To clarify on snitches and rats....A snitch is someone who gets caught and gives info about the people they were doing crime with to get a deal on time in jail. A prison rat is someone who goes to jail and just taddle tells on everyone like that teachers pet in elementary school.

In the mob, a rat is someone that tells on their own people to get a reduced sentence. Like Sammy the Bull Grevano. Its basically the same thing.

It's a code to not snitch. I heard about a guy who said if someone tried to mess with him in prison he'd go right to an officer to report it. The guy asking him said, you mean you'd snitch? Hell yeah I'd snitch. Just because it's a code, I appreciate the guy's response.

His story reminds me about a similar situation involving "Freeway Ricky". (Considered by the Feds to be the Godfather of crack cocaine in Los Angeles) When Freeway Ricky was prosecuted, he was found guilty and sent to prison. He couldn't read. He taught himself to read in prison. After learning to read, he read law books. I don't remember the exact specifics of his story, but he found a legal 'loop hole' that allowed himself to get out of prison or get a new trial. Which ever it was, he didn't have to go back to prison. Several people have interviewed him and the interviews are on KZread. I would highly recommend that you listen to the interviews. It's amazing to listen to him talk. You would have no clue that this is a man with no education. He talks more intelligently than most college graduates I have met.

I believe a 'rat' is someone involved with a crime, that betrays his accomplices to the police. A 'snitch' is someone (even a bystander) that just has information about a crime, but wasn't directly involved. So rats are on the inside, snitches are external.

Because he has one of the best crime stories of all time. And the no snitching "Code" you speak of, it doesnt exist. Close to 90% of Federal inmates have cooperated. Outside of the prison KZread genre, no one cares about snitching, they just want a good story.

@@christophermitchell4455 That's an oversimplification. Saying that something "doesn't exist" simply because a person with anti-social personality disorder is a hypocrite doesn't make any sense. The whole point in diagnosing this people is that we've come to expect them to have entitlement issues where they expect others to follow the rules while they do not have to.
