Snord is a loot-goblin version of Ciaphas Cain
I know it is plot armor, but it just works! And you know Katrina was just sitting on her throne, cackling as she read the reports. Probably was the most entertainment she had in years.
Snord is part of what gives Battletech comedy relief. Everything can't be serious or it will get tiresome. You need some crazy to make thing fun.

Snord was not a member of Clan Wolf. He was, in fact, a member of the lesser known Clan Murder-Hobo.
His daughter Rhonda Snord formed "Clan Snord". Just to "F" with the clans. She defeated Jade Falcon and made bondsmen of some of their best warriors.

The irregulars 'mechs are a topic of their own, not only they were very fond of Frankenmechs, but they also modified more standard 'mechs. Rhonda Snord's signature 'mech, Heavy Metal, was a modified Highlander, painted bright pink, and mounted with several external loudspeakers which she used to blast 20th century heavy metal music across the battlefield.
I swear every mech in Snord’s arsenal has a tow cable so they pull downed mechs as soon as the battle finishes

@@connormclernon26 yeah, honestly I have a great idea to make implementing the Bounty Hunter in a game special especially is it's something like the 2018 game where choices and story matters more. The general idea is that there are actually multiple templates of reactions and even whole missions that are unique to which kind of person the Bounty Hunter you encounter is according to that template. Then, a template is picked when you start a new campaign and that Bounty Hunter is developed throughout your play through. You might never encounter her or he might approach you for a business opportunity because of your skill. Hell, in my wildest imagination of this concept you could even build such a rapport with the Bounty Hunter that you can either ask or hire them to fight the big bad with you. Only there's a chance for it to turn out the campaign's villain gave them a better offer.
You fail to mention one of the nicest things Snord and the dude with glasses did for Jonas, after he passed away (they drank and saluted him in his burial chamber)

I think Snord and his daughter might be originally from clan Goliath Scorpion rather than clan Wolf. They certainly behave like Clan Scorpion's Seekers searching for Star League relics and returning them to their own little "Temple of the Nine Muses" on Clinton. The Scorpion's do have a blood house Sword, he might have chosen to use something similar as their "family" name in the Inner Sphere.

The Wolf's Dragoons did go trainning with the Goliath Scorpions... maybe he was just taking notes.
I inadvertently obtained a variant of Samual "Shorty" Sneede's FrankenMech Rifleman, among a huge lot of 3D-printed mechs I purchased in 2022. During my research of the mech and its famous pilot, I fell in love with the history of Snorde's Irregulars; so much so, that I ended up building and painting 24 mechs in homage to the mercenary group. 🤗
Its funny because a couple of days ago I was reading a Battletech short story collection and one of the stories focused on a Marik raid looting Snord's museum.
Great video! Like others have said, Snord's snording adventures were there to give a laugh to a dark universe, but there was a part behind the curtain. Snord wasn't thrown out of the Dragoons in reality. Jaime realized they needed information about the Inner Sphere and updates on the old Star League information they brought hack with them. So Snord gets "booted" out of the unit to form his own band and go Snording about the Inner Sphere "looting" historic sites, but he was also helping to form Wolfnet, and find the Star Keague depots for him and Wolfs Dragoons to use.
The FWL fanboy in me is crying. However i still laughed the whole time during the video at the shenanigans of this madlad. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for making this video about Clan Snord.
Best part Snord fist fights an Art Museum! These videos always help me learn a bit of BattleTech and make me laugh as well. Keep up the great work you guys!
I wish you had covered their Clan Era lore. Or the stuff they did under Rhonda Snord. I love the Irregulars. They have plot armor, yes. It wasn't stupid plot armor. They way they went about things made sense. The stuff after the Dark Nebula is kinda iffy. But again, it made sense. Great vid as always.

I'm well aware of how insane real life can get. My go to saying is that real life is more dramatic than game of thrones, more complicated than dune and more unrealistic than star wars. The stuff people have done and gotten away with would sould like a terribly written action comic. And yet it's all real
My favorite Merc unit in Battletech is the Eridani Light Horse. Glad to see a new video.
Shout out to Bloodydoves and his BTA3062! Recent update breaks old saves but so much new stuff. Several times larger than Catalysts base Battletech game.

You feel with the Bloodname he should be a Clan Goliath Scorpion Seeker . Why this isn't the case is a mystery .
yes Steve, now make sure he stays in the basement this time
Not sure if this canon, but there were stories that Snord was originally a member of Clan Goliath Scorpion adopted into clan Wolf and was then assigned to the Dragoons. Goliath Scorpion warriors were known for their quirky attitude when it camd to looking for lostech and relics from the past.
Steve! I'm glad he's back!
Nice to see you all back together doing the usual. I would like to recommend an episode about Solaris 7 because its so dumb and glorious that it will certainly be entertaining. Because what could possibly go wrong when all major houses live together on a planet, right?

I adore Snord. Sure, he's plot armored, but he uses it for hijinx, not to be thr bestest boy ever so its fine.
Some must have been snording something when they made lore for Snord's Irregulars.
Jump ships are not lostech, they are just incredibly priceless and so precious that all the houses agreed to never destroy infrastructure involved in their production and maintenance. Warships on the other hand is lostech, and yes warships can carry dropships as well as glassing planets.
Yay Steve is back
Yes.... YES! Finally someone covers them \[T]/

Yeah, I don't see how you can be off your landing coordinates in a Drop Ship, and yes I know Mechs can be orbitally inserted but that tech was so rare it was practically lost-tech.
@scienceinsanity6927
5 ай бұрын
Any number of reasons. Orbital insertions in battletech are similar to how the real life space shuttle landed. They pick a vector to enter the atmosphere that lets them hit their intended coordinates as they decelerate during reentry. They have to be moving fast as hell to stay in orbit to begin with which is why they don't just go straight down. During that descent they may come under fire from surface to space gun batteries specifically designed to stop someone from hot dropping on top of or behind the target. They may simply experience a lot more turbulence than expected since not every planet is like earth and some have really crazy wind or weather. Their intel or telemetry might be bad and the pilot simply cant accurately find the correct drop point. There's lots of ways for the landing coordinates to be off. In games and stuff the drops are almost always perfect because, hey, it's a game. They're not going to drop you 20 miles off the target area.
@eddapultstab2078
5 ай бұрын
Orbital insertions are usually very niche and expensive option, especially since you are risking entire mechs, role play wise. Usually, it's used to secure landing zones for the expensive and vulnerable dropships, if they fail they must either pick sub optimal locations or abort the landings. The more niche options tend be guerrilla warfare actions or high risk high reward, one way and sometimes suicidal missions.

Soooooo... Snord is the Ciaphas Cain of BT?
Just wait until Rhonda Snord takes over...
This kind of plot armor is a lot more tolerable with its comedy than when some "super serious ultra badass hardest core evar" setting has someone just walk off being hit with consequences while playing things completely straight. Edit: They DO know how to make jumpships, but the number of places with the intellectual and technological capacity is extremely limited. WARSHIPS are the lostech.
snord and the original book was my FIRST and still FAVORITE btech supplement... back when they had pictures of the mechs on the back of the book... you forgot to mention "Shorty" Sneede - with his wierd frankenmech which is like half rifleman/half archer/half warhammer/half phoenix hawk head???? The most colorful part of Snord's story is his head tech who built his own mech out of scrap parts so he could fight too... they are all such characters waiting for a movie.. one collects old guns, one collects old movies, one collects old elvis records, etc etc.. they all have some wierd thing to look for from one burned down world to the next... and Rhonda was voted Sexiest Mechwarrior 3025 in a calendar because of that pic... even beating out the Black Widow in the 'abs' category. Aslo beat Natasha Kerensky's face in at a bar brawl incident on Solaris but that is just backstory... :) Snord's irregulars is the funnest unit in the entire franchise! Thanks for the tribute --C. Snord
it was actually funded by the dragoons wolfnet.
Wait. They left things that were nailed down? They have some learning to do, then. You leave behind only what is both nailed down _and on fire._
To be fair. It wasnt the palace world. But it was his personal estate in holt.
they're Saints.
Don’t know where I heard that, I might be wrong or is it just my headcanon, but wasn’t Snord a warrior from the Goliath Scorpions who accompanied the Wolfs Dragoons to the inner sphere? And because of that he’s so obsessed with relics?
hows the keyboard do we need to do a gofundme?
Steve :)
STEVE!
How can you cover the madness that is Snord's Irregulara and not talk about the Insanity that was his Frankenmech!
Shame he didn't mention the other BIG thing about snord's which they forgot the same way MW5 did, their tradition of frankenmechs. Then again these are C grade wiki readers, if you want actual BT lore go find the BPL and "Tex talk's battletech" or "sven van der plank" for deep insanely researched lore project starting with the start of the timeline
so crossover Snord vs Trazyn ?
Snord sounds norse so auto win + comedic plot armor. ALL factions be it merc/ clan/ house/ peripehery/ hybrid state HAVE some degree of plot armor and ALL ruling govrnments are showing bad/ sometimes better aspects than real life counterparts. Thats why I love BT as the GoT in spaaaace!
Where did Steve go?
