    Hi Steve. Just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate your channel. I started playing this wonderful game about 20 years ago and I learned something new again today. I am subscribed to other snooker channels that are very good as well, but honestly your channel is my favorite one, for a few reasons. First off, your knowledge of he game just can't be questioned. Secondly, the quality of your teachings is absolutely unsurpassed, simply by the fact that you explain everything so well and with such details. And finally, the quality of your videos just couldn't be better. So, keep on going like that and I'm convinced your channel will grow immensely and very quickly. Looking forward to more videos, but of course the one about the mental aspect of the game I asked a few days ago. Thanks! :-)

    Hi, Steve. I've watched this video of yours several times and its done wonders to my cushion bridge technique. I always found the loop bridge uncomfortable and unstable and was never confident on my shots with loop bridge. Thanks to you now I'm using the thumb and the finger technique and its really great. Really appreciate your time and effort to make and upload these videos. Keep up the good work. God Bless .

    this is a brillant video funnily enough i learnt to do screw shots with the cue ball close to the cushion by elevating the cue quite a bit after getting comfortable with my bridging hand on the cushion. thanks alot :)

    Good tips, thanks. I especially find the last position useful to generate a bit more power. Just to add. I take extra time to make sure I am hitting centre bowl when on a rail. Also, just as when bridging over a ball, I ‘consciously’ will lower the stick as horizontal as reasonable. We all know to keep it up he cue horizontal but there is often still an unnecessary extra 1/2 inch or so of clearance that is overlooked.

    Very helpful indeed - Thankyou. Now, the point about the bridge, I too have difficulty with looping, so the first one would be better suited with the rest of the hand rest on the side base of the table. I also found useful the point on then where you hold the cue to avoid elevation. This is a common mistake I've often made in the past. I am sure I will now notice the difference.

    I find playing shots off the cushion means I usually end up pushing the white off line (probably as you can't see the centre of the cue ball easily). Always did my head in, then i noticed which side it always missed to, then adjusted that. Now I can pot them .....occasionally !

    As a youtube content creator you no doubt want to offer up something exciting for your viewers. Let me tell you now, you should arrange a live-streamed match - BartonSnooker vs Breakfromlife. If this was scheduled properly and put on at the right time, between yours and his followers I can safely assume you would get at least 40,000 people watching live. You are the two best coaching channels on youtube without question. Who wouldn't want to see this match?

    Dear Steve, thanks a lot for wonderful videos. My problem is when I delivered the cue the hand hits the chest and the cue goes offline. Often it is unintended right spin on the cue. Also, not sure how long the cue should be touching the chest before hitting the cue ball or after cue ball hitting the object ball.

    It's hard isn't it, because people like the privacy of coming for a quiet 1-2-1 lesson. I don't think people would like to think they're going out live on KZread 😁 I may do it in the future if I can find someone that wouldn't mind though.

    Too notch. Thanks. These are likely my least favourite shots to practice...thus why they are even more important. They can come up several times a frame for us 'average players' who have less cue ball control. I sometimes substitute a small 2 1/16th American striped ball for the cueball so I can see if I'm shooting straight. Now down to my basement Snooker table to practice these bridges. Much appreciated from Canada.

    I tried to search for the specific problem I have when bridging in a particular way but did not find any video that showed my problem. I will try to explain it here since you are a professional even though this video is more than two years old. The problem I have is when for example the cue ball is in between the black and the blue, but it is on the left or right side if you are looking up the table to the three colours, and you are hitting a red near the blue ball position, the cue ball is glued to either side of the table, unlike in this video and others, the cue is almost perpendicular to the table, what I mean is that the cue is 45 degrees to the table, it is very difficult to form the near-cushion bridge hand

    Why we always feel that cueing downwards will cause side spins?

  • @BartonSnooker

    @BartonSnooker

    5 жыл бұрын

    Hi, It is basically because of where you are hitting on the white ball. If you hit at the top of the white, any bit of unwanted side on the white, will push the white off it's straight path very easily. Then if you also add that you are coming down at the white from an angle with the cue jacked up, this will exaggerate this effect even more. So if you cue downwards, and don't hit PERFECTLY in the middle of the white, you will push the white offline.
