Arthur Hiller, director of the film, says that this scene was not in the script, it was practically improvised. They had traveled to Boston to continue filming but ran into a terrible snow storm. Without being able to film what was planned, and in order not to waste the day, Hiller had the idea to ask for an American football, and request that the city stadium be opened for him. He asked Ali and Ryan to just go with the flow; That's where this iconic scene came from. Only the beautiful music of Francis Lai was enough to make it memorable.

I remember watching with my older sister early 70s...who just passed away of cancer...cherish life

This melody brings me best memories of my early childhood. I was probably 4 or 5 and my dad used to play this album almost every afternoon while reading a book. I got to see the film some years later. I've been to NYC once in the winter and this tune was playing in my head while walking in the snow. Awesomeness!

My favorite The Movie Love Story Scene the couple was playing in the snow I Wish Got Snow Last Christmas and now this Sunday 02-12-23 we expected snow follow the rain as soon possible maybe I wake up got snow on the ground…

I searched for this music for more than 25 years and found it only today. Makes me so happy when I listen to it. Happy and nostalgic. Its a beautiful piece of music.

Still have tears in my eyes today when I heard this all over again.....

Today, I did snow operation in the army. Our team had to get up at 6a.m. in order to remove them. Winds and tremendous amount of snow made us tired, pretty annoying work it was actually. While I was sweeping them, suddenly this song appeared in my head and everything seemed like a movie... I was like 'why this song is in my head? I dont know even the title of it.' Then, I spent my day in Youtubr to find it after the operation. Now, finally, I found this lovely piece. It is 11p.m. now. And somehow today turns out to be blissful. Thank you!

Ryan O’Neil had a sad life I’ve heard but he was such a handsome great actor this movie was really his best. I know his daughter Tatum has bad reflections about her father but it’s better to remember the good times. This was a beautiful movie I’ve only cried to this Forrest Gump, Dances With Wolves, White Fang, and Cast Away

Those haunting vocals are so beautiful... so happy yet so sad...

I think because snow is more lonely than cold but that's because of the visual...I live in a perfectly tropical country and it still haunts me..there's a love which remains within all of us though unrequited ...stays on in our mind. Because we accept it so completely...it becomes a part of our supreme consciousness

I was weeping in the theatre.. Nostalgic memory.. Now 44 years passed.. still watching the song as if it is new release..

Running in the snowy woods with my husband, sun in my face and hearing this song ... absolute heaven❤❄👟

I have to say this is one of the most beautiful and romantic scenes of cinema history or at least from the films I have seen. It always makes me feel so happy and emotional when I watch this scene. I just hope and wish that I get to have this feeling some day with some one I love.

@@Lakshay-ex3xe well no. The soundtrack is definitely classic and I think it's a decent movie but it's not a classic story at all. Nothing happens in the movie. Their romance is like 10 mins of the movie and then they start kissing and then it's like they show all this montage and then they find out she's you know. Then it's over.

The song lyrics are simple, but this song has given me more thought and inspiration than any other song.

More than just about any scene in any film this one moment in time absolutely scintillates with the ecstatic euphoria of all consuming love. I had almost forgotten how utterly beautiful they both were too.

When I was in college in the 70s every girl wanted to be Jennifer and hoped for her own Oliver.

Loved this song and part of the film since 1970 and found it last week as I watched the movie again after decades!❤️

This song is one of the most beautiful in the world, it is divine and wonderful, it has a contagious magic, it always transports me to a world of peace, gratitude, pure ecstasy, indescribable, unspeakable! This charming snow scene from 1970 would be considerably less romantic were anyone to attempt to copy it today. Why? Because the characters would be half-mindful of their smart phones, whether they are damp, have slipped from their pocket, or disappeared in the snow. The characters would feel for their pocket for their phone as they get up off the snow, or a look of distraction would cross their face as they each for a second contemplate whether they are neglecting to take a photo of a great photo opportunity. Thus their eyes don't fully lock. And the moment is gone, and the memory of it is spoiled. Technology today, eh!

i was always wondering if the drivers from the cars and the black-yellow truck there were passing near the park, while Oliver and Jennifer are running in the snow toward the street, ever realized they were part of something so memorable like this 50 years old now classic movie.

This movie, songs never gets old. If you’ve never watched it , I strongly recommend it. Perfect classic!!! I had the song in my head and thanks to technology I found it. Happy can play it as often as I want.. ❤

Some...my favorite rom flick

I heard an instrumental on my easy listening station last night ("Look Around You'll Find Me There") by John Gregory and the Cascading Strings....and I KNEW it was Snow Frolic music. I didn't have the title but I spent an hour and a half researching and finally found it on an obscure album with other songs from the 60's and 70's. All instrumentals, so it should have been titled Snow Frolic by Francis Lai. However, he collaborated with Vince Hill who put lyrics to this haunting melody if you are interested. I have always loved this scene/music since I was a girl and still prefer the instrumental but for those of you who want to hear lyrics to it you will find it on KZread.

Thank you for that. Sometimes lyrics work, sometimes they don't. I always remember the film Nicholas and Alexandra and they put lyrics to the theme and it worked! I think I just love the eeriness of this tune and not sure it needs anything else.

My mom and dad god rest their souls had this on a record listening to this song before the movie couldnt get through the whole song without crying😢I went out bought the cd the cassette tape saw the movie absolutely beautiful before my 1st wife passed away we made snow angels 😇 and played in the snow😊❤

Great Love Story, beautiful Ali Mc Graw. I first watched them when I was 15. Great Music by Francis Lai, also sung by Andy Williams. Looking back, its a little bit cheesy, more like an Hindustani movie. The normal plot when kids are in love, against parents consent, the movie Bobby comes to mind. And like Hindustani movie, plenty of frolicking in the forest and lawns while beautiful music plays in the background. I wouldn’t mind watching it again w my daughters and wife anytime. Bought its dvd, on sale, rather cheap, while I was walking in Lucerne Switzerland.

The song is great and even greater when good memories come by it. It was 1971 and had heard this song being played many time on radio. Gee, I long for my innocent, carefree childhood with living with my great family.
