Rachel Zegler has not only caused trouble for Disney's Snow White, but her attitude isn't new and caused trouble on West Side Story as well. West Side Story was supposed to be about fixing the mistakes of the past, but when you listen to those people, they were not impressed with the casting either. What's interesting is that we have interviews talking about both West Side Story and Snow White together. In these same interviews, we get both the opinion that it's important to accurately represent the culture and people involved in the story, and not when it comes to Snow White. Now it's normal for people to hold different morals and values, but they are generally a coherent world view that shouldn't contradict itself. Not in this case. What started as a simple watching an interview turned into a sinkhole that kept getting worse. But now I'm not surprised over Snow White, because underneath it all, it seems to be the same reasoning. It's whatever increases the bank balance. But what do you think of what you saw? Let me know your thoughts down below and as always, thanks for watching :)

The original snow white was a great story, the wicked queen/step mom was jealous of how everyone loved snow white, amd she thought it was because of her beauty, but it was how nice she was to people, the original snow white would be a great story today and it tells that no matter how you look, all that matter is how you treat people. Rachels snow white that shes putting off, sounds like she's more of the wicked queen than the original snow white, all about be that girl boss by yourself, which is exactly what the wicked queen wanted in the original to have all the power, great job Rachel on literally making snow white the bad guy

Y'know, there's a reimagining of snow white called mirror mirror and I feel like it's everything that Disney want their snow white to be but it'll never be that good. Snow white is kind and caring and wants to make life better for the people of her kingdom. The dwarfs are actual dwarfs, but are all unique fully fleshed out characters, and they actually trick the male lead multiple times, and that's not to say the male lead isn't good. I don't think we need to get rid of the dwarves to make it better to be honest. I don't think Disney's interpretation of dwarves at the time was wrong, but we've come to associate dwarves with little people, especially in acting. So I think they would have to change the depiction like they did in mirror mirror. I love how they wrote the dwarves in mirror mirror because not only are they fully fleshed out, they aren't ashamed of who they are. They're strong, capable characters and they didn't have to diss the original story or get rid of the dwarves to make them better. For the most part mirror mirror follows the important beats of snow white, but it makes little changes in certain spots that I think add to the story. You guys should really check it out?

The part about dwarves being associated with little people is so sad and unfortunate. Dwarves are a big part of european folklore, especially in the north. They are mythical fairytale beings and at majority iirc show a good natured and strong character. Just the fact that they (mostly) take this away to be more "diverse"...it is outright disrespectful to the european folklore. You can't show this amount of disrespect and justify it by saying it isn't towards POCs or something. Racism goes on both directions.

She even isn't Puerto Rican when her mother is Colombiana, her father Polish and when she's born in the USA 😂 Well, she should be "half" latina according to that. But even the level of being half a Latina is miles away from her attitude... Being Latino is not about speaking Spanish and having a slightly darker skin tone. It's more a cultural thing, which she is completely missing.... I find Latinos verry decent, friendly, warm and proud people in general. She seems to be far away from that. I'm even wondering if she actually knows about the typically used Colombian words. Since that is partly her true descent. She's just a shame of Latinos calling herself Latina...

Tiana, Pocahontas, and Mulan get to keep their race and culture bc it’s a direct part of their story, but for some reason Snow doesn’t? i’d argue Merida need to stay white too, if/when she gets a live-action adaptation. it just doesn’t make sense to take a well-known WHITE story and make it black/brown/etc. that’s not real representation. maybe if they were actually doing a different take on the story, it could work, but i don’t think disney would be the ones to do that and do it well.

Man, the Once Upon A Time’s Snow White is the most badass version of the caracter. She’s a leader, fights, kills, does all that jazz and ALSO has a love interest and respects the background story. Sure, they adjusted the “beauty/envy” thing to an act of betrayal that made the Evil Queen to want her dead, but still, this is a change that didn’t hurt the story, only made it more “rooted on reality” and believable. And yea, the actress looks more like the original fairytale. And yea, there are dwarfs included in the story and they add SO MUCH to the story by being who they are. And yea, love is important to the story (and god knows why Hollywood hates love that much nowadays). So the whole point is that it’s all just stupid imo.

The really stupid absolutely stupidest thing about this whole controversy is the fact that if Disney really knew the the Grims fairy tales they would have known that Snow White had a sister named Rose Red. And Rose Red did not have white skin she had a darker Hue like the color of red but I guess you could say red in the sense of pink maybe so that would have not suited Rachel at all. I know it's it's against the law to be white in America or the world that seems these days. The funny thing like for example a guy I used to know he was from Pakistan and he kept trying to get me to convert to Islam and telling me how wonderful it was being a Pakistani Muslim and that so I said to him if I converted to your religion and I went to Pakistan I said how long would I be alive once I got off the plane and I could see that as soon as I asked the question that he realized that I had hit him with the with my answer as to whether or not I would ever convert to being a Muslim because he said you would not last 5 minutes there they would kill you. So I told him I said you were telling me how evil it was in America but you know what you lived in America far longer than than 5 minutes and they only reason why you wound up going into prison was because of the fact that you claimed that they said that you had been looking up what was it heatsinking missiles or something like that he was telling me and I wasn't really I wasn't looking that stuff up I was looking for something else but that thing popped up. Another bad liar but just like Rachel. So yeah and in the same way you got to understand that you see when people when people like Rachel or other people like that when they try to make a big issue out of something they've got a reason for their wanting to do these things and it's not because they want to be I thought it was being some kind of social Warrior it's because they want to cry and moan and b**** about something because they want to feel like they're in The Cutting Edge of doing something but you know what every single person who died in Jonestown they all thought of themselves as being social justice Warriors and there was a whole lot of people in there who didn't drink that poison they were actually either shot and/or injected because they refuse to drink their poison cuz they know what they were hearing this b******* but because of what else was going on there they were also giving them what little food they were eating included things to try to to try to change their abilities to say yes or no to something so they had no clue in many many different times about what people were saying or what was being told to them and so many times of them being told that oh you know we're going to have a test to see if you're a real good followers so we're going to have this fake poison to drink and then that was to lead up to the actual real Poison well that's not true either you know and as it turns out it's actually connected up with with the federal government because they waited a good almost seven days when they had people within 4 hours away who could have gotten there the same day that all that s*** was going down and they could have stopped the congressman Leo Ryan from getting killed. But obviously because Leo Ryan was introducing a bill to keep the CIA out from out from trying to get involved in other countries in there and who they're who we're going to be elected or to try to overturn elections and things yeah sure he got shot there for no reason yeah no no no there was a bigger thing going on than in in the the linchpin was at the airport that's what that whole thing was all about and and then the cleanup they had to wait until those bodies were all bloated so they couldn't tell how many of them had been injected or how many of them had been either a shot or whatever else as a matter of fact the the Guyanese Army was there before the Americans were and they said that of the of the bodies that they saw within the 12 hours after the noise died they said that that the majority of dead bodies that they saw had injection marks on them and that in in that the poison had been injected rather than drinking it so just there alone it's a pretty good reason why at that time of the year why the government said we'll drag our heels with getting in there to get those bodies out of there so they could someone else to what did that over or the reason for there to be a CIA code that was coming out of Jonestown over the short Rave Wave radio that was being picked up by all other shortwave ones around the world everyone heard it there you go

As a Puerto Rican (born and raised in NYC) who spent over half a year living in Peru, I can confirm that Latin American culture based off the continent, rather than islands in the (very mixed and African-culture-influenced), Caribbean, is incredibly different. Caribbean trade-island culture is very different from that of mountain or coastal or jungle or desert, land-locked cultures etc. There's so many reasons for it. And, each island within the Caribbean has different history and traumas and natural resources and conflicts etc, which has humongous impacts on their culture and current status. There are many distinctions and variations that cause Latino culture to be very very diverse, within itself.

Funny thing is they could have absolutely casted an actress of “Latin descent” who still has fair white skin like Snow White, because it’s actually quite common. There are many people who are “Latin” that are pale skinned- whiter than myself or Disparu. It just shows how ignorant everyone involved with this is that they think brown skin = “Latin representation.” I’ll bet if an actress auditioned that fit their bill but had pale skin, they would have had their little way of looking at each other and saying “she’s not brown enough though.”

You are right. Also, "latin" is now a popular tag for non-Canadian/US American people. You know, from the same continent. In this context, Latin is an incorrect term because "Latin" used to be a term for a different especific people from Europe. Very few people inside Mexico say "I'm Latin", although we can use that term just as a lazy way to say "I'm not an Anglo/Saxon/Afro/etc-American" in a US/Canadian context. So, Latin is more like a useful tag outside "Latin-american" countries. Now, I'm Mexican and I'm also white because Mexican is a nationality not a race, and I agree with you that there are a lot of people who ignore that. ¡Saludos, amigo!

It makes 0 sense when they change a character's race for "representation" but the entire story and setting is still European. Why not just write NEW stories to actually encompass those cultures you want to represent like with Coco and Encanto? It's not a sin for the old Disney princesses to be white. It's not a sin for a white person to play a white character. Those stories are a product of their time in history. It just feels like they're trying to get revenge on white-washing of old films by poc-washing modern films. My Puerto Rican self has 0 appreciation for their misplaced efforts. It's just dumb tit for tat. If anything I feel insulted that they're using minorities as political props in their films. Am I supposed to feel good about them making a Latin person play a German girl?????? They really need to move away from politics and "wokeness" and just refocus on making films everyone can enjoy.

A few months ago, I believed that it didn’t matter if POC actors were cast in roles originally written for white characters in films, movies, live-action shows, or animations, as long as the characters were well-written, had developing arcs, a great narrative, and were flawed main characters. However, nowadays, because writers and their woke studios have repeatedly shown that they are not listening to criticism and are calling fans trolls when faced with backlash over their sh!tty writing, I have changed my mind. They have shown that they are moving backward, being derivative in a negative way, dejecting, and displaying incompetence. I now believe that if a studio is trying to create or remake a film, movie, live-action show or animation from an already existing product, they must stick to the source material, which is often a storybook or a novel. This means that if a character is explicitly stated to be white in the source material, then white actors should be cast; and if a character is explicitly stated to be POC, then actors of POC should be cast. Thankfully, there is no shortage of actors of different races, cultures, and colors. Additionally, if studios want to create exclusive representation for people of color in films, movies, live-action shows or animations, there are many existing source materials (both old and new) in the form of storybooks and novels that have not yet been adapted into these formats. It’s not that difficult to be honest. They are willing to waste millions upon millions to tarnish existing good old films/movies/live-action shows/animations so why not use those source materials that I mentioned and make a profit while showing representation in a good faith?

What I can’t believe is Disney allowing her to talk shit on so many of their products. She has torn down literally EVERYTHING in Disney surrounding the old Snow White… the movie, the amusement park ride, the park in general. They usually don’t let anyone talk down their product, but this girl is somehow immune and I’m baffled by it.

Everything leftists touch, they turn to manure. It's the reverse Midas touch. And the top Disney brass are leftists. Walt must be spinning in his grave at how they've purposely gone from family-friendly and the American Way to pure socialist propaganda.

@marhawkman303 i agree. it feels like a marketing strategy that enforces the new one is better because that's the one that needs to be sold so they can get butts in seats. their woke ideas are causing the movies to flop so instead they double down on the controversy. tear down the old to prop up the new so it garners interest is a shitty way to do things but what can you expect from a company that is more focused on $$ than the family oriented environment that Disney used to stand for
