Snowmobiling Across the Ice Bridge to Mackinac Island!
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
We finally got to ride the snowmobile's across the Ice Bridge to Mackinac Island and it was a great trip!! We've been talking about taking this trip for a couple years now but the timing never worked out right since it's only open while the ice is thick enough to cross and most years it's not open long. These wasn't much snow so we had a couple overheating issues but nothing that a quick break wouldn't fix. It was awesome going around the island on the snowmobile's and checking everything out in the winter season. If you've ever thought about taking this trip we highly recommend it, definitely a trip to add to your bucket list!

Oooo! I always wanted to do that!!! I didn't know you could go on the island! You lucky guys! I can't believe that open water! I snowmobiled when I was in my 20's. We had a cottage at Houghton Lake so we went up every weekend for 5 yrs. Enjoying your videos!! I'm 68 now.. I have arthritis in my knees. I think I got it from snowmobiling cause my knees were always freezing. I'm subscribing!

Did this trip from home (Alpena area) a few years ago, it was pretty sick. I didn't know at the time they allow sleds to drive on the island, seeing sleds riding and parked on the streets like cars was pretty sweet.

It was warm a couple days ago. The trails are full of ruts and ice👎
Glad you had enough time to talk about the cover...any updates about that?
Good video, but you wouldn't catch me dead on a lake on a sled. The idea of the ice breaking is terrifying...100 ft or more of cold dark water to the bottom.... I've been to the island probably half a dozen times over the years, I'm a pilot, so we always flew in.
So how many miles to the island,really cool video guys, when did you ride this.
@MichiganOutlaws
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! We rode this last weekend, pretty sure it’s about 4-5 miles to the island
Vehicles are not allowed on the island except sleds in winter and they do have a airport in the middle of the island. In the summer your " trail" is a paved road all around the island. I've even seen some fools actually make it across from Mackinac city across the open channel the coast guard keeps for freighters in the winter. I've also seen it where the tree line was just hours from completely melting
My xp 800 would heat up real fast too, with no scratches on hard pack couldn’t go far lol

It was awesome! It was probably around 25 miles or so because we went around the island twice. We didn't see any so I'm guessing they are not allowed

@MichiganOutlaws

i gotta question what would have happened if all the ice just broke ?
@MichiganOutlaws

If it broke up while we were on the island then we probably would have had to pay for a boat or something to take us and the snowmobiles back across

You just replied to a local! To further clarify. We dont like it advertised. Its primary purpose was/is for locals to access the mainland when needed & because we see anuf of our own die witch is why if you ask those with knowledgege your usual response will be "its never safe" . Its why you never see videos like yours or actual dvds and such produced by us. Please understand i dont say these things as hate tords your channel. Its just the safty issue & the losses of our own people that keep us from advertising it ourselves. Yrust me outside of that aspect of it we love the business.
@jharney99

It literally a frozen lake, it’s not “meant” for anything 😂 the locals don’t have ownership or power over who can/can’t ride on it
We’re just kind of going slow you’re really ruining the trails the way you guys takeoff. A lot of hard work goes into keeping the trails nice. I’m not trying to be a jerk I’m just dropping a tiip
