Blue Lagoon Beach Snorkeling Point is one of the best snorkeling places in Bali and is a favorite snorkeling spot for beginners and families because the waters are very calm. You may snorkel throughout the year at the Blue Lagoon Bali. The snorkeling area has a sandy bottom as home to one of Bali’s coral reefs. While exploring the reef, expect to see cuttlefish, angelfish, cowfish, and moray eels.
Amuk Bay Snorkeling Spot aka Tanjung Jepun is one of the best snorkeling places at Padang Bai and it is located next to the Blue Lagoon Beach and the Odyssey Submarine Bali. It offers you the best underwater view of the beautiful coral and colorful fishes.
For this whole trip, we have spent 400,000 IDR for 2 hours snorkeling (Private Boat) for 2 persons and another 400,000 IDR for private transport from Denpasar to Padang Bai (Return). We left the city around 8 am in the morning, reached Padang Bai around 9:30 am and our snorkelling tour started at 10am till 12 pm. We went to Blue Lagoon snorkeling point for first hour and then to Amuk Bay (Tanjung Jepun). We really enjoyed our time at Amuk Bay (Tanjung Jepun) compared to Blue Lagoon as the location is scenic with mountains backdrop, the water is more clearer, loads of fishes and less crowd at that time. And also, the sea bottom at blue lagoon is very sandy and its quite difficult to get clear vision of coral reef unless you want to dive a bit and can swim well. At the end of trip, we both felt like we would have better spent whole 2 hours at Amuk Bay (Tanjung Jepun), but it's a good experience to try out both spots while you are there.
Overall, I would say it is quite a good half-day activity or an alternative snorkelling option for those (Beginners) who want to try it near to the city side without having to travel to either Nusa Penida or Nusa Lembongan and can be considered as cheaper option as well from the price point. If you want even cheaper, you can join mixed group snorkeling tour for 2 hours instead of going with private boat and you can easily find a lot of providers for that once you reached at Padang Bai and always try to bargain and never accept the first price they quote especially in peak seasons.
