unfortunately.

Yes, I have a preference and out of two I prefer drving fleetstar but that doesn't mean I closed eyes on its shortcommings....Its balance is off and White western is just better in most aspects if not all.

Another great vid! Couldnt you do a test with the Azov 64-131?

Guess I need to go back and test these 2 out. First chance I got I sold each to get a paystar and the AZOV 64131. I've got end game stuff now but once a friend picks this up I know which will serve him best for a bit

Soul of Cinder I’m still struggling, I keep getting stuck in some rocks that are too narrow for both trucks to turn properly, which side hills are you talking about?

I'm over 30 hours in, and while I thought the fleetstar was a drag at first, being slow and getting stuck easilly, I have found it to be one of the most useful trucks in the game. Once it's fully upgraded, it almost doesn't feel slow, and I have gotten more work done with that truck than any other truck by far. I highly recommend chasing down the upgrades early on, especially the Westline V6

A comparison between the Western star and and the Cat 680 would be interesting, their stats are very similar
